Swedish American you’re dumb. DLH was dehydrated and it was seen in training camp. Him fighting at 130 most his career is not the same with he could obviously not make that weight anymore. That’s why nobody cares about this fight.

@@Kevin-zj9rn Floyd was also naturally bigger that Manny, not only his boxing skills but how he imposed his size on Manny made the difference but Pacquiao at least made it competitive despite fighting well above his weight class. The better question people should be asking is what would happen if we were to blow up Pacquiao to Mayweather size or shrink Mayweather down to the size of Pacquiao.

I love how manny seemingly doesn't listen to roach then does exactly what he's told. Both are legendary.

Well, Buboy, his Filipino coach, pretty much echoes Roach's advice but translates it so that Manny understands better. Manny probably listens more to him because his English has never been great, particularly in the heat of a fight - it's Roach's advice but in a language he understand better.

Delahoya was past his prime. To drop to his knees before the body shot was thrown is something Oscar never did. There both Champs. Oscar got robbed vs Trinidad. he was schooling him. Oscar's weakness was if he could take hits in a brawl.

As a kid, I only went with the flow of how my family throws watch parties for Pacquiao fights. Rewatching all those fight back then, now as a boxing enthusiast, I can truly see just how special The PAC man is. Amazing display of talent, hard work and grit. From both

De la Hoya was weight drained. Thurman was coming back from injury and that's why Manny picked him. If he wants a true test he can fight Crawford or even Porter. Let's not talk about Spence cuz that would be too much. Edit: Yes Manny is fighting Spence now and while I'm rooting for him, I still favour EJ to win Edit2: lol Spence making me look bad 😅

he was weight drained, the guy was done and too old. Not everybody can fight like Pac or Foreman in there 40s and late 30s

Manny was so active, quick and unorthodox. Those qualities made him one of the most dangerous fighters in history!

Watching Pacquiao's fight live back then you never really appreciate his greatness, but when you go back and rewatched his fights now it gives us chills with how great a fighter he is!

This was around the time de la Hoya started being an alcoholic and did drugs. Probably because he was burned out from his last fight against may weather(which he should have won) You could tell he didn’t give not even half of what he had in this fight, he simply didn’t have it in him. He was a great fighter but ironically his greatest opponent was himself.

I would say after this fight: superstar. After Hatton fight: legend. After Cotto fight: all time great. In every broadcast of the Pacquiao vs Cotto fight, the announcers we're saying Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of all time when that fight finished. He challenged himself coming from a smaller weight class and totally destroyed other hall-of-fame caliber fighters. I'd put Pacquiao as the 2nd or 3rd greatest pound for pound fighter EVER, and you could even make a case for number 1. A former Flyweight winning linear titles in 8 divisions is absolutely insane- especially since he skipped a couple.

man... what i would give to be a fan in attendance for this fight.. the amount of energy in the arena is nothing like what we see in todays fights... Canelo's fight might be the closest to what we see here but even then Pacman's fight with Morales, Cotto, Hatton, and Margarito are on another level

You can compare Pacquiao's resume to any of the greats and it will always be impressive.

Couldn't help but wonder what a prime Chavez vs. a prime Pacquiao at 140 would look like. That chemistry would be amazing.

I loved both of their careers I couldn't pick a side.

This prime pacquiao was more elusive, head bobbing and moves a lot. Way too energetic and explosive. I still think he still got this. He's time is now cut due to being senator and other matters in his hand. He used to train all day everyday and spar for 36 rounds. Got all the time in the world full time focus in boxing. I guess it changes due to time constrain from the choices in his life.

Huge respect to de la hoya. Ive watched couple of fights of dela hoya before i've rewatched this. De la hoya is a legend ive never thought it would come out as a one sided match. Nice fight!

I remember when this went down, knowing that Oscar was in over his head. He was 35 and hadn't had a brawl in a while.

It probably seemed like right decision at the time for him which is understandable but Mayweather should have fought more tough opponents if he wanted a lasting legacy instead of just quick money

There's some truth to that cause even with Mayweather's superior boxing skills and ring IQ, Pacquiao could still supplement his gameplay with athleticism and power which is very dangerous. He could beat him for a few rounds by points but one punch from this Manny could flip the situation very easily.
