    Have they said anything about installing containment cells onto cargo grids? If the Tana had a cell, it would be a good entry bounty hunter and competition for the Hawk. I LOVE the Reliant design, I just don’t have a use for it.

    I picked up a Tana because I thought it might be a nice 1-2 person early game mission ship. I love the look of it and have enjoyed flying it especially since they've removed the requirement that it be flown in the "upright" position. Personally I like pancake mode the best for normal flight, though in combat it does handle better in the "upright" mode. Thanks as always for the great content @TheNOOBIFIER1337!

    Reliant Sen - I picked this variant to use as a small and maneuverable exploration vessel. Currently I'm focused on surface hand mining, but feel it offers expanded options as the Verse becomes more diverse. I do have the Cutty Red, which functions well to scan for surface mineral deposits, however, I like the less obtrusive size of the Reliant and the pilot canopy allows me to truly enjoy the view of any moon and planet surface as I skim across them flying nap-of-the-earth. I have other ships for fighting, cargo hauling and traveling fast across vast distances. But the Sen provides a more rewarding experience for the pure pleasure of exploring the Verse up close and personal.

    Great rundown. There's a thread on Spectrum suggesting the Kore stack its cargo and fit in the other variants' living amenities, and that would do a lot for it. Otherwise, I think it has a decent place as a low volume/high value hauler for people who don't want escorts or to fly their Titan or 300 series to the limit. I'm currently trying the Tana, which I see as a budget multirole bomber and longer duration alternative to a fighter. I saw someone suggest the MIS is a decent ship an org could put anyone of any skill in and see them pull their weight in a fight. I think the Tana is similar, on a budget - pull a couple of miners out of their Prospectors, sit them in a Tana on the sidelines, and let them snipe and lob missiles into a dogfight. I'm also looking at a Sen, though, and comparing it and the Tana to the 315p and 325a. For a single pilot, it's hard to beat the 300s, but the Sen's profession start is very intriguing.

    I had the Kore, which I used for VR, because of the great view out the cockpit, good for exploring and looking around in VR. I never used it for cargo, not very profitable, too small. I upgraded to the Tana because of the personal and weapon storage and bed, it's a light fighter so exploring in VR I can defend myself better as I slip away. The Reliant series are awesome for VR, looking around, seeing the universe of Star Citizen, great cockpit view. I use VorpeX and a Rift CV1 to play SC in VR, works great. I have other ships for cargo, so moving up to the Tana, in 3.9, was perfect, was waiting for them to go on sale.

    Very nice video, Noobifier. Thanks for the information and the work. Just two aspects I'd have liked to see in a little bit more detail or depth: the default loadout (what it consists of, just weapon type and size) and a few more shots of the inside of each variant. Finally, something I think you did try to explain but I could not get ahold of: the role of the co-pilot in each variant. Not sure if you'd consider redoing the video with these two extra bits of information, so thanks anyway and keep up the good work.

    I was thinking about getting one, just for that reason. I love the idea of little living space for logging in/out. That's why I got a Mustang Beta. Little did I know that there is NO WAY to carry anything. So until the exploration gameplay gets fleshed out, the Beta is a useless camper.

    The reliants are a very nice starter series. And in my opinion you should be able to buy one in a starter pack, in every variant you wish. So even the "strange ones" get some ships they can start with. and all the others get some base level stuff to fill the holes in their fleet lineup.

    I got the tana, and not only because I think it's the best looking ship in the game, but also because it's my ideal small ship. Good firepower, tons of missiles, good living facilities, 2 seater, cargo room for supplies/deliveries, armor rack, gun rack, it has everything I want. The main thing holding it back now is the terribly underpowered mav thrusters, but when they inject it with the xian dna it's supposed to have, it'll be fantastic. It's basically like a mini cutlass without the large cargo bay now that I think of it.

    I wonder what sort of science one can expect to do with the Sen I personally hope that this could be an entry-level telescope ship, like the Endeavour as a high-level counterpart. Discovering things with the telescope could be a fun mechanic and one that I already enjoy in Elite with the discovery scanner. Now we just need an entry-level particle collider ship for beginner craftsmen :^)

    Awesome video, Noobifier! Thank you for putting this together. You have saved me many hours of doing it myself =] To answer your question: I have the Sen. Combat is fun, but it is not what draws me to SC. For me, it is the exploration/recon and science gameplay concepts. Since the Sen is one of the only science-based small ships currently in the ship line-up it is a no brainer (for me) to have it in my fleet.

    Great video. I'm pretty sure the Kore is not pronounced like "core" but more like "Core-Ay". My brother and I have the Tana and minus a few bugs like not being able to go horizontal and QT so you can't go into the rear during QT runs, the ship is awesome. It's legit a Light Gun-ship now when equipped properly. I'd recommend the Toshimi turrets from Area 18 though for 2xS2 on each ball.

