He never said anything about hating a nation or a people. He specifically said he loves Europe but hates the European Union. Hating a political union is not hating a nation or a people.

The EU is an organisation that many people love and cherish, me personally too. She didn’t like Farage and neither do I, so it’s very fair what she said, because it is like hating a country because any national flag you see in the EU is always accompanied by an EU flag. People feel part of the Union and so do I.

The fact that there's a massive shift to the political right underway, to the point that the BBC and Politico are now finally have to acknowledge it, is very telling. And along with that, a rise in Euroscepticism. Although it would be better to rephrase that as EU-scepticism. I'm a proud Englishman, Brit, and European, but I think the EU needs radical reforms at the very least.

@@konraddobson “Most Europeans are optimist about about EUROPE’s future. EU proponents don’t seem to understand the difference between the two.” I’m afraid you are mistaken: (I wanted to link my sources but youtube won’t allow me. So search for euro barometer polling about the subject at hand and for a video called “Why are Europeans optimistic about their future” by TLDR news) “The fact that there’s a massive shift to the political right underway…is telling” You are correct to asses that the political right is on the rise, but there are reasons I believe their rise will be cut short: •the political right you’re mentioning often uses a populist rhetoric. This makes it so they are especially successful during crises. It just so happens that the last 15 years have been filled with such crises, but eventually, we’ll reach a point of stability and right wing populism will cease to exist as a political force. After all, there’s a reason we hardly saw any such mainstream movements before 2008. •the moderates of the political system are beginning to organize themselves. In my country, the centre right and the center left parties formed a coalition to cut short the rise of alt right This right wing resurgence is merely temporary, much like the one Europe experience during the 1920-1930s. This one will eventually be cut short, maybe not by another World War, but certainly by the ever changing nature of our political landscape. “And along with that a rise in Euroskepticism.” I’m not sure where you’re getting your data from- very few mainstream right wing figures actively want to leave the EU. Brexit was so clearly a failure that not even leaders like Meloni and La Pen are considering leaving the EU a feasible political strategy. The electorate has seen the unstable path that the UK choose by voting to leave. We’ve decided against it. “The EU needs reform” I couldn’t agree more that reform is required for the survival of the Union, yet Brexit failed to bring any reforms on the table. Farage acted like the UK public (68 million out of 400 million) was somehow entitled to lead the EU. Once it turned out that one country isn’t enough to change the Union, instead of trying to convince others he was correct and his reforms are necessary, Farage opted to leave entirely. You can’t change something if you give up so easily.
