There are 24 hour bowling spots here. Others open until 12 and 1 in the morning. It's a professional sport in the U.S. and a major hobby for other people.

It's not that hard to get. I'm assuming putting baby powder on the hands is something bowlers do to get better friction on the ball or something, so by putting the powder on his hands it makes him look like he was bowling all night, NOT sleeping over at some girl's place. He told her the truth straight up so that when she saw his hands it would seem like he was lying and was actually bowling the whole time. Which is what he wanted her to think. Hard to explain but... it's pretty simple.
