Fujifilm X-Pro 3. Is this the Fuji camera you need? My Complete Review

Ғылым және технология

Another fantastic Fuji camera, but is it the one for you? Warning - it's a long video! This is is how I felt about the X-Pro3 with lots of my photos, videos and time lapses. Also, I discuss how you might make a decision between this and other X Series cameras.

I am happy that they made a photography centered camera where video takes a back seat and there is no IBIS. As an old photographer who has been shooting for 50 years +, I have never had IBIS and still at my advanced age don't need it. Great review.

A few months ago I was looking for an used apc camera where I could adapt my vintage lenses for scanning my negatives. Meanwhile I have an xt2 and I shoot almost only with her. I never thought this would be possible.. Because I tried a few DSLR's in the past but they never felt like my lovely XD7 more like robots without a soul. And what really made me fall in love with fuji are the film simulations and that you can create your own ones. The most of the time I shoot with vintage lenses and almost only with the viewfinder and simply love it. I never shoot videos and so I think this will be my next camera. But for now I really enjoy my xt2, it's just pure fun! Thank you for the review and all the other great videos you have posted!! Keep it going!! 🙌 Cheers from Switzerland

I know this is an older review, but am going back thru your posts with respect to Leica and Fuji reviews, and really enjoying what you have to say. I think I would go down the Fuji road (again) someday, but not at present. I have owned the xpro1, 2, and X-t2 with an array of lenses. I currently shoot a Leica CL. The CL is my favorite travel camera of all time (well, digital - how i loved my contax G2 system for film). I won’t knock Fuji at all. For all brands out there, they have the most passion for listening to photographers, and delivering a dizzying array of lens options, and camera options. I applaud Fuji. But, and it is just my 2 cents, when i hold my CL, everything about it speaks QUALITY at a level not yet achieved by other manufacturers. I’ve owned an M10 system, but these old eyes really enjoy auto focus. The reason for the post? I feel like you give the Fuji cameras an honest thumbs up, and acknowledge how great they are. But when you talk about the Q2, SL2, etc, it is almost like you are walking on clouds. The Joy, Enthusiasm, and general tone is almost other worldly. And I understand 100%. I find myself caught in between LOVING everything Leica, being disappointed by most everything else, and yet no longer in a position to justify the cost of an array of lenses, or an SL2.... So, i keep returning to the thought of supplementing my CL with an Xpro3 with focal lengths unavailable, or unaffordable for my CL. Thats my morning ramble. Thanks so much for your reviews!

Calm, articulate, well-paced and aesthetically pleasing review of a camera I've been considering for a while now. Currently shooting with Sony a7c and Fuji x100v, both just for fun and post-work pleasure, and everything they/you say about the ergonomics of the Fuji and the lightning-fast focus of Sony is true. Not sure what it is about the xPro2/3 that has highjacked my attentions of late, but your pragmatic, clear walk-through helped immensely with my decision-making journey. Thank you.

Thank you! We have used the X-T1s, X-T2s, and now the X-T3s. We use these cameras primarily for weddings. However, we found that, because they are so fun to use, they are good to shoot other events as well. We used them to shoot sports and wildlife, travel, and even portraits. We have been following the X-T4 rumors. As much as we love our X-T3s, we will migrate to the X-T4s if they have everything the X-T3s have plus IBIS. Another nice to have would be dual CF express cards. We have been the beneficiaries of fantastic customer service. Firmware is released as needed and, after one of our new X-T3s fell from an unlevel tripod, Fujifilm sent us a new camera for a nominal repair charge.

I have been using the X100s since it came into production, but wanted a weather sealed, interchangeable camera. I just acquired the Xt-3 with the 18-55 kit lens and the 35 f2 WR. At this point the only thing that would make me happier would be to upgrade my X100s to the F so I could use the same batteries. I really enjoy the entire process with the fuji cameras I now own. Hands down always an enjoyable experience every time I shoot. The t3 gives me everything I could possibly want or need for the photography I am now doing. I think that the more I use the t3 the better the experience will be. I also have an old Leica with a 50mm Summicron f2 that was fun to use with film. I will be looking into getting an adapter so that I can use the Summicron on the Fuji. Pure joy!!! Thank you for your usual wonderful review, you are one of my favorite You Tubers. Happy New Year!!

I started with the Fuji X-T1, which was super. Big EVF and loved the dials. Ideal for landscapes and portraits. Which I like to do most. Last year bought an X-E3 wanted something smaller to bring on city trips and it became my main camera due to the improved autofocus and newer sensor. Unfortunately I miss WR, so now looking into the X-Pro3 OR X-Pro2. Probably will go with the latter do I can buy some more WR lenses too. Probably sell the X-E3 then.

