Again - really nice work. I took your advice on the 3 micron - instead of the Gunny Juice, I used a Jende diamond lapping film after the 1000 diamond TSPROF stone on my Delica. Viola! Very impressive, couldn't be happier with such a nice polished edge. It really is a good feeling when just opening a letter to see that shiny, polished, razor edge! Appreciate these longer, start to finish tutorials. Thanks again...

I agree with everything except the tsprof part… that im still not completely convinced of. I’ve been using my tsprof for almost a year (sharpened hundreds of knives on it) and I’m pretty sure some of the edges I did on the KME were in fact better in every way. Now I’m not saying that’s completely due to the system but its still worth mentioning because regardless of the system, it really comes down to how you use it and your competence with it. And even though the TSPROF Kadet Pro is my main system currently, I still own my KME and enjoy using it for some knives and get just as good results when using the venevs with it. I think a fair conclusion would be that any system you sharpen hundreds of knives and put thousands of hours into is going to provide you with excellent results because you put the time and work in to learn how to make the tool do what you want it to do!

Learning here and I'm full of questions, hoping it's alright to ask ? 1. I noticed when you are feeling with your fingers there are shavings still on the bottom side of the blade when you flipped it as well as on your fingers. On a black knife like that, aren't you afraid of scratching the coating and it showing up on the blade ? Maybe it's because this is not an important knife but lets say it was an expensive knife with a black coating. How would you clean the shavings off the blade ? I've been scared to sharpen one of my spyderco's because of this, I don't want to scuff of the beautiful blade. School me. 2. I noticed sometimes you go up and down and sometimes you sweep, why the different ways ? Does it matter ? If so, why ? 3. Over time of using your stones, you'll use each stone more or less than the other causing more wear or less. In a case like this will you use the thickness compensator method for each stone ? In other words, your 100 may be thicker than the 1200. Do you just ride with it or would you adjust angle according to each stone? 4. I see the outline on the blade where your clamps where and didn't come off when you cleaned it with alcohol ? Is that permanent ? What is that from ? And thanks for making the video, wish you would do more.

Was I out of line for asking those questions ? I'm only trying to learn because my knife collection is getting into more expensive knives. I just dont want to mess up my blades because some have the black coating and it seems to show more scuffs. For example, I sharpened a brand new Manix 2 and when I was done, I see scuffs where I was wiping off the slurry from the shavings. What is the proper way or is this something thats just going to happen ? I noticed on your give away that mark where your clamp was is still there and I'm sure you've cleaned it. Why is that there ? How did it get there ? How do I prevent that cause I dont want that on my brand new spyderco. Just want to learn guys.

Nah bro you’re good, I didn’t see this until now, I had a crazy busy week and weekend was also nonstop. Also thats a super loaded question so it’s going to take a long ass time to answer it all! But I don’t mind and I will. I always do my best to answer everyone’s questions, sometimes it just takes a little longer. But the short answer is that a Spydercos DLC coating is wayyyy more durable than the coating on this knife and the chances of me scratching it when feeling for a bur is slim to none. When cleaning the particles from your blade, if you spray it first it helps prevent scratches and also what you use to wipe it and how you wipe it makes all the difference in the world. You want a clean rag or paper towel and after you spray, you wipe down only with no pressure. Never wipe side to side until you know all the debris have been removed and don’t wipe the blade with the same rag you wiped the debris away with. I’ll answer the rest as soon as I can. And incase you didn’t know, I have a entire sharpening playlist with alot of tips videos and tutorials with full demonstrations! Hope that helps 👊🏼

These are the Hapstone start series CBN stones. I bought these at gritomatic and they are good stones, they move alot of material quickly and they hold up very well and stay flat with minimal maintenance and they are affordable compared to the other options. The downside is that they don’t give you as fine of a scratch pattern as resin bonded diamond stones like the venev orion series will so they arent the best for mirror edges. All depends on your needs, wants and budget.

Definitely the best value! They save storage space and shorten time for changing stones because you just flip it over. I’m definitely glad they offer them as a option because I otherwise might not have tried Venevs for a long time just because of their price. But even before I got my kadet, I was using venevs with my KME and that combo gave me some of my best edges ever (as far as both aesthetics and sharpness). Then after I got the Kadet Pro, I tried a few different types of stones for it and wasn’t really impressed until I got Venev resin CBN for it and that was pretty much a night and day difference. I agree that the Venevs are a game changer. I can’t possibly imagine anyone getting worse results with venevs lol… they are definitely the shit!

Oh and before I lost track of my original thought, I was going to say… Even though the double sided are great, I still like the individual Venevs and would like to eventually get a set that have the edge-pro backing to them because they would stay in the Tsprof holder better. I’m probably going to try out the updated stone holder pieces because they look like they would hold both stone types a little better than the original holder pieces which don’t work as good for standard style stones.
