G I A N T S - Whale sharks of Isla Mujeres

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The Yucatan peninsula is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world and every year just offshore from Cancun, the largest fish in the ocean aggregates in vast numbers to feed.
This very special aggregation is one of only a handful of such known sites where whale sharks aggregate and it has turned into a valuable ecotourism contribution to the local economy.
Filmed on Panasonic GH4 and Canon 7D
For details on how this was filmed please see our website journal at www.viewfromtheblue.me.uk/blog...

Breaks my heart to see them damaged so badly, or sometimes purposefully killed. To me they are the most majestic of sea creatures, almost like the sea gods. They should be respected much more.

@@waleeh9113 it was amazing.. I met a guy who owned a hotel in Thailand he brought us to an island early in the morning. We swam with them for a good two hours. Best part is it was all free. There were three of them, two adults and a younger one. They usualy come to feed in the morning and circle around these small islands for hours feeding. I could inbox you where it is but locals really want this spot to be kept secret as much as possible. I rented a car in Bangkok and drove all the way to the islands and one night I randomly found this hotel on booking.

Jessica M. Rocco From JUNE TO AUGUST , it's whale shark season in CANCUN. So if you want to swim with them, that would be the best time to go. Since they gather in the Caribbean area because it's rich in plankton during that time, they all gather there.

@メンマ Menma Arts I was asking you for proof. If anyone Google's about the history of Evolution, there are plenty of credible sources, like the History Channel, Stanford University, and National Geographic. Make an attempt to Google about evolution being untrue, and the results will actually still show why evolution is fact. Take peppered moths. They were originally light in color, however due to pollution from the industrial revolution, they turned to a much darker color. Birds saw moths less as a result, and natural selection allowed those that experienced the mutation a better chance of survival.

I swim with them every year, Isla Mujeres is much better than swimming with them in Holbox. The water is warm is clear as opposed to cold and green around Holbox. The biggest I saw was around 8m though apparently they get to 12m. Also you will see manta rays too. I recommend www.oceantoursmexico.com/tours/whale-shark-tour/ I have used them about 7 times already, they have noise reduction on their out-board motors and respect the rules for interacting with whale sharks.

I’ve had the privilege of swimming with them right off Isla Mujeres. They congregate right in the area in droves to feed in the summer months. A reputable and responsible tour operator will only let you get into the water with a guide and will forbid you to touch the sharks. If you do they, will have you come back on the boat and will not let you in the water again.
