One of the bouts ever, Young Oscar is a freaking beast. Macho Man Camacho is one of the best ever, one of the top 5 best entrances ever very full of energy extremely charismatic rest in boxing heaven!

Yea respect to Hector he didnt quit and did what he had to against a younger stronger bigger Oscar. He might of got the best of him in his prime but I doubt it
Hector was such a legend and he fought ANYONE. You never heard him crying about size. Had some very entertaining walk outs too...MACHO TIME, what time is it?

Nice work by De La Hoya, but Camacho had obviously slowed in performance from his prime, and Oscar was at his best. I would love to have seen them go at it with both in their prime.

Camacho was already downhill by this point
Camacho was already way past his prime. The late 80s were his best years. He lasted 12 rds with a strong DLH. That's got to tell you something about the Macho Man status as a past champion.

@@juiceleethewarriorpoet prime is not an age thing, it's combination of various factors that all go or a few go such as slower reflexes, speed and footwork, ability to take a punch, snap on your punches aren't the same. There are fighters that are past their prime before they even hit 28. Only true, Real boxing fans know this.

Am I the only one who saw Camacho’s coach rip the tape on the right gloves and then when the round started the ref saw the the tape is ripped, earning Camacho few seconds to rest.

Thats a strategy indeed when your fighter is tired. But it only buys a short respite so not a very successful strategy IMO

Camacho didn't come to win - just to survive. Same as when faced Trinidad and Chavez. His only concern was to avoid getting stopped or KO'd.

@@tlig He did come to win he didn't have the punching power to keep naturally heaver fighters off him this guy started out as a featherweight and he wasn't the hardest hitter at that weight.despite what there saying in the commentary he was still the faster fighter but not fast enough to make up for the reach and power those guys had.

@@jimhabsfan Exactly yeah right? Beyond sad isn't it? Talk about something being ironic. Sometimes we are given clues in our lives right before our eyes and never pay attention until something bad happens eventually then it's too late like in the case of Hector. Just so sad and heartbreaking really it is. He had so much to offer the world besides his boxing skills as he was aging into retirement he could've given so much more than he did when he was a champion in his prime. I just think what he could've done (even more so) for the poor kids in Spanish Harlem and even for Spanish Harlem itself much less through out the world with the money he earned over the years in his excellent career as a boxer. Demons in your life will get you sooner or later if you allow it. Really miss THE MACHO MAN! :'( He'll always be #1 in my book.

Why? It was one-sided all the way through and Camacho didn't win a single round. He didn't deserve a share of a round either! As soon as Oscar hurt him, Camacho was in full-on survival mode and just wanted to last the distance.

emmanual stewart is crazy. if oscar has been leading every single round then let him be moderately aggressive is enough. no need to push him to the limit. it only risk oscar tiring or making a mistake. not worth it. i think the best mid to late match strategy should be oscar being moderately aggressive.

Isaiah J. Medina ... Oh wow! That's cool! How well did you know him though? I have cuz's that I knew and saw from time to time but we weren't close. He was one of a kind, very charismatic, had a way with people and so handsome to say the least. He was truly special but one thing for sure a GREAT ATHLETE/BOXER and a TRUE LEGEND! Just wish he could've left the drugs alone and fought the demons within cause he'd still be with us today. Rest in Peace Macho Man!

A lot easier said than done, but Hector seemed to be doing best when he'd move in & punch. I can't comprehend why, if he was gonna just paw with his jab, he didn't pack some snot into it, since it was likely that he'd be countered anyway.

There is another version of this fight that has Dave Bontempo and Sean "The Champ" O'Grady doing commentary, and they do so as if they are live at the fight. Actually, at one point, in between rounds, they mention a bunch of ice being spilled by a cornerman and it lands on them. So which is live?

@@JG8083 serious. That clown Gaymacho was holding so much I thought he was from San Francisco. Felix Trinidad is the only real fighter from Puerto Rico. It’s not hard to have 60+ fights under your belt if you punch and hold the whole fight. Pathetic!
