This MV shows early 2000s in Korea. In the early 2000's Korea was under IMF reforming plan. Many workers got fired so even normal families had hard time. Many Korean felt that the story of MV is their own story or the story of their friends. Just like Greece these days

Actually its late 90s

1st time I watch this song was from Immortal songs G.O.D edition. My reaction was the same as you. I was cried. And what make it worst, the lyrics remind me of my mom who also suddenly gone from my side, without warning, and I felt really regret because I think I never really tell my my mother how much I love her, just like in this video. And our situation was almost the same with the story. We are not rich family and my mom used let us eat first before also eat. I cried a lot and I cried it again when watch your reaction. Aside of how sad this song, their vocal in this song is really good :)

Kpop 이 진짜 세계적으로 좀더 알려지고 오래오래 갈려면 더이상 겉만 화려한것이 아니라 이렇게 감성도 울리줄 알고 우리 실제 생활과 관련된 에피소드의 호소력 있는 노래도 나와야 됩니다. 그런데 너무 또 노래가 한국사람들만 이해 할수 있는 감성이면 안통할거고 글로벌한 감성을 이끌어 낼수 있는 주제로 잘 만들어야 겠죠 그게 능력 아닐까 합니다

정말 맞는 말입니다. 물론 요즘 좋은 노래도 꽤나 있지만 god노래만큼 호소력짙고 질리지 않고 찾아서 듣고 싶은 노래도 나와야 합니다. 댄스에 맞춘 노래가 아니라 이런 노래가 나온다면 한국정서가 들어가도 결국 좋은 노래이기에 모두의 공감을 이끌 수 있지 않을까요

유복하게 자랐는가 아닌가보다 어머님의 무조건적인 사랑과 희생에 대한 공감이죠. 어머니의 사랑은 돈이 많거나 적은 것과는 무관한 것이니까요.

역시 노래는 노래죠. 이제서야 부모님의 마음이 어느 정도 이해가 되네요.

어렷을적엔 잘 몰랐는데 이 노래가 가슴속에 와닿기까지 많은 시간이 지났네요.

나없는 곳에서 편히 쉬라는 가사가 너무 슬프다.. 평생 나때문에 고생하신 우리 어머니.. 거기는 편안하시죠?.. 저는 이제 철들고 어머니를 그리워합니다... 사랑합니다 어머니..

When she started bopping her head in the beginning I was just like "she has no idea what's going to happen..." I always cry to this song and MV, don't worry. It always hits me hard because I grew up with just my Mom and she would also not eat much so we can have bigger portions. We grew up eating mainly instant noodles and eggs with rice. My mom worked 2 or sometimes 3 jobs at once. We would only see her before we went to school and if we stay up late enough to see her come home from work. My mom's still alive but the thought of her gone makes me very sad. I can't even describe the pain.

The story is partly drawn from the group members' experiences of living in austere conditions while training and preparing for their debut and also inspired by the childhood of band leader Park Joon-hyung. Born in South Korea, Park immigrated to the United States with his family as a child. His father died and his mother was forced to raise him and his siblings alone in a new country while struggling financially. Unlike the lyrics of the song, Park's mother is still alive and the food item was actually japchae and not jajangmyeon.

I remember this. Sub titles don't do it justice. It's sadder in the Korean language. Like the first sad part, that always gets me...is where the mom said she didn't like that food. Really it translates to her excuse, for not being able to afford it for herself.

I think Alisa is also an Asian like me and Korean people. Their culture is not much different with us. I think all East Asian countries cultures toward their parents, family and other people basically are the same.

+Riana ZeinF It is interesting that Riana seemed to mean that all people in their world have the same feeling in this situation. In my thought, countries under Confucianism(e.g. Viet Nam, Japan, Corea, China) have comparatively ethical love toward their own mother although this thought is not the truth. Especially in Japan and Corea, honorific is ethically used for their parents.

평생을 '나'때문에 고생하신 어머니 돌아가시고 나서야 '내'가 없는 세상에서 편히 쉬실수있다는거.. 가사진짜 미쳤어..
