Good morning mr Townsend, nice to see you giving yourself extra work 😇, only good thing about this little car is that a certain tall chap who shall remain nameless cannot get behind the wheel, I used to work for a guy who loved pre war cars and with himself being a retired engineer he restored them himself and he got a lot of joy putting these on the road again, hope you enjoy your new auto fuzz, really enjoy the car programme’s on the tele, I was fortunate to meet you when you came to carrickfergus in Northern Ireland and enjoyed the day out with all the classic cars

Hi Fuzz, we have found that more often swapping the lower seat cushion for a lower profile one will give more room in your driving position while allowing you to keep the back cushion in place. Alex - Brewster Mudie vintage car specialists

Love the Beaufort... Size 10s (only), but 6'2"; and permanent spinal injury, wheelchair use. Drive with hand controls. Used an Opal Tourer from 1936, with hand controls I cobbled together; vacuum servo air tanks under the chassis, lever operated brake, clutch and throttle in centre of the steering wheel. Could get my fold up chair behind the seats..Loved it. Sadly, can't upload a photo. It was diarrhea brown of course. brush painted.

Well done, Ive wanted one of these for years as well, ended up with a Marlin Sportster somehow instead, budget has something to do with that. Nice to see the old saloon still on the drive, I think I jumped in that to direct you to the Soapbox at Kop Hill Climb a few years ago.

A lovely looking little car. It is great seeing some of the between wars cars and certainly Car SOS has shown some of them being restored. You certainly have a passion for classic cars. When I was a lad there was a few people in the neighbourhood who had Austin 7s and they were classics then. You just don't see enough of them these days other than at shows or museums. Keep up the fantastic work.

Nice little Austin 7. Of all the pre-war cars probably the easiest to start with. Loads of parts, lots of info about, dead simple to work on and really fun to drive. I build my own A7 special but am now building a Riley 9 Brooklands which makes the Austin seem positively roomy even though it's a bigger car!

What a fantastic car. Can't you extend the seat into the small area behind the current seat back to give you extra room? It'd certainly make it more comfortable and enjoyable to drive. I'm not a fan of cars much before 1960 let alone prewar, but I'd make an exception on a 7 special, mainly due to reading John Haynes biography, which is very enjoyable and which I highly recommend. His first ever printed manual was instruction for a DIY mechanic to build their own 7 special, which if I had the funds and the ability I might attempt. Great car, just don't get caught out in the rain!!!

It great to see such pleasure from a small classic car. However pre-war cars are so slow.......but so are most roads.....just had first outing in 1968 classic and was followed by V8 M3 through the 30mph limit then into the 40 mph limit and then 50mph all the way to Woburn Deer Park and on way home by a Porsche Panamera.........we were all going as fast as we could / should and I am sure I was having more fun at 50mph.

Must be a 1937 reg.,or earlier, because my first car was DXA 769,a 1937 Morris Eight saloon (four doors, full red leather!)Old side valves are a doddle to work on.Up and over with the bonnet, park yourself on a seat alongside, and adjust all the valve clearances in comfort! Paid six quid for my car.Needed a new carbon ring thrust bearing for the clutch.13s 4d,old money. Did it all from INSIDE the car,in the pouring rain. Just removed the front seats, and unscrewed the floor boards, and every thing was accessible! Can’t do that in your modern cars.
