In all seriousness, Poch must really not have liked the set-up under Boehly. Because he actually low-key did a great job turning around Chelsea from 12th last season on 44 points to 6th on 63 points. Not to mention getting them to the Carabao Cup final, nearly beating City in the FA Cup semifinal, and getting Chelsea back into Europe. People can banter and mock all they want but Chelsea are literally the youngest side in the entire league with fantastic young talent. Poch must have really not liked the set-up behind the scenes to leave such a young and talented side. My guess is the big sticking point for Poch was being completely opposed to Gallagher, his captain, and Chalobah being sold for pure profit as homegrown players.

This Chelsea team reminds me of Arsenal from the 2021/22 season. Arsenal had the youngest squad in the league and finished 5th that year after a poor start. They were in the relegation zone after the first 5 games of the season, I believe.

Yeah I think you summed it all up perfectly. Selling Gallagher is step backwards, a line was clearly crossed that was too much for Pochettino. He did the noble thing walking away.

This is the definition of insanity. Under Potter & Lampard Chelsea were a complete and utter disaster. When Puch was appointed, the ship was sinking, and everyone was heading for the lifeboats. Poch has plugged the holes and steadied the ship which saw Chelsea playing superb football at the end with 5 wins on the trot. Why on earth would the club not bend over backwards to keep him? I'm sure they will bring Jose back for a 3rd and even more disastrous spell than the last.

2 days after securing European football and finishing in 6th place in the Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino decided to leave Chelsea and he’s out the door after just 1 season in charge. Even though they didn’t have a great season on paper because I don’t why people think that finishing in 6th place is an achievement for a team that spent over a billion dollars despite ending the season on a high, him leaving isn’t because of their on field performance, it’s because of what’s going on off the field. There’s a feeling that Todd Boehly has more control over the club than Pochettino does. It does make sense a little bit because he is the owner and he is above the manager, but the manager should be the one who’s in control and have a say in transfers which players he wants, which players should be sold loaned out etc. . With Boehly and the people who work with him behind the scenes aren’t the ones who are going to properly back the manager and for Pochettino he sees it as an issue working with incompetent owners who run the club whoever they want. There’s one thing that hasn’t at Chelsea even under their new ownership which is the constant managerial merry go round. Under Roman Abramovich even though they constantly changed managers, thr owners at the club actually knew what they were doing, under Boehly it’s been nothing short of a circus show there with them not just signing a bunch of overpaid mercenaries giving them 8 year contracts, managers have been unable to cope with an owner who knows little about football. Ever since Todd Boehly took over at Chelsea, despite spending over a billion dollars, they’ve had more managers than trophies won during this period and haven’t finished in the top 4 in the Premier League and yes I get it finishing 6th place after being mid table for so long seems like an achievement and I get it it’s a relatively young and inexperienced team, but the fact that a team that has spent a lot of money we’re even praising them for finishing in that position in the table tells you how far they’ve fallen off and they’re nowhere near the level they used to be when they were an elite team. I don’t understand how the bar has been set so low for them and I don’t see how this mentality is good enough. Now that Poch has left, many people want to see Chelsea bring back their former managers in Antonio Conte Jose Mourinho’s and Thomas Tuchel because all of them are without a job now and let’s see which manager they’re going to hire, I would be fine if they bring back Mourinho for a 3rd stint at the club.

Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho only played lower league football, Ange only played semi-pro, Eddie Howe, who brought Bournemouth from the 5th tier of English football to the Premier League only played lower tier football and the Heidenheim coach, who brought them from the 5th tier of German football to finish 8th in the Bundesliga, only played lower tier football too. It means nothing. And the reverse: Lampard is a joke of a manager despite being a Chelsea great as a player.

Managers want to do everything possible to win NOW. Chelsea owners are simply too smart to attempt to do that. They know they would fail like everyone else to catch City. They understand to catch City you must spend on youth and allow that youth 3-5 years to develop together. They have spent a billion on players under 23. Why shouldn’t they allow those players the chance to develop rather than going and signing a bunch of 27-32 year olds so they can finish 2nd rather than 4th next year?
