Thank god for this, finally something totally refreshing to the likes of the TalkSport boxing lot who spend their entire time blowing smoke up the backsides of British fighters regardless of who they’re up against. Even as an Englishman, that’s not what I want to hear because it’s just phoney and false. I want to hear objective insights from boxing experts not cheerleaders for team GB, and these 2 lads are great at a balanced narrative. I don’t follow boxing as part of the national front, I want to see the best boxers in the world face each other regardless of what country they come from, and hear balanced views on the thoughts of each fighter. I like Usyk a lot, I couldn’t care less what country he comes from, he’s a stand up genuine guy and a masterful boxer who produces mind blowing technical ability on the regular, and he’s absolutely fantastic to watch. I believe he’ll win as long as he’s not up against bent judges (and there’s already genuine reason for concern on that front). Great show guys, look forward to more unique thought provoking insights rather than the casual pundits go to safe and predictable (and not always true) ‘a good big one always beats a good little one’ 🥱 💤

I don't understand people that say Usyk wasn't impressive against Dubois. He won all but one moment of that fight that was a low blow and got a stoppage. It was clear to these eyes that Daniel's gameplan was to use low blows and Usyk either avoided or shrugged all but one of them off.

I get that. However, I would argue that he almost looked...ordinary when facing off against Dubois. He looked tired and vulnerable in ways that can be exploited. The sluggish and bewildered Dubois didn't take advantage of that vulnerability (well, most of the time). Usyk readily beat him; however, he seemed to have trouble figuring out how to do this. I don't think that THIS version of Usyk would beat the best version of Fury. I think that the only version of Usyk that has a chance is the Joshua-Usyk 1 version. Of course, if we don't see the best version of Fury, then the point is moot. However, I think that Fury is bringing his "A" game in a way that we haven't seen since Fury-Wilder 2. In fact, he looks to be in better shape than he was in Fury-Wilder 2.

If a genuinely quality champion and gold medalist like AJ, who's a proper big heavyweight, a big powerful skillful experienced fast unit of man with superior reach and power was masterfully nullified and controlled by Usyk for 24 rounds... it's hard to believe that Fury would do much better or enough to beat Usyk. The thing about Fury though, and what makes the fight exciting and puts the result prediction in doubt, is(and I'll be completely honest here) I never felt he was going to win most of his big fights tbh and yet, he did and deserved to win. I thought Klitschko was going to chin him, I definitely felt Wilder was going to destroy him in the first AND second fight along with a good chance in the 3rd yet Fury still won. And don't forget, when he fought Wilder the first time, he was still on the road to recovery from hell, lacked proper activity and was physically far from optimal while Wilder was an active, confident and long reigning champ, regardless of how people feel about Wilder. So, Fury's always found a way and that makes the fight intriguing. 🥊🥊

Ya but here's points worth considering that throws a few variables into what's an expected Usyk win. 1. Usyk massively struggled against slow journeyman Chisora and in some people's opinion arguably lost or drew that fight. Chisora, while durable, comes forward and with big heart, just ain't bringing it like AJ and Fury so that Chisora fight does showcase the classic "styles make fights" ethos in boxing along with Usyk not always bringing his A-game every fight and capable of having a bad fight. 2. This isn't just a regular fight which would still test nerves, no, it's insanely bigger than just a regular fight. It's a fight for undisputed, the first in 25 years. So with that comes an entirely different set of nerves and possibilities. That applies to both guys btw. It's enough to mentally melt most mere mortals. So it's entirely possible that the colossal occasion might get to one of these fighters and start making uncharacteristic mistakes and chasing the fight or fighting too aggressively, forcing the fight etc. If it boiled down to just raw talent then Ronnie O'Sullivan is a 15+ time works snooker champion right? Yet he loses plenty. The psychology and stress of the huge occasions cannot be underestimated. This isn't a video game where a fighter rated 10 is always 10 each fight, that's not how it works in the real world. It's why we watch sport, anything can happen.

@paulkirby2761 Usyk chose Chisora for a tough heavyweight 12 round spar as an introduction.. Usyk chose Chisora on purpose... there's nothing anybody can say to change the fact that Usyk has a God ordained master plan that will guarantee him the undisputed crown against Fury.

Very good discussion between the two of you. Both of you offer valid arguments and neither of you are necessarily wrong. Styles do make fights more often than not. I been a boxing fan as long as Ive been a football fan and have seen so many great fights down the years. I find this fight hard to call for many of the reasons you both gave. Usyk is technically very good and very front foot but how adept will he be on the front foot against a man who is lanky and 6’9”? Had Usyk started to just started to slow down? Will the extra weight he’s adding going into the Fury fight hinder him more than the weight Fury has shedded for it? Maybe the right answer, assuming the fight goes beyond 9 rounds is who will gas out first? Usyk is 2 years older. Will father time now start to ask questions of him? For me? Fury ultimately has too much for Usyk and drops him by the 9th or 10th round.