Thank you for this review. I am contemplating an XPro-3 to add to my collection. I currently use a Fuji XT-2, which I consider to be my workhorse and don't really see giving up in the near future. I also have an XT-20 which I acquired to have as a walkabout camera, but I don't seem to use it as much. The XPro-3's purpose would be as a walkabout/travel grab and go. I have a borrowed X100F which I was considering, but we don't seem to be getting along, so I'm re-examining the possibilities of the XPro-3 because of the interchangeable lenses. I appreciate the weather information that you shared as we have similar conditions, although usually more rain and less cold, but inclement nonetheless. I absolutely laughed out loud at Raymond's antics of putting the autofocus and eye/face detection through its paces! And last but not least the reminder that I own some very good Nikon glass that only requires an adapter! Cheers from the Wet Coast.

My X-Pro 2 is my weather-sealed, dual card, interchangeable lens camera also for travel, event and street. Lastly, my X-T2 and now X-T3 serve my interests in landscape, event, and studio. Just different tools for different applications. And all my Fujis having made photography fun again!

I dont have the x-pro3 yet but am going to buy it this monday. Reasons to buy it: evf/ovf combo (xpro2 also has it but evf is quite inferior), low tilting screen which prevents flare, useful mini display to check settings at a glance (faster then seeiing it on a regular screen), the screen flips down more fluently then on x-t2, x-t3 etc which makes it easier to catch the moment, quick af, it invites to use evf/ovf, design and build quality

I have been a Canon user forever currently using the Canon EOS 5D MK II and Canon EOS 5D MK III but want a smaller camera that I can dedicate to street photography and have read all the reviews ( I think!) on the XPRO 3 I can and found your reviews very useful. I have not made a final decision yet but based on your review I think the XPRO 3 is a possible contender. Thanks, this review was excellent! 👍

Being a Fujifilm user since 2014 with the X100T and having owned most of the X series cameras at some point it’s interesting hearing your point of view. I currently own a XT3 & XH1 with a variety of zooms & primes which i use for events. Both with the battery grips on. I also have (again, I’ve bought and sold a lot) a XE3 with the XF23f2 and a Leica 90f2.8 elmarit for street & portraits. The XPRO3, although very interesting is for street, too single use for my needs and the XE3 smaller and even more discreet with the option of changing lenses (X100F). If I was going to buy another XPRO body it would probably be the original #1 (again!).

I'm currently getting to know my X-Pro 3 and use it alongside the XT-3. I love the physical design of the X-Pro 3, as it seems to fit naturally in my hand, as though it and my hand were made for each other ;). I don't miss having an LCD staring me in the face at all, and, as you mentioned, it is nice to be able to the X-Pro 3 in the camera bag without worrying about the screen (The same goes with carrying it and not having to worry about it contacting zippers or other gear I may be carrying.). I am relatively new to Fuji, although I have been following all the videos on them for years. I started with the GFX series a year ago, and added the X-series bodies and lenses when I needed to temporarily go lighter while healing from an accident. I think the hybrid viewfinder is incredibly clever and am still experimenting with switching between the OLV and EVF (and with using the pop-up mini EVF for focus checking). I have used Leica M cameras for many years and can see why so many other Leica owners have picked up Fuji cameras. The latter are not rangefinders, of course, but there are similarities in the experience of using both brands. In fact, the X-Pro 3 reminds me of using the Leica M film cameras. I really enjoyed this review, which is unique among the various other in-depth reviews of this interesting and ingeniously designed camera. In answer to your question about other cameras owned and used, I started with simple Kodak Brownie cameras almost 60 years ago, used various hand me downs while growing up, and then used first Pentax and then Nikon SLRs and Nikon DSLRs (after resisting for a long time) along with Leica M, Q, and SL gear. I think Fujifilm's design aesthetic and their history with and commitment to beauty in design as well as their focus on accurate color reproduction make their photographic equipment a fascinating system to explore.

Owned a lot of Fuji bodies.. in house now.. X-E2, X-H1, & X100V. V is fun camera and I love the mark II version of that lens. I take V with me almost everywhere. E-2 handed down to my son with 27mm. Still love that combo and old sensor. X-H1 for my lenses.. 16 2.8 (love the size & don’t need the 1.4), 35 f2 (my favorite Fuji lens), and 55-200 (a great zoom lens). The T is my favorite X100 but different batteries got old. The V is a LOT in a little gorgeous package.

