Yup, Kleb is absolutely cracked, the amount of map pressure and control you can have feels almost cv lvl honestly.

@@siamshikdar I wonder if the new nerf to Petro 50 -> 40mm of deck armor will make it not so good at tanking, would help it not be banned any longer? Kleber on the other hand is just a meme. It can easily 1v1 anyone and come out on top.

When a ship that's very close to a CV has probably one of the highest skill caps in the entire game (yes looking at Mino)

Meanwhile on console Kléber is exactly the contrary, a sneaky torpedo boat that can shred DDs relativly easly, though it can still be played as a gun boat, but torps is just more effective, and with 1 reload boost its less impactful

It's super fun with a gun boat build! I'm at 13.5km with guns, and 59.6kts for speed. Can be a bit faster, but the range REALLY helps with dodging shells.

That’s bizarre given the extremely short range torps. Even when maxed out, they only go to 7 km. That nerf really hurt the capabilities of that ship. The guns are inferior to the Khaba’s and it’s ability to hold a cap is weak compared to Gearing. I don’t see it having much role right now.

@@notthatproud7453 Are you serious? Kleber fits right in the middle of Khaba and Gearing. Better concealment than Khaba, and better guns than both. It's speed is in a class of It's own. Kleber can also citadel CL's from max range. With the same gunboat set up, Kleber far outmatches Khaba in maneuverability. The guns are among the strongest when comparing DDs. Sure, it has a long reload, but Stand or Fall is there for that. Going back to the speed; sure you might no be able to initially cap, but when you're moving over 60 knots, you can get to a cap much faster than anyone else, and set an ambush.

​@@keyl1m382 James he's talking about the Kleber on console "Legends" it's torp range has got nerfed to 6km Base and 7km with torp range on a commander, on legends its impossible to fight a khaba, you would be lucky to even get a khaba to half health with the 1 reload booster we get, there's a major difference for the Kleber on console vs pc unfortunately :(

Super fun DD. Can play hyper aggressive if needed in closer or farm for years on a flank. I run double concealment on mine. Makes it easier to play in close if i have to by a cap.

I prefer to run double concealment and then fearless brawler without AFT, for me 13 km more than enough range and I like the higfher firerate when fighting DDs.

I use AFT on my Kleber/Marceau. Its good to have extra range for those that like to drive backwards. I also run CE and FB on the build.

for the same reasons I absolutely LOVE leningrad, that speed gives so much flexibility. I play mainly in ranked and its not unusual I sail over 70km

I dunno, i still can average almost 140k a game in Khaba. ONLY if you have unique upgrade and run repair party giving you the endurance for long games. As long as you don't have to make any insane, sharp turns you can throttle juke and still have the DPM to make enemy BB pushes think twice.

I never find my self in games which allow for this type of play. There is always a Super CV beating me down with every squadron. I'm not fighting Hindenbergs which NEVER return fire but rather Nevskys, Smolensks and Petros which can hit me with impunity from 14-16 km distance. The BBs are Schlieffens or GKs with secondaries that keep setting me on fire or just taking off 2k HP very 30 seconds. And I'm typically being perused by pairs of DDs like Gearings or Vampire IIs which keep me spotted and take turns smoking up and farming me until they trap me against the side of the map. But other than that Kleber is a lot of fun.

Although I never really was a big fan of DDs,Kleber and her premium sister Marceau are my favorites in this class. Run n gun,Kite n Flight mode on, priceless

This and Petro were banned from CB's for a reason

legendary kleber is a special girl as well, transforms the playstyle. Can still be deadly to DD's if played right but much more of a threat to CL, CA and BB

Take out incoming fire and add grease the gears, of course watch incoming shells. Generally you get used to it, so I never have priority target or incoming. Only on cruisers which get those random cross the map snips.

Good to know, I can come back to my beloved Kiev play style.

Lighthouse build Kleber for the win. She's still fast and maneuverable to catch up with any DD that doesn't have the balls to open up it's guns on you. And, running her with Aboyneau, and getting her up to 62-63 knots is pretty fun !

So early it isn't even on the "videos" section for me somehow. But searching for PQ this shows up

i have a huge problem with the Marceau cuz the shells is tooo floaty..you fire too much and landed less than half which you fired ...is the kleb has better shells arks ??? more easy to shoot and land your shells on your targets ??

