Thanks for doing the leg work on this. JST claims there is 25lbs of weight in removable wiring in their blog. Make front/rear race crash bars and you'd probably gain a good extra chunk. 2800 lbs no driver is damn good for easy removal items.

Hm.. I have a 02 zx3 (full rebuild, with turbo) i did this too, wonder what it would weigh now. Everything including airbags are out. Drum to disc conversion (12 lbs a side) aftermarket suspension and whatnot. originally 2,598 lbs full interior with spare. Thats a lot of weight savings and makes a good difference.

I got a zx4 I plan on stripping down, car currently sits @2750lbs. Looking into alt. To lexan like even more of a diy job myself. Maybe acrylic sheets maybe plexiglass rough cut. Honestly thought you would drop more weight with everything you removed but I bet it hauls ass still with what you took out.

Also consider relocating the battery to the boot. Better weight distribution, more space in the engine bay and it doesnt expose the battery to toasty engine bay temps so prolongs the life of it.

What kind of shifter do you have? I’m assuming it’s a short throw? Also do you have your stock e-brake still in?

I’m trying to use your video for reference as to where the rear impact sensors are can you confirm weather or not they are close to c pillar/rear wheel well under where the rear seats used to be? It would be super helpful as I can’t find anything online about these impact sensors

what clutch was in this at this time of the video? My car is running the bNR3071 with the XDi HPFP and injectors, but the Spec Stage3+ clutch and Spec LW flywheel are very chattery. Ive been told its normal and some say it eventually goes away..but its def noticeable and I'm only at 1200mi on a fully built motor/clutch.

For a future reference, I got my Focus ST weighed at a Loves truck stop/gas station. $12 to weigh and $2 if you get it weighed again that same day. Mine was FBO at the time with full interior, ST3 package. Weighed 3160 with a full tank of 93 with me not in the car.

I do not know how US "evidence papers" but here in Czechia, Europe we have even weight of that precise car. So stock ST mk3 wagon with heated seats, wipers, windows, standard audio, all cameras, tempo, aircondition ... is 1522Kg (3355lbs)

I'm thinking about doing some weight reduction on my vehicle. I'm concerned if some of these mods are legal in my state and if I need to report any change in seating capacity to my insurance company. Should I look into it, or can I just go right ahead with the mods? This is my daily commuter, and I'm not looking to do anything too aggressive.

so your wet weight is 2800ish that's a lot off a ST3 stock, cf hood and hatch drops combined another 80lbs and cf roof another 80lbs (i have a sun roof) not sure about your tuner. nishan knows his stuff and got my st over 588 wheel hp with a PTE5558 and build sp63 stage 2 long block swapped that's E50 and 609 with E85+VP RX102 = I call it E40RX Mix, stock motor is sitting on the side lines in case i push it to far at this rate might just sell it and get the new C8 and twin turbo kit when they are on the ground

Sounds like a hks. But I couldnt run my hks with my guardian angel. Well atleast thats what stratified told me.

When you add E85 don't you need to change the oil etc service it as the E85 fuks about with the oil.

That’s a sedan. This is a hatch back. The weights vary significantly because of the chassis stiffness and added support. This was also an ST3 so it was loaded. Look at the curb weight before you claim that the scale is wrong. These cars are heavy for the size.