Been a Fuji shooter since the original X100 - I still have it, even though I almost never use it, because I can't bear to part with it. I use an XT2 now, and I like Fuji for three main reasons. First, they mirrorless: I never liked optical viewfinders, so having a good EVF is paramount for me. Second, I can adjust the main settings with the camera switched off, and see what they're set to at a glance, even set them by feel. Sure, on a DSLR you wouldn't *need* to keep switching the camera off, since battery life wouldn't be a problem, but then you'd be stuck with an optical viewfinder and a larger overall camera. Finally, Fuji makes the lenses I want to use. As for the XPro3, while I like the form factor, and don't mind the odd screen, I just find the hybrid viewfinder a bit redundant - I'd prefer it with just an EVF. The XE1 I owned before the XT2 was sort of there, but that camera was quite a step down in build quality.

I loved Fuji from the first time I picked up an xt2 and would have bought it then, it the camera salesman, I later found out was using an incompatible sad card, which was causing the camera to freeze up so I didn’t up it. I later had he opportunity to try the x100f and fell in love with it, but waited for the Xt3, but the xh1 feels better in the hands. I m a DSLR and film shooter, but the Fuji with its dials feels like a film camera letting you set the aperture, shutter and iso like on a film camera with the exception that there is no iso selection on a film camera and you have to pick the film you need in advance. The ease of use going from Nikon to Fuji just felt so right and the aperture on the lens and being able to see the result in real time, like all Mirrorless cameras hooked me. I knew I would buy the Xt3 and I did. It is the camera that you just want to pick up due to its size, I own the battery grip because without it battery life is horrible and just go out and shoot. Will I be getting rid of my d810 or d500, or f4, no but having the Fuji for video (I own a gimbal) and stills makes it a valuable asset. With the film simulation when I decide to use them with across being my favorite is outstanding. What I like about your channel is you and Raymond aren’t. Asking brands and have no problems trying different brands and just letting people know of your experiences. If I were going to buy a rangefinder style right now, it would be the x100f (I can’t justify spending more for the XPro3 than the Xt3) because with a fix lens it would force me to do the same thing with it as a film camera, think first, wait for the moment, move with your feet and take the shot. Keep up the great work.

I have the X-Pro3 with the XF 16-55 f/2.8. I wanted a camera that would help me improve my technique and the hidden screen would force that to some extent. I personally prefer prime lenses but because I was limited to purchasing one lens, the zoom made the most sense. This is my second Fujifilm camera, the first being the X100T. I shoot primarily with the Canon 5D Mark II but wanted to upgrade to something more capable and wasn’t impressed with the latest Canon offerings, hence the desire to try something different.

I shoot various cameras both film and digital, my grab and go camera is the X100f I use this puppy for almost everything, I make some incredible imho, landscapes with this little camera I just love it. Saying that however I'm looking to upgrade the X100v is my first thought, but the X-pro 3 with the ability to change lenses definitely appeals. I don't care about Ibis, I actually use higher Iso when required, or video, as I have the Canon D50 to shoot my channel footage, so the Xpro being a stills focused camera again gets my juices flowing. I haven't had the chance to test out the XPRO3 yet but I like the idea of not having a screen right there. It makes you use the view finder more, I like that! IBIS is great on the XT4 when shooting video, but don't think you need it on the XPro line, we'll at least in my opinion. I would use it more for photography. I also heard friends talk about it being too expensive, but for someone that shot weddings for over 10 years and coming from Canon 5D’s at $3500. You can get a XT4 and an XPro3 for about the same price. Looking forward to checking out this camera. Great review, thanks!

I am actually on my way home (sitting at Arby's enjoying a meal haha) just now from shooting with my X-T2 which I adore immensely. I also have the X-T1 and will quite likely never ever ever EVER sell it! These two bodies produce such fantastic feeling images, and they are a real joy to physically use in the field. I actually just came back to Fujifilm after not using one of their digital/film cameras since before the D200 came out! I shot Nikon almost exclusively for the past 10-15 years or so while also owning Pentax (still have the K5) and Canon (5D mark 1) and a trying other brands (Sony, etc). I shot Olympus m43 exclusively from 2015-2019 and loved it, but I stumbled upon the fact that I didn't even realize that Fuji was making mirrorless bodies at all (I thought they'd only done P&S stuff after the S5 Pro)....and I saw the form factor and immediately bought an X-T1 to try it out and hopefully come 'home' again to Fujifilm after so many many years. I can't tell you how much joy I I've had shooting in the past 2 months now. I wish I hadn't overlooked them all these years, what an oversight! I really missed dials and prior aperture rings ESPECIALLY, that is how I like to use camera bodies and that's been gone a long long time now unfortunately. Thankfully I can do it again, and crazy that I'm back full circle to Fujifilm where I started long ago. The X series is absolutely fantastic, and nearly 100% perfection for me and how I like to shoot.

