Kitty S catfish are active predators and whale sharks filter feeders. they do look similar riff some catfish species though.

I previously heard about the whale shark in books and publications, but this is quite possibly the most comprehensive show about him. The whale shark is far and away a most beautiful creature, but his big mouth easily would outdo even Joanne Worley. For divers who would like to come up to the whale shark up close and personal, please do not interfere with him or mess around with his eating habits. Please respect the whale shark and give him leeway and his space.

They can, because other smaller fish tend to stick with them. So, when you see a whale shark, there is a high possibility that smaller fish are sticking close to it.

You can see 4 whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium, located in Atlanta Georgia. I went and it's the biggest aquarium in the world. It's simply amazing!! And the cool thing is, I can go whenever I want because I live like, 40 minutes from Atlanta.
