@Rickey Henderson Debatable, my friend. They could go either way. Were they a rock band that played funk? Or a funk band that played rock? IMO they were a rock band that excelled at James Brown, Jimi, and Sly.

I bet the whole of Germany could feel the earth shaking. These monstrous shows in the early 80s were the pinnacle of P-Funk's musical power. And mind it, this line up is missing the whole squad. Maceo, Bernie, Philippe Wayne, and many other funkateers weren't there for this show or maybe the tour. But that didn't stop this jackhammer band from pounding the audiences. Each musician is exceptionally great at what they do and to make it freakier, there is George who brings out the wilder side out of them. Blackbird McKnight played with Miles Davis, we all know what Dennis can do, Greg Boyer on the Trombone is a master of adding humor to his solos but with a lot of complexity behind it, Sandra-the backup singer took it to church (my favourite part of the show), Rodney Skeet Curtis is in my opinion the most committed funk bass player ever. When George asked him if he wanted to solo, he simply refused because he wanted to hold that groove so bad and knew that it was the best thing for the moment. And last but not at all the least, the live sound engineers who mixed the show very well so we could watch it and feel the beat after all these years. I LOOOVE KZread. ❤️

George is 44 here and the last era of him being the totally on fire frontman. . hilarious & awesome to see the young Chili Peppers do the encore. George's protege's and he pretty much passed on the funk mantle to them that year with Freaky Styley. so awesome.

mid 80s P-Funk video is somewhat rare... and this is very high quality performance.. Funkentelechy opening is amazing. The Eddie-Mike duet / duel has me feeling stuff. Eddie needs some volume boost there. This is one of the best Videos of Eddie

Now this sounds nearly perfect! I wish all the Pfunk videos sounded at least this good! The guitars don't get mixed in unfortunately till the 6:36 mark. But definitely one of the best out there!