    My gut tells me the Mako may very well end up filling the same role as the Herald. Sure, they could end up making a separate ‘reporter’ gameplay loop, but I have a feeling the Mako is going to end up getting pushed into the data-runner and sigint role that the Herald fills rather than getting its own gameplay loop.

  • @muhschaf

    @muhschaf

    4 жыл бұрын

    we will see. If they DON'T cut corner to the end it may be otherwise. I personally think the herald is more a EW recon Ship and a Data runner. The Mako is more focused on optical stuff, useful for reporting but not really for recon because the distances are normally to far to see shit. Also, like noob already said, the equipment will very likely lit up like a cristmas tree if she is sending.

    The Reliant Sen seems like the most interesting exploration starter ship. The 315P is nice after the redesign but still doesn't seem like a research ship as much as a 300i with a different loadout. I suppose technically that's what's happening here, but when the loadout includes an entirely reworked cargo area, it feels more like a new ship.

  • @istvan5674

    @istvan5674

    In the 315p vs. Reliant Sen I had both and melted the Sen. The 315p is single seat and its sensor suite is ho-hum at the moment. The tractor beam doesn't work atm. The small galley doesn't work atm. It has a toilet that doesn't work atm. For weapons the fixed load-out I had upgraded to has become a liability now. It has luxury, speed, range and 12 SCU of cargo going for it. The Reliant Sen lacks cargo, which really disappointed me after the rework as I thought it would get 2 SCU like the Tana has. It is two person with two beds, a better weapons load-out with the fix, a toilet/shower that doesn't work atm, no galley or ration storage which is really contrary for any ship with a bed and a shower/toilet. It also has a science station which doesn't work atm. However, the sensor suite is on par with the Prospector for finding ore deposits. It is almost perfect for a player and a buddy who like FPS mining to go prospecting together. This is current and likely future gameplay for this ship even after changes come to exploration. After all, the Sen is an entry level science/research ship, not a pathfinder. As such in the future it may (speculation hat on) be able to scan for new and interesting life forms such as medicinal/harvest-able plants as well as valuable deposits. It is, after all, part of the same MISC family as the Prospector, Freelancer DUR and Endeavor. After the improvements I've seen to guns and flight mode I want to pick up another Sen.

    Some of us loved the reliants from the start, and the upgrades make them even better. Hell I was happy with "moth mode" by flying with the wings level. Had 2 kores going just for the dual turrets, but I upgraded 1 to a 325a during the last sale just incase this update happend. Now I strip off some gatts from a tali and mulch some enemies. Will do a lil melty to re-nab a tana again.

  • @benthomson1132

    If they just added two feet.... TWO FEET... to the height of the cargo area, it would double the cargo capacity and then the Reliant Kore would finally be the "mini-hauler" it was sold as. I have a real soft spot for these ships, but it seems like CIG can't figure out some of the most obvious things on the first try (or two). I wish they had dropped the idea of the cockpit rotating along with the wings, and with the aforementioned doubling of the cargo capacity, the ship would be just about perfect for it's intended role. My lone ship is a Cutlass Black, and frankly, it's just about one of the most versatile ships in the game for either a single player or a small group... but there's something about the Reliant that still makes me want one. I just wish they could fulfill their potential.

    Why do people always forget the 16 size 2 missiles in the Tana? It's not a light fighter. It's the game's smallest missile boat, and now it has 20 of them! It's got the same missile capacity as a Cutty Black now (and with dual Toshima turrets, the same pilot DPS too.)

    I got the Sen for entry-level science gameplay since there weren't many (affordable) options. I'd love to be a great pilot, gunslinger, explorer, doctor and mechanic, but reality tells me I could maybe achieve one of those if I put the work in and it won't be as a pilot or fps combatant. Unless SQ42 is a spectacular instructional primer for the PU I will never have the time or skill to get competitive, but I could work in medical or engineering and join a Carrack going out into the black.

    I have a Tana, because I like the idea of training in militia ships so that when I transition to the full military-grade ships I can truly appreciate them. Additionally, I have a bestie I am gonna play the game with frequently, and I like the idea of having a little two-man ship where both operators are relevant, and there's a bit of room to get up and move around. However, even though I don't have it, I am most excited for the Mako. Even if people want other promised gameplay first or whatever, I think this career should be a key focus area area as soon as is reasonable (so probably after salvage and refueling). Having radio and television stations to watch in-game content on while in quantum or doing something tedious while mining is going to be the single biggest thing CIG can do to improve player perception of those things, and Twitch integration of these channels would pull in a lot of attention to Star Citizen.

