Full Engine Machining on a B series MGB GT. Car Running footage also.

Спорт

Hello.
In this video I machine a B series engine for my customer Lee. We also covert his cylinder head to lead free and build the bottom end ready for Lee to set the cam timing and build.
Lee has also sent photos of it finished and a small video of it running.
Thanks for watching.

In the US, what you've done to the MG engine is sometimes referred to as "Blueprinting". A friend of mind had it done to the Bugeye Sprite that he raced. I never realized all that it entailed until your excellent video. Thank you.

Great educational video James. I had just started assembling my 1971 mgb engine in Oct. 2022 when I found your channel. I did not have the crank balanced but I did buy a scale and matched the weight of the piston/rod assemblies with no grinding needed. Two were identical in weight, one was a gram lower and one was a gram higher. Engine runs smooth as an electric motor. I really enjoy your videos. North Carolina USA😊

I guess your MGB series engines are both 5-main bearing varieties? If they're both similar state of repair, how about treating both similarly re: balancing & cam profile / timing, but put a recent crossflow head on one as a comparator. THAT would be a definitive crossflow answer to a perennial b-series question. Keep up the great content.
