The reason you will never be able to afford to buy a house is because wealthy people are buying them to rent to people who can't afford to buy. The market is so unregulated and this results in prices being driven up. You shouldn't be happy to watch content like this.

It’s lovely you’ve priced it under-budget. I’m a young single mum of 2 and rent for my area is extortionate. Around £1300 and up for what I am living in but my landlord is like you and appreciates the struggles financially that young families have, and reduces the rent for me so that I can still afford to live whilst paying rent! Very kind of you x

I"m so glad you have a nice landlord Faye. When I heard what I could charge for that house I just felt really sad. I don't think many people would be able to afford it and also save for a house. The rental market is almost stopping people get on the property market and renting should be a stop gap before buying your own home yanno? Then again, I appreciate that some landlords need to charge the full rent and that I'm lucky xxx

If you are serious about saving for buying & in the UK I really recommend looking into a lifetime isa -I had a cash one and it was the only reason I was able to buy my flat. As I was watching this I just keep thinking how I'd love to live in a house of this style but I'd NEVER be able to afford it. Me and my fiance are saving as hard as we can and even though we have decent jobs, we don't earn enough to get a house anywhere near 200k as our wages dont cut the mustard and its a struggle to save a good deposit 😔 and we're 29 and 30 it's literally soul destroying. So.. As much as you could and would be well within your right to charge full whack for the house, I'd like to share my appreciation for that decision you made to help younger people seeing as you are able to 💕 I would do the same if I could. It would be so nice to live in a place with so many happy memories and a story to it. The house looks amazing and I'm sure you've done your grandparents proud xx

We have just bought a house and are the same age as you. We felt exactly the same and thought we'd never be able to afford to own our own home, but we decided to compromise on location (we both work from home so this was the thing easiest to compromise on). We bought a nice sized 3 bed house for a quarter of the price that we'd pay closer to the city. We're also a 10 minute walk to the beach!! So it is absolutely possible if you can decide to compromise on some of the bigger factors if that's a possibility for you! Good luck!

@@smellmycoffee thank you. And congratulations on buying your house 🏡 😲😄 Sounds lovely to live so close to the beach - that would be a dream. We want to stay close enough to our work and families and it is on the very edge of town as that's where we currently live. My sister is currently looking to rent, and she is a single mother with her 9 year old son. She wants to move so that she can get her son into a good secondary school, but keeps getting rejected because landlords don't like single parents with children. The system is so disappointing and society is set up to fail those who don't fit the "typical" family. Its heartbreaking to watch, so I am so glad there are landlords like you. Its heartwarming and gives me more hope for my sister.

soo happy your back and im in love with what you've done with the house! I recently redid my parents bathroom in their home (on the cheap) using white marble contact paper, cut to size to fit the original outdated tiles. Honestly couldn't be happier with how it looks, the paper is waterproof and doesn't come off no matter how steamy the bathroom gets. but is also removable when you finally decide to redo it! Just a in expensive thought for you, not that there's anything wring with how it looks atm, just if you wanted to refresh it for the meantime. So glad your back and looking beautiful as ever!xx

the house looks absolutely gorgeous, it hits the perfect mark between being a blank slate for whoever is moving in and having its own personality, truly lovely. the subway tile and the sink in the kitchen are to die for and i love that you kept the little details of the house intact (also the doors! the doors are beautiful!) I'm sure whoever rents it will be very happy living there

Really really interesting to see Louise, thank you for sharing! As a young person who's been renting in London for the last few years and had some absolutely horrible experiences with landlords, it's lovely to see that there are some good ones out there. I'm consistently impressed with how you use your platform and privilege in a very positive manner and I'm proud to have been a subscriber for many years (and I'm sure many more to come!)

Thank you for recognising your privilege and then using it to help others!! That's exactly what we all need to be doing with our own privilege. Such a good example for your girls and your community. Watching your reno of this has been a joy - especially when so many renovation videos on youtube are just no where near attainable. I'm so glad you had this house as a safe haven and that it will be a safe home for someone else now

It made me so happy to hear you talking about lowering the price for tenants. My mum has struggled for years to keep a roof over my younger siblings heads as landlords simply don't want to price rentals that would be workable for single mothers, so to see you being so conscious of who you want in the home is amazing to see. You should be extremely proud of yourself to know that the home which was once your safe haven will become that for another generation of children.

Tearing up right from the start hearing about your connection to the house and how your grandparents had it. My Nan sold her house a few years ago and I've since seen it on the renters market after the new owners have updated it and I feel all my memories of the place are forever lost now so much has changed. Such is life I suppose and now the family living there will make their own memories!

I absolutely LOVE how you’ve done the place up. I think you’ve made such smart decisions too, what with getting all the re-wiring done and the other essentials, rather than doing the bathroom seeing as it can wait, and is still in great condition. It’s the exact type of home I would love to move into, and it’s exactly the way I’d want to renovate it too, to someone else! Really big congrats Louise, you should be so proud that you’re offering such stability to someone, and that you genuinely care to give them the very best home. 💜🎉 I’m now thinking that we’re all going to be seeing you on Homes Under the Hammer in the coming year! I for one, would actually love to see you on there! 😂

Amazing transformation it’s a beautiful house that will make a lovely home for a young family! Those polystyrene tiles on the ceilings were all over my mum and dads house when they moved in I remember them saying they were painted orange and brown in some of the rooms and we had wood cladding on the walls of the house we moved into a few years ago the 70’s have a lot to answer for in interior design! Fab video love hearing you talk about the business side as well!
