Full Plumbing System Conversion | Back boiler to Combi

A couple of days in my life as a plumber
In this video I remove an old back boiler and install a combination boiler
The reason I took this job on was to try and help the customer get their life back on track, I didn't have to but when I looked at the job I felt sorry them, I did the best job I could under the circumstances
As always, thanks for watching, all the support is greatly appreciated

People like you Tom are the reason I know that humanity is still alive and not everything is done for personal financial gain. I salute your professionalism and attitude even when faced with the most challenging situations.. You sir are a true inspiration to all newbies (& oldies like me) to always do your best... After all... we're not social workers to judge another person's journey to where they are at personally in life... Keep up the fantastic work mate..

I wish you could come sort my Dad’s boiler! He has a back boiler behind a stone fireplace. Yesterday I just found out it hasn’t been serviced the whole time he’s lived there, since 1992!! Nobody will touch it. Someone knocked through the fireplace at some point to access it but they couldn’t do much. Ever come across anything like that? Stone fireplace with a heater like the one is this video. I’m searching for solutions since I found this out, very worrying.

It sounds an interesting one, not many newer engineers will have much experience on BBU's as they are getting few and far between now, they can become dangerous as they are open flued, which means if the flue ways become restricted products of combustion can enter the room. I would strongly recommend getting someone in to look at it, if his neighbours have similar setups in their houses you could ask them who they use. I hope everything works out OK with it, any more questions feel free to ask

😂😂yeah, one of these jobs where you wipe your feet coming OUT!!! Well done Tom, you did a great job under the circumstances. Oh, I just did my ACS resit & copper as a Gas Pipe sleeve is a no, no!........latest Skool of thought by the powers that be, copper will corrode in the wall, so PVC Plastic is your best bet. Eh, & not ABS waste pipe either, it’s not suitable?! As always, we live & learn. Or, it’s more the case; you listen to their shite, do your best to adhere to it, until they change their mind.👍👍👍👍👍

Have they released a technical bulletin on that, as far as I'm aware the sleeve should be in a material capable of carrying gas and should ideally be the same material as the pipe, I was always told plastic sleeves were not allowed and if steel pipe is used a steel sleeve should be used, you could well be right though, I just might be working on old information. Thanks for watching as always mate

@@PlumbLikeTom Though Tom, BS6891 says copper is an acceptable sleeve. But I can understand the thinking that it’ll corrode, as copper does against masonry. TB040 does confirm BS6891. Strangely, it doesn’t say ABS, which I & many others use. I guess I’ll need to buy some PVC pipe.