I play my French DDs with dazzle. I just deal with the lack of concealment and use the spotting range of it, to be a major pest. I tend to pressure higher concealment DDs to pop smoke and then rush down their smokes with torps.

@@cemborembo it can be in some regards. I find it has saved me a lot of times though. Most initial encounters are by enemy DD tho, and more often than not they pop smoke. Drops you from being detected and resets the skill. But when you have 4+ships trying to eliminate you, maximizing the strength of being hard to hit, is something I enjoy.

If you are a DD Klebers are very tough to deal with. The only way to zone it is to ask the CV player to kill it first. I have better way of dealing with gun boat DDs with smoke

Whats the torp range in PC? In legends it’s nerfed down to 6km which is rather annoying. Have to give up twist and track for torpedo safari to get the range normalish again

Yes it's fun for who's playing it and not fun for the other side. There is a reason it is banned in Clan battles with petro.

"Aim for the center of the ship" Yes, but... HOW?! It is nigh impossible to hit these fuckers blasting over the water at warp 7,1 while trying to evade and lead your own shots way ahead only for them to miss because a slight tap on A/D for the Baguette and all is going long or short anyway. Extremely annoying ships to deal with if not at point blank range.

its not that hard, zoom out 1 or 2 steps and you will be able to hit them like any other kiter.

@@Halbostfriese nah, the speed just is the distance to lead the shot, the rest is guessing their movement, aslong you dont shoot with a DM or similar slow shells with terrible high arc, it really isnt hard to hit them. if its 1vs1 and he waits for every salvo to dodge, just switch to single fire.

Good advice here. I just switched out to a range build on the Mogador last week. Had my first Kraken in French DD on Tuesday, with 117K two DDs, two BBs (both with torps) and APed an Amalfi to nothing. Yet, apparently the goal of the team was to throw the game, giving up a 200 pt and 3 ship advtg. Welcome to Wows.

MM seems really rough these days. Idk what happened, but 2 months ago or so the CV population in the queue suddenly tripled. DD class population is for some time now one of the highest on EU. Cruisers being extremely unpopular and if some pop up it's mostly Supercruisers or Petros. I think the reason might be, that many DDs fill the roles that was once filled by cruisers, but don't have the risk with citadels, worse concealment and have to pay attention to deep water torpedos. High DPM kiting or shooting over islands? The Marceau can do it just fine. Smoke + insane HE dpm+Hydro? Just pick Sherman. Maybe some utility like AA? Halland has it. Anti DD tools and maybe utility on top+ insane HE dpm with decent AA? Smaland and to some extend Ragnar. The addition of surprisingly popular subs also doesn't help.

Why would you anyone play dds with citadels? You already get ducked by overmatch now wg is introducing dd classes that are basically cruisers with no citadels, great concealment, sometimes better health pool than cruisers (Im looking at you ragner) to even out dpm enemy "norrmal" dds.

@@siamshikdar thats my point, DDs are to some extend the better cruisers now. As for my personal reason playing less lighter cruiser, i hate being cv spotted for 3 sec, only to get instantly shot at by everything on the map, island cover just invites bombers. Their AA was in RTS days god tier with almost 10km range for a reason, not just to protect from CV strikes, but to kill any plane that might spot them, because a spotted minotaur or Atlanta won't survive being lit up for too long.

Did they fix the bug that made the survival skill break the saturation and instead make it less survival?

Kleber is one of the ships I'm grinding towards, currently on the Guepard. It's such an improvement over the T5 Jaguar, I love it. Can't wait to get the Klobberer. I'm about 10 days of coal away from getting the Marceau as well.

The tier 8 is when it gets really good. Mogador at tier 9 is also just a baby Kleber. I’m currently on Mogador and it’s a total troll ship. You can 1v1 any other tier 9 fairly easily.

I absolutely hate facing them. I usually just try to be somewhere else and hope my teammates will whittle them down. No fun when you're in a BB, no fun when one is behind you, burning you and keeping you lit in a cruiser, and no fun when you're a regular ol DD and one pops up, full speed ahead in your direction.

Oh you don’t say? A lack of battleships in a game with subs, cvs, and DDs like Allen that are impossible to hit? Man I wonder why nobody wants to play BBs…

My experience is that people still hit me going 55 kts. I simply cant get my head around how to play this ship... I dont get it!

