FULL MOTO. Southwick 2011 - Ryan Dungey Misses the Start! Barcia, Brayton, Metcalfe & Villopoto

Спорт

In one of the most epic comebacks in Pro Motocross history, Ryan Dungey starts 2011 Southwick Moto 2 nearly a lap down yet rages well inside the top 10 on a rainy, muddy, nasty day in the sand. In brutal conditions all day, favorites like Ryan Villopoto and Justin Barcia also had ups and downs, whih led to a long-awaited and long-overdue first overall win for Brett Metcalfe. It's one of the wildest and most memorable days at The Wick. Which is saying a lot!

Ahhh Yes, thanks Racer X for the reminder that Weege and Emig completely missed the start / thought they were racing the parade lap on what would become one of the most noteworthy motos of all time... haha

It's true! When the storm hit all our equipment died and we didn't have monitors. Eventually they got us the feed of the Dungey in the pits camera, but we never saw the race track. We didn't have windows in our truck and to this day I will never understand how no one got in our ear to tell us the race was actually starting. We literally could not see or hear the race track at all.

@@ygantmedia absolutely Weege, not hating on you, just one of those things. I know Steve has given you hell multiple times on the review pods. It was out of your control for sure. Can we blame Bondo? Haha

@@CodySiler JT literally STILL made the joke about missing the start on this week's episode of SMX Insider, which we posted today. 13 years later!

When the storm came our monitors went out and we literally never saw it...our trailer didn't have any windows, so without the monitors down we couldn't see or hear anything from the track whatsover.

@@ygantmedia interesting insight! Thanks for sharing. The hurricane, dunge’s bike, barcia winning a moto on a 450 while basically a 250 guy, and metcalf winning? Wild day of racing!

@@ughetti191 The scoring monitors back then always showed the parade lap. So we saw some bikes flashing through the scoring monitor and thought we were good. When it clicked over to a second lap, Fro and I looked at each other like "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh no." Wild day of racing for sure but one I wish I could have back!

I remember watching this and just felt terrible for Dungey at the start of the 2nd moto. Great comeback ride. Didn’t lose focus and charged his way forward. That is what makes a champion

the frame is stickered and has to be raced on that frame. the motor, suspension, wheels and everything else can be changed except the frame/chassis.
