Full SOUND - April 1, 2012 - FIRE - Chelsea Street, East Boston

Follow up video, day after FIRE: • DAY AFTER the April 1,...
Fire in the residential building on Chelsea Street, East Boston, MA on Sunday afternoon of April 1, 2012.
original video (with messed up sound): • April 1, 2012 - FIRE -...
I was just finishing walk with my dog, when I turned a corner on Chelsea Street I could see fire coming out of one window, in a matter of SECONDS it spread to the rest of the apartment and by the time I started recording it has spread to the next building.
Firefighters and police did an AMAZING job!!!
Luckily all people in the building seem to have made it out unharmed!!!! As you can hear I was talking to the gentleman who helped all the people in the building get out!
Please check your fire and CO2 detectors, the building went up in flames as if it was made from paper! Very scary!

Finally! A department not scared to use the deck gun! BFD had water on this fire in less than 30 seconds. Amazing job brothers!

This is one of the best FD responses I have seen in a long time. Crews came off trucks ready to work, quick stretch of hand line to begin exposure protection, followed by using the truck's deck gun to further put out/protect the exposed building. Why do so many departments show up to a fire not ready to go on air, and take so long to get water flowing? Great job Boston FD!!!!

Awesome job. They connected to a main and had the exposure extinguished and protected quickly. An example of a well trained and thinking department. Kudos especially to the apparatus operator for getting the deck gun into play so quickly.

%90 of the time I'm checking out videos involving my native FDNY but this was a good vid showing the Boston Fire Dept. That got water on the fire very shortly after showing up and two ladders up. Props from NYC to BFD!

Typical Boston. Beautiful first due truck placement, awesome engine position (leaving the front wide open for the truck) and an aggressive attack

Great use of the deck gun to get control over the exposure. I feel like people always forget about the deck gun, should be used more often.

Oh no prob at all!! Its just, 40 years ago, was born and brought home to one of these houses. Not sure if it was my building or not. My Dad said we didnt have arched door ways, but I took a trip through mapquest, and couldnt find a house similar to his description. Still sad either way, but great job on the Boston boys!! Thanks.

Truck 56 seems to be the most actual/effective one of the States in 2012. Never saw this before on youtube in the States. We have trucks with waterguns since decades in Europe. Even the Russians do have this efficient otion mounted upon most trucks. What model is it?

Deck gun on the exposure is totally the way to go. Ought have put some fire into the primary affected fire apartment. But, he may have been concerned about inside guys getting hurt. Looked like he had plenty of flow, and then went to turn up the engine speed on the pump. Later, the flow is a bit agressive, might damage the exposure building. I'd have left the engine speed where it was.

I notice that he only briefly hit the exposed building, and the rest of the time they were content to bounce it off the corner of the brick building. The backwash did the job just fine without bringing direct pressure on the wooden exposure.

Yep, good job by the engineer. I would've liked to have seen him hit the fire apt. for about 20-30 seconds to knock down some fire (coordinated with the entry team of course), that way he could've saved them some work and a lot of heat. But good job none the less.
