This is definitely fake . I heard an EXACTLY similar story . Same with the husband and MIL planning to take away OPs one of the twin and to give it to the infertile sister-in-law. But the ONLY difference is that in that story OP found out way earlier and left the husband way before giving birth and won custody .

@@ninahoffman7199 That’s the only part that’s gets different . In the other story the OPs mother isn’t involved at all until I think the court case. Because in that story OP herself gathers the evidence . The series of events go like that as well. The hushed phone calls . MIL hating her guts until the twin news and suddenly becoming an angel and offering to help , cook meals , throw a gender reveal and what not . It wasn’t until the time gap where she says that she gave birth and “lost” one of the twins did I realize that this wasn’t the same story . Because everything else was 100% the same 😭 The OP in that story only found out when she overheard her husband and MIL talking in said party. And she immediately left , filed for divorce and got full custody and the husband got supervised visits . In that story the SIL never got the twin. But I am not sure on THIS part but I think the SIL and SIL’s husband also apologized profusely to OP for the MIL and husbands doings

I stopped at the mom's story. The while thing is BS... there's no way a doctor and an entire hospital would risk a MASSIVE LAW SUIT for some dude and his mom giving a twin baby to an infertile couple. The second the doctors lied and said the baby died I was like... just no.

Basically the person got twins and the mother in law and husband were really excited. The person writing the story was weirded out by them as they were sudden really happy about twins but not a lot about the single child. The mil and husband were helping out a lot and being suspicious by having private conversation like “be careful “ and stuff like that. When they had twins one was supposedly dead and taken away without anyone seeing it. It was given to the sister in law

This sound so fake.

I’m calling bs. Are these two children to be kept apart forever? Is the sister in law never attending family functions ? People be will immediately notice the two girls are identical. And share a birthday. Not to mention one corrupt Dr is definitely a possibility but this would involve many medical professionals.

Not the usual paragraph guy: Basically to sum it up MIL and husband after learning op was having twins came up with a plan to have a corrupt doctor tell op that one of her babies were still birthed and thus only 1 twin survived. The missing twin had been adopted by SIL who only knew about a private adoption her mother set up for her, because SIL is infertile. Ops mom discovered what had happened and gives op the information, this happening 2years after the birth as she only now had solid evidence. Op immediately confronts the husband that confesses to it after a bit having been roped in by MIL. Op ultimately divorces and sues her in laws ex husband and MIL get jail time, doctor is permanently barred from practicing. And SIL gives back the baby with no repercussions as she could be deemed innocent. Op and her found daughter are in therapy as the baby has only ever known SIL for 2 years. Also SIL now has to go through extra procedures in case she wishes to adopt again. All in all I hope the MIL husband and doctor all end up on lists that keep them away from children or back to jail as well as all the doctors past procedures are investigated for doing anything else. All in all hope those 3 never see the outside of cells ever again.

This type of thing does happen. The doctors who do that, don't do it for free. They get big money for it. Just like any other con artist/criminal,they believe that they won't get caught.

This got me thinking, babies generally look very similar, so in case of twins they may be indistinguishable. Unless you keep them marked at all times, before the time they are smart enough to respond to their name, which might also be difficult since they would always be together, hearing both of their names, how can you ever be sure that a switch hasn't occured? When you give two tiny infants who look exactly the same names, and birth certificates, how can you a couple years later know that the one you call A is the one you originally intended to be called A, and B is the one you originally intended to call B?

The OP's ex husband and ex mom in law have shown their true colors and have been punished for their actions by receiving a serious prison sentence, the doctor has his medical license revoked for life and the op has been reunited with her twin daughter, but the OP's sister in-law and brother in law should be given a chance to have a great relationship with the girl because they have no idea what happened back then and should be forgiven outright down the line, whatever happens next is for the op to decide period.

Only half way through and won’t finish story. Maybe if child sold to stranger out of state but given to sister. This might have been a true story to somebody back in the 1970s or further back. But if this is supposed to be a current story, there's no possible way that this is real. First off, they have to show you your child. They legally cannot take a child away from the mother after birth, unless there is a court order or an emergency that involves immediate surgery. But if the child passed, they would have shown her the child. Secondly, they wouldn't take the child out of the room to work on the child. Because everything would be in the room waiting for them if they needed to operate on the child immediately. Third, the mom miraculously gets all this evidence. Including both sides of a phone conversation. Fourth, getting adoption paperwork information that would be sealed to the general public. Fifth, the coincidence of not only her husband's sister adopting a child right around the time of her children's birth, but also the fact that they would more than likely look exactly alike. And finally, finding a doctor that's corrupt enough to not only risk his license. But also risk his freedom. This sounds like the poorly written plot of a Hallmark movie. Just being honest.
