There was an Okra growing contest for the longest pod on KZread last year and I'm the reigning, defending champion. That's right the longest Okra pod was grown in Michigan!

Mushrooms are super-beneficial to your garden! The mycelium (white webby-looking stuff) that grows underground wraps around your plant's roots, forming a symbiotic relationship with them. Fungi takes toxins out of your plants in exchange for sugars that help the fungi to expand it's mycelial web. Keep them around! Friends helping friends!

We have been having a wonderful spring here in zone 7B. We were a little dry but got some great rain over the weekend. The rain really does make the garden explode with life.
So cute, your smile when you're talking about your favorite spot in your garden

@Anna Walker, I just literally found & subbed to this fantastic site, & have started to go through each video...but I have a huge problem with ants in my garden, if you don't mind could you repeat your remedy, many thx
@annawalker3587

@@VK-qo1gm you take one scoop of the fire ant nest and pour it onto another nest, the ants fight to the death. I usually just mix a scoop of each ant pile into the other.
Jess you should turn your cottage garden to a "Snacking Garden". And grow things that never make it into the house, like strawberries, blueberries, sugar snap peas ect...
I love these tours (and the daily updates!) They're really encouraging and reassuring. I always have this low level anxiety that everything in my garden will fail, because maybe one thing isn't perfect. But seeing the daily and weekly updates has really helped me understand what is normal and not to get freaked out over. And its all so inspiring-- my veggie garden doubled in size this year, thanks to your inspiration!
I have not seen even ONE honey bee this year, very few butterflies, and I am also FREAKING OUT. Where have my pollinators gone?????
@Ristina81
5 жыл бұрын
JoAnn Hite I have had only a few bees and one butterfly. I don’t have any veggies flowering though yet bc I’m in northern PA. I planted some pollinator flowers for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Hopefully I get some visits soon. It’s getting scary to not see many.

I'm in South Australia and sadly I've found the same in my garden this year - very few bees and no butterflies!! I had a friend comment the other day (he lives in the bush) that he used to get a windscreen full of bugs whenever he took his car out, but now- hardly anything. This is actually scary and very strange.

I leave my hummingbird feeder (with sugar water) out away from my house, and during the warmer days bees come for a snack. I might put a few on my garden posts to keep them fed.
Has anyone guessed alpaca yet? Generally people gat a few at a time, and if they aren't looking for more milk the alpaca's hair is super soft and made into yarn 🤔🤔

McKinnon Riley I did yesterday. I said sheep and alpacas. Cuz they said before they were not ready for a cow so idk what else it could be lol. Great minds think alike 😉
All the clearing in the woods around you may have disturbed their usual pathways The noise of the machine may have kept them from settling as close to the garden as they usually do. I did some mason bee houses next to my food plots and they were quick to take advantage of it.
This garden introduced me to the beauty of zinnias... forever to be in my garden

I love the idea of clearing the woods and making all that space for a bee hive.
Congrats on your first tomato! I have a sun gold cherry starting to turn!
You're favourite spot is beautiful. I love the arched trellised isle leading to the pavilion. It's starting to look like how you described your vision for it. Once those trellises fill out completely it's going to look stunning. Thank you for sharing ❤

Thank you so much for sharing your garden, your family, your life with us. I almost feel related to you more and more as we spend time together. I find myself missing you at times...so glad you are there, and I bless you too! Nite nite 😘😇💕
Jess if you remember I started building my raised beds. Inspired by your garden. This is our first year to do raised beds. . Yes the pest are very bad early. I’m probably 3 -4 weeks ahead of y’all . Our Garden is beautiful. It is amazing what great composting has done for us. Thanks for great ideas to get me motivated. God bless y’all .
I live in clarksville, Arkansas and I love your videos. My daughter just started watching and this year will be her first garden. And her son loves the garden too.
Loved this tour! Thank you! 🌸

