Brittany was doing too much and his son was just as bad. Brittany would have been storming out of that house. They were taking advantage of him and the red flags were right there from the beginning on fire.

After op tells his son to get a job, because of is cutting him off, his daughter in-law starts hitting on him and tries to seduce him. When confronted she acts offended. Dil and son leave and tell op that they're staying at Dil's parents house. Op's friend Mike does investigative work on son and finds out that son planned on extorting op for his wealth with the accusations of being inappropriate to Dil. Op confronts them and kicks them out of his life

As a guy two generations younger than OP, his suspicions are true. Dude, you had every right to call you son and DIL out for the crap they were originally gonna pull. And if they try to slander your reputation, obviously expose them online and include proof so they can't accuse you of slander.

I had suspected they were planning to falsely accuse the dad/FIL, but I didn’t think how deep the plan would be.

OP sounds like a nice guy who might have been savvy about business but he sure was a pushover for his son and DIL. And for FOUR YEARS? Coulda-woulda-shoulda be pushing those two to remember 'temporary' got too long after 6 months... ok, be generous, one year. But you sure should not have been supporting their lifestyle! I do get that you were grieving and dealing with the loss of your wife, but seriously, FOUR YEARS? Good for Mike. Good luck OP. Sounds like enough time passed since your wife's passing. Move on, keep son and DIL cut off. He won't change. Move, be NC, and retake life. 62 is still young enough to make new friends and maybe even fall in love again. But do keep up with therapy so you don't find yourself enabling some gold digger.
