When he is healthy / focused, Mendy is unbeatable as a defensive left-back, the issue is that his offensive skills at the same level. Because he is being around forever, it's easy to gforget he is only 28. Davies or not, I'd renew his contract

The problem with Mendy is not that he is not Real Madrid quality. It’s his role. He is a defensive left back which is not what we used to see after Marcelo era. He is super solid in what he does and if we need offensive LB contribution, Carlo often goes to Fran Garcia post 70 minutes. So, it’s ridiculous to think Mendy does not have the RM quality. We needed to solidify the defense during the Militao, Alaba injury period.

Plus, you say we'll prepare for UCL exits with him, like Cancelo has expertly defended that side and prevented this or in the Clasico? At 29 no coach has taught him to defend, it's never happening. At least with Dest there's a CHANCE (however slim) with Balde, Font, Dest, Kounde (and the Araujo at Las palmas) we don't need to spend money we don't have on Cancelo

It was not a simple choice like "I prefer Camavinga over Mendy". Mendy and Carvajal were rested due to the 120min match against City. It was not just a technical choice

Well when Madrid voted NO for Tebas during the election and said NO to his salary increase and shenanigans Barca came and voted for him and gave him that power together with other dumb clubs. I almost always agree with both of you, but I think that, unlike Gab suggested, keeping this system and playing Valverde and Camavinga as 8s tracking back when needed can give Carvajal and possibly Davies a lot of freedom to attack, so changing to a flat 442 wouldn't really make that much sense (unless you sack one of Bellingham/Kroos/Tchouameni as a 6)

Lewandowski has a contract until June 2026, although there is a clause that requires him to play at least 55% of games in his third season for his last year of contract to be valid. Given Barsa's lack of goals, it's hard to see him not playing regularly next season.

Guys, Carlo said Mendy asked to be rested. Carlo made it clear that everyone is available to play except Mendy. How do Gabby and Juls miss the prematch interview or they think Carlo was lying!

Let's hope they implement goal line technology next year. But we cannot change the rule during or after the game. Everyone knew there will be no goal line for El Clasico or for all the other 400 games of LaLiga.

If that was a penalty in favor of Madrid then the tackle on Yamal should also have been a PK. There should be consistency. If Vasquez initiates contact and Yamal does as well and Rudiger trips him, then it should also be called. Just sayin’. Tell me substantively what the difference is between the two tackles?

Goal line tech is a waste of money. VAR should be to prevent bad red or yellow cards post match or to correct serious referee errors live. But it’s literally ruins 90% of the matches.

As a Barca fan, the ref made all the right decisions besides the penalty. It was a clear dive where Vasquez stretched his right leg, while cubrasis is almost on the ground. Same thing happened with Arsenal and Bayern when saka clearly played for the penalty. How the the ref did not check that decision on the VAR is insane

For once in my life I'm gonna have to disagree with both Gab and Juls at the same time. Madrid's situation is complicated because the squad depth will be so good next season in the attack and midfield. In a perfect world, you want the Vini-Mbappe- Rodrygo combo across the top with Bellingham and Valverde helping in the build up and finish. Rodrygo needs to learn how to be an effective RW and ik its alot to ask especially when its easier to just place him under Vini but its better for the team in terms of balance. Cant have a left side heavy formation, by mid season its predictable even with the quality. In terms of subs, Carlo NEEDS to learn how to make subs at the 60 min mark. Brahim and very possibly Guler could bring a lot of really good energy and skill to that right side when you want some creativity which you said Valverde lacks...... That preseason is going to be incredibly crucial to a possible treble run in 24/25.

The kid can play CF and right wing. There's no need to wait for him to bulk up like Real did with Valverde, Camavinga and now Guler, since he's already a muscular unit. This season, our attackers helped defensively like crazy. This might start to take a toll on them next year, so it's essential to have Endrick come on at around 60/70 minutes, or maybe start some games.