I do not believe it will be close, whichever way it goes. Like we saw with Spence v Crawford, it does not matter how individually good you are, if there is a top dog - it will probably be shown pretty comfortably. Lots of respect for Usyk, as a southpaw myself I study him daily - but for me it’ll be a stoppage either way, either Tyson will appear to be on a lower level and get chipped away at by Usyk until the 10th or 11th, or Tyson’s size will prove to simply be too much and he stops him in 6. Either way, let’s have a great fight and all agree that we are watching HISTORY

The sparring partner who supposedly cut Fury said it was more of a forearm strike(which is boxing for an elbow)) so wasn't caused by a punch. He also said the reason he threw that was Tyson himself was fighting umm "rough" so he got triggered and fought fire with fire 🔥🥊🤣 But like you guys say, who knows fur sure. Time and again Fury's displayed himself willing and able to cheat and lie(remember that boar meat debacle for example) and it's the classic purposefully grainy footage like some bs UFO footage. You'd actually struggle to find a smartphone with a HD camera and ya, he definitely had gained an advantage from this extra time while also stressing out Usyk. This fight has been very much on Fury's terms in ways. But it could be genuine so... that's for each person to decide. Personally I could see how the cut could be genuine but also see how it was very advantageous for Fury and wouldn't be at all surprised if he paid "Dr Cuts" or whatever his nickname is to very professionally cut him in the least damaging way possible with the fastest expected heal. Create some purposefully grainy bs vid where nobody can properly see what's happening or get a good look at the cut(probably made just before the cut) and ya, I could believe that too. Don't forget the insane amount of Saudi money on the line for the winner and to keep winning. For repeat purses worth hundreds of millions EACH, ya, I'm sure plenty would cut their face to give themselves the additional time to get physically fit and honed for the best possible chance at winning. It's not hard to believe and I'm sure has happened before.

I personally find it unbelievable how much people rate USYK, in the HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION, WHEN HE HAS ONLY HAD 5 FIGHTS AT THIS WEIGHT!!??? I THINK ITS NOT COZ HE IS RATED SO HIGH IB THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION BECAUSE HE IS THAT GOOD, I THINK ITS BECAUSE THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION AT THIS TIME, SINCE HE MOVED UP A WEIGHT, , IS SO POOR, AND HAS SO MANY AVERAGE NOT WORLD CLASS, FIGHTERS IN THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION, BECAUSE IF HE WAS AROUND IN THE 90S, HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION, HE WOULD QUICKLY, GO BACK DOWN TO CRUISERWEIGHT, WITH ALL THE HARD, GOOD HIGH CLASS HEAVYWEIGHTS THERE WAS IN THE 90S. NO HEAVYWEIGHT IN HISTORY HAS BEEN GOOD ENOUGH TO BE WORLD CHAMPION AFTER ONLY 5 HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHTS, EVEN MIKE TYSON HAD, ABOUT 20 HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHTS BEFORE HE WAS READY FOR A TITAL SHOT. ITS JUST PATHETIC, AND ONLY POSSIBLE, BECAUSE THE HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION HAS BEEN SO POOR FOR LAST 10 YEARS

I think that this fight, will be more important and a risk IN Furys mind, than any other fight he has ever had, because this one fight, decides, the History n legacy of TYSON FURY, and even though he says that it is what it is and God will decide on the night, WHO wins, I think, fury has the most pressure on him, because, this fight alone, ends the chapter and STORY of TYSON FURY. IF USYK LOOSES, it won't affect his story n legacy, because, he will still go down in the history books, as a man, who conquered the cruiserweigh division, but b4 that, all the achievements he has made in boxing, through out his career, who will be portrayed as a legend who went on to be a world heavyweight champion, who nearly became a undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, and a autobiography book, or block busting movie, about his life, from a boy to nearly being undisputed, will be a best seller or block busting movie. So still will be successful as a legend. In history. But unlike Fury, if Fury , looses this fight, it will have a more negative outcome on his life story and legacy. So in my opinion, Fury has more to Loose, if he looses this fight, n in his head, I believe, that a loss, will destroy his legacy and so, more pressure on him that he has to win. And with that, he may go into this fight, try too hard and desperate to win. But I still believe and hope Fury does win, but I think he will win on Points. And then, will not agree to a rematch, and probably retire, or have one last fight, against, Anthony Joshua. Win that on points, and then 100% retire, having beat everyone in his eara, and sealed his story n legacy in history, for 100s of years to come. If he beats usyk, there is no way he would risk his record and legacy, on a rematch, coz a rematch could only risk FURYS LEGACY.