    I'm imagining News Van/Broadcasting gameplay could be like the following. It can broadcast to in game screens. Reporting on in game events, like being on the front lines of conflicts. Although broadcasting outside of star citizen, could involve broadcasting to some Star Citizen youtube channel or twitch channel. I really like the swing-y wing-y of the Reliant, and the cockpit view is great (though there is a lack of "up"). I don't like how the base model doesn't have a bed, and with the upgraded gun ball turrets, I decided the fighter variant is for me, though I'm seriously thinking about getting the sen variant as well for when they introduce science gameplay. I'm more of a crafter and collector than a fighter. I bummed around a little with a Kore variant and while it does have some cargo capacity, I have other ships in my fleet that are better suited single-seat haulers, so for me, the Tana and the Sen make more sense to keep in my fleet than the Kore. The cargo capacity is so small in the Kore that if cargo hauling is your game, this ship would take an eternity to upgrade out of. I like the Kore, especially with the upgrades, but there are still better ships to do that job. The Reliant is a good platform, but it's better suited to other jobs. Thanks Noobifier for the review, you've helped solidify my own opinions about the Reliant and its place in my fleet.

    Hey noob maybe you can help me on this one. I know you mentioned it in your Kore video briefly. But what are the differences of the two "wing modes" for the reliant?? Even in 3.9 the only difference I can tell is that the vertical mode has very fast Pitch/Roll and non existent Yaw. And horizontal mode has very fast Pitch/Roll AND Yaw. Giving me the impression that horizontal mode is superior in almost every situation. Maybe I'm not seeing something? Haven't really tested in big planet atmospheres but I would have to guess horizontal would also be the way to go in atmo. Any clarification would be nice lol just don't see the point or reason for having the wings being able to move other than it looks cool.

    One thing I think they can do to make the Reliant more interesting is to make them modular. I'm sure that not only could they do some interesting things with the rear modules, but the wings as well. Not sure how they could possibly explain why it changes orientation, though. That's always just been a dumb idea.

    I've always thought the Reliant line looks like a ship that would have been created by the Fallout universe if they hadn't of nuked themselves and actually made it to the 24th century fully intact. For that reason, I bought a Tana for the looks and it seems the most useful, to me.

    It seems they have rightly buffed up the Reliant series. It's sad they have missed the chance to add an entry level mining ship variant.

    Reliant series is cool, but really needs an overhaul, not just some hardpoint updates. The cross section is massive and puts it almost in the same realm as the Cutty with little to no interior space. It's definitely not a light fighter. TBH, CIG dropped the ball hard on potentially a nice series of high end starter ships. For its size, lack of maneuverability, and lack of SCU this ship is just simply another option. 95USD for a Tana? Cutty is $100 with multi crew game play and multi-role. 110USD for a Freelancer, I'm not knocking anyone whos hyped and enjoys their Reliant. I have a Kore I purchased with aUEC and it's a fun runabout/derping ship...Boxes, low level bounties, exploring ect. I feel like price and size Kore needs the originally advertised 30 scu, bed and bath/food that all the MICS ships are known for. Tana should be relabeled as a combat scout ship. The Mako and Sen don't have gameplay yet so tbd. All Reliant series should have 1 S2 shield and S2 QD seeing as they are supposed to be small solo/duo long term crewed ships. It's too slow and too under shielded especially, if you lose a wing you lose 50% of your hard points. I personally would love to buy one, but I cant justify 95 USD on different. Cutty does so much more better and it would be nice if the Reliant series was between starers and the Feelancer/Cutty. Like I said I'd like to see the Reliant series be a high end entry ship not an over priced ship when the Titan can do the same things better as a whole pack for 65UDS. Plus for the Tana missile argument... I can put 48 S1 Arrows on my Cutlass.. .5 sec lock .5 sec ignite 140k damage output. The DPS is stupid if you wanna missile spam. P.S. Your videos are top tier, but after subbing a little over a week ago YT still isn't putting you up towards the top even tho I'm liking and commenting almost all the vids since subbing. I dislike when top tier content gets buried. Just some feed back with the YT debacle.

    Thanks for your answers. I finally found/noticed the buying terminal at New Deal. Bought the Kore, upgraded shields, powerplant, coolers. This ship is very interesting to fly. It seems to me that the cockpit view has been designed for VR. I like the easy access to all screens. Buying able to contact spaceports just by looking up and pushing on the comm bouton is great. The flying model is different from the Titan, Cutty and Freelancer. It is very good for CS1 and CS2 bounty hunting. Yes a bit slow. Ok i cannot stand up and go in the cargo area... well I have been playing Elite Dangerous for 1,000 + hours so ... I’m used to that. For me this ship worth the value of testing it with virtual money.

    If you are wondering about what vehicles fit in the Kore, the Cyclone is too large (It almost fit and you may be able to crash it into the cargo hold, but then you wont be able to take it out). All the smaller vehicles will fit more or less easly. You may also be able to carry around two hoverbikes depending on how many evil spirits haunt them in the current patch.

  • @RoballTV

    Yup, no bed, superior DPS potential, but still sluggish. Apparently the weak spots have more HP now, but from what I've seen people still say they get shot off easily. So it's no longer awful, but the Titan still trumps it, it's not useless anymore though.