Ah, the Kléber, I still love her, even over Daring. Also my build. How could I explain it, it's probably the worst build you could get for a Kléber aka a full concealment with RPF. The idea behind this (bad) build is to see where the DD is, turn the turrets in consequence, spring on him with the MBRB, kill him and then flee away to farm out damage at maximum range. As a final note here, if you're wanting to grind the line, the tier 5 to 7 are horrendous, they have bad ballistics that makes it hard to play (I still bring out old Vauquelin from time to time for tier 7 ranked, quite funny because it's not a meta gunboat, you're better off with Leningrad, yet it can Yolo most BB, especially at that low tier were most BB go 20/24 knots) but once your reach tier 8, oh boy, you finally experience first-hand the good ol' French bias, with those flat arcs. Tl;dr my trio of the gunboat is Daring, Kléber, Grozvoi (I don't have any others)

Same. I always play ambush builds instead of farm builds. Helps me win ranked most of the time. I always play for caps instead of farming ships and usually use island cover to traverse the map.

I think that build is very valid for tactical solo play, killing off DDs. The full gun builds are great when working with a concealment DD or for super unicum farmers.

I mostly run in rocks or islands.

Had one kick my butt...

PQ for my next coal ship should I go for the Khabarovsk or the Marceau

I can't speak for PQ, but 99 percent of the player base will say to go for the Marceau. I have both, and will tell you right now that the Khaba doesn't hold up to the French dds.

On the topic of being less BBs. That is by design of WG. All these CVs and SS-s are really there to kill the BBs...

i would drop BFT, 5% reload buff is not amazing : i'd rather take CE and be more effective against other dds

This and Khaba are the worst to deal with.

Sucks against DD’s that smoke and have radar. RPF is ok but rather have the long range.

Torps make this ship a contester to Ragnar. Thanks to them Kleb can be very dangerous at CQB. Otherwise Ragnar would just be better.

You win. You have posted you-tubes 7 billionth video featuring a DD in a match with no CV. There are 3 videos on all of you tube that feature a DD with a CV in the match, but those are all halland matches. Since 99.99999999999% of the time you queue a non-halland DD you get a CV in the match, I feel these videos are unfair.

How!?! That's my question. My Kleber get focues immediately every game. 7 ships shooting at me from 18km. Die in 2 minutes from a CV spotting me and not leaving. Or go to flank and have 4 radar ships taking turns, dry with no lube on me. I never get a game like this. And Capitol ships suck because DPM mechanics. I want blap 'you've been deleted' power. That's what Capitol ships do. But now you shoot someone full broadside and only get 1/3 damage but now you're spotted and 9 ships farm you out in 30 seconds flat with 3 tires, and 119 citadels. This game needs an entirely new spotting system, damage mechanic. Because the RNG is just so wonky now. And detonations need to STOP. every other game is a detonation now with this new update. I had basically full health 75% or whatever minimum is for it, and have 1....ONE damn shell hit me from whatever salvo and boom..ship gone. It's the most annoying retarded mechanic in game. I have started running the Det mod equipment now and STILL get detonations like no bodies business. WG is making this unplayable unless you're a CV.

Fr dds rely on speed juking. If you die from ships shooting you at +12km, it's your fault for not dodging (the right way). Including petros etc.

Want to shout out to the EU server, my Kleber has a 29% win rate, i do love this ship and i do have fun BUT! my teams i get are just so stupid and matchmaking never puts me on the stacked side. It is like watching sheep go to the slaughter and i can feel myself becoming more retarded by watching them they all try to take the cap at the start of the game because i don't for the first 5 mins or so. Out of the 71% lost games i am 90% the last ship alive and most of the time get cancer thrown at me, because of cause it is my fault we lost, even if i am 1 out of 12 players it is all my fault...........Right now i am chat banned for 3 weeks because WG are snowflakes and don't like me calling people out on their shitty performance.

Damage output? Farming battleships? Bruh it has the same dpm as a shima wtf are you saying. Needing a consumable to hurt other ships doesn't make it good, the only good-ish french dd is marceau, and even that is pathetic in balistics department.

Have you watched the vid? Have you played the game in the last 2 years at all? In T10? French dds are busted because they have so much control in their fights. You don't need the MBRB to burn battleships, but you still have it for dd engagements. You fire and they can't hurt you. If you do badly in them then you're playing them wrong.