This came up random, so glad I had a look, love what you guys are doing! it's amazing, just subbed
I realize that the weather is affecting my garden too especially with my cucumber plants. Loving those zinnias so beautiful and first time seeing a variegated rosemary . Thanks again for sharing your garden with us.
I loved that idea of randomly planting in the garden ...after i watch that video of you and Ben doing that i grabbed my seeds headed to the garden and started poking seeds in everywhere and just wrote on a Tab what i poked in what box OMG it was so freeing LOL
I so love that moment when the sun hits ,in just the right way and lights everything up It's my favorite time of day....just lovely Love you to...and yes it has been a crazy spring this year
Lovely garden😍😍😍
Love watching your videos always so inspiring 😁
Your channel is the best, you guys are rad
Look forward to your videos everyday!!! So stoked on guys are getting bees!
This was wonderful to see! Thank you for sharing ! I am the same way with the garden, very orderly for the first half of the summer, by August (in our area) is when things go completely crazy and it’s constant trying to just keep things picked lol. I know what you mean about zinnias, I just explained to my husband the other day that I never realized how many types of varieties of zinnias there were and how much I love them! I actually want a garden tattoo, have for ages over some scars I have. I’ve sown loads of zinnias and sunflowers in our garden. We finally got rain today after everything struggling for nearly two weeks. Can’t wait to see everything take off!! Thank you again for the tips and for sharing all this with us! 🌈❤️
Lookin' good! Thanks for the heads up about the importance of all the pollinators, we all need to be helping them to thrive.
I started growing zinnias because seeing it in your garden last year Awesome garden tour
Thank You!!!
I love zinnias as well😊 mine haven’t bloomed yet but I’m in Western Canada so our growing season starts a bit later. Love your videos! Just found your channel recently and I’ve learned so much from you in that short time❤️
Thank you for sharing. Love it. Blessings Always

So lovely Jess. So beautiful. btw I heard that May was the 2nd rainiest in U.S. history EVER. Explains a lot. 😅🌸
Wow. Enjoyed our time together! Bless ya back!
Ooh! I've got the purple beans. Can't wait to see them in my garden.
I think if I recall, Ben dropped your packet of seeds in water. I think that’s why you planted that many zinnias.
I live in a tropical weather and roselle was really hard to germinate. I ended up nicking a corner of the seed shell and placing them for 24 hrs in water. They all sprouted! I planted them afterwards and now they are thriving.
I have never heard of the Malabar spinach until a month ago. I am trying it this year as soon as I can get it in the ground! Also the teeny tiny, red current teaspoon tomatoes. So excited. I bought a few new things to plant thanks to you!! :)
I'm in zone 4. We will be planting winter squash and pumpkins this week. I love how far along your garden is. Last week it got down to 33 one night, so planting is a bit later here.
Thank you! You have such a way with your videos that make us feel like we are right there, along for the journey. Step by step. Seeing some of the things that are just going crazy and some things that are not doing well and the things that are amazingly great makes me feel better about my garden. We are all in it together. Even if it is only in spirit through KZread. :-) thank you!

Sara Bidley I totally agree. I love that she calls us all her friends. She’s really started this wonderful community . I’m just so grateful to her .
My first tomato changed colors yesterday too! So exciting!
Yup picking beans and peas is meditative time of me time. 🦋💫🐝💞😇
The garden looks great guys. There are so many things that come with growing your own food that I consider therapeutic. Much of what got me hooked early on. Even as I bake myself in my greenhouses, I get a real feeling of worth and accomplishment. Great video sister! Chuck
Love your suggestion for "surprise" zinnias! I do that with cosmos - they add whimsey to the veggie beds :)
watch how the volunteers you leave grow, I find they can be stronger and healthier than the ones I sew in the perfect place, volunteers will eventually find their perfect place. and a plus for me is, if something happens and I cant get to the garden for a while, theres always something growing :) bless x
Your garden is looking beautiful as always. I'm having a problem with pollinators also. Last year there were bees everywhere this year I haven't seen any. Having a hard time with potato bugs also. Thank you for sharing your garden with us.
Your garden looks absolutely beautiful! I always have to keep in mind that we are like a month behind here in Belgium. We are struggling too, but it is our first year growing so much in raised beds in the garden (we moved to our home last year and before we lived in an appartement and grew stuff in pots on the patio). You are a great inspiration! Thanks for all the info you are giving! Really curious to see the new animals though!!
Good Morning Jess 🌞
Thank s for the squeezing tip. We grew Brad's Atomic Grapes last year and I had a hard time telling when they were ripe.
I needed this! I was worried about my cucamelons! They are so tiny still, I thought I was doing something wrong. I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing now😁thanks Jess!
You have such an amazing space! 🤗
Your garden is gorgeous Jess. And I agree 100% about the hard year for gardening. Tennessee is Tooo hot, too rainy, too many bugs and not enough pollinators.. my tomato’s are struggling with curled leaves, funky blooms, and deformed maters...😒 hard not to get a tad discouraged. Can’t live without home grown tomatoes. 🌞🥰
The garden is amazing as always. I love the ant hill wars Haha! I may start a few in my yard today. Great job , looking forward to the changes coming soon. Very exciting stuff. :)
Picking green beans has been a therapy for me for a while too. Like an Easter egg hunt when the prize egg has not been found yet.