I am primarily a Sony user, but I do own a Fujifilm X-T3 that I use as a backup as well as personal work. I absolutely LOVE Fujifilm not only for their amazing cameras, but as a company and their philosophy on photography; they really bring out the love of photography in me every time I hold my XT-3. Although I would honestly prefer an X-Pro 3 (I’m also a film shooter), I chose the X-T3 since my client work is exclusively portraits. The only reason I won’t switch over completely to Fujifilm is simply because for me, Sony checks all the boxes. Sony isn’t better, it’s just different and it currently fulfills my photography needs. Great video BTW!!!

I really like it, BUT wish I could use their primes and fixed f-stop zooms. I am not steady enough to really take advantage of these lenses without IS. Been using it mostly for video and casual shots. Have Z6 and several Z mount lenses. These are really sharp and all are stabilized through the IBS. I find I am using the Z more and more.

Totally agree with your comments about lens quality trumping camera quality and compositional ability trumping both. Please let’s have the further video you suggested was for another time. I grew up pre-digital with SLRs that did not have auto focus ( OM1/2 and Nikon FE2/FM) so frankly I can do without it and other branded lenses are fine - I have Voightlander M series too and want something I can use them with while I save for a Leica body …. The Fujifilm grip is also quite nice if you want something a little more sleek/smaller than the J.B. wooden platformed grip. Though the wood does give the camera an nice "old school" look. The beauty of course is that you can adapt the camera with these grips to what you need and like.

I picked up an X-T3 in October after not having a decent camera since the transition from film. A business trip to Lisbon pushed me into the decision where I finally had enough with limitations of smart phone cameras. Initially, I was going to go with a Sony APSC body but after really digging into the details I felt that the X-T3 was right for my mix of street, landscape and astrophotography because of the simulations, dual card slots, ergonomics and weather sealing. IBIS was a have to have at first but then, with video as a nice capability but not THE reason for the purchase I simply decided I didn’t need it. In truth, I have yet to record a second of video since I got the camera so I’m not missing anything. In the future, I’m sure to shoot video but it’s not a priority now. I have no regrets and am actually finding the experience better than I expected.

21:40 I own 3 older Fujis (owned 5 technically), the original X100 was the one camera that brought me back into photography, the first digital camera I really loved on first sight and have with me wherever I go. My first camera was a Pentax K1000, since then I was always hoping someone simply would make that one digital, and Fuji comes closest. Second, I wanted interchangable lenses when I got into Portraits and concerts, so I got an X-A1, the only new one I ever bought. Didn't like it, no viewfinder and that stupid PASM dial, so I quickly side-graded to a used X-E1 with the 35 1.4. Loved that combo to bits. It got stolen so I bought it a second time. Finally a more logical choice, a used X-T1 simply because during concerts and festivals my cameras got wet so many times (rain or beer...) that I wanted weather sealing, plus the large viewfinder is an immense help focusing vintage glass. But I love the X-E1 body more. That's it, I still don't need anything newer than that. Someday maybe a newer X-E body, X-E3, 4, 5, whatever.

Liked your review...I use xpro-2 and xh-1 and am now pondering to get either xt3 or xpro3. I have a lot of lens and came to conclusion that mostly I use "fujicrons" because of their size. I get to take them everywhere. I need to mention "the kit lens" which keeps blowing me away every time I use it paired with x-pro2. I got rid of all heavy canon cameras (1ds, 5ds) and glass 2 years ago. Never ever looked back. Its not that that canons were bad (on contrary, they were execellent cameras and lenses), I just never took those along because of the weight and stayed home more than creating an imagea which should be their primary purpose. Keep up the good work. Greetings from Croatia

I have Pentax, Leica, etc and I don’t abuse them but they get used. I find myself using the Leica (x2 and TL2) more than the Pentax (k1ll) because they’re more manageable. Lighter weight, less bulky, and more maneuverable. I absolutely love my k1ll but I do find it just sitting more than being used. Contemplating the difficult decision to let it go

Sometimes I grab the Fuji because it's fun to use, got great lenses and a nice feel but the iq is still a bit below the A7III. Then I grab the A7III, I'm amazed by the AF and image quality, but then I miss the Fuji dials, the smallness, and the "fun" about photographing with Fuji. Give me a XT3 with the same form factor, lens size and A7III AF, ibis and iq... That would be something :)

I have many cameras. But, I have 2 systems that I work with. All the other cameras are just to play with. Around 1985 I bought my first Nikon. A Nikon FG. Over time I bought and sold many Nikons. My Nikon system is now a D810, F4 and F3/T. I have about a dozen Nikon AF lenses and about a dozen Nikon MF lenses. About 4 years ago I became intrigued by the Fujifilm X cameras. I started with a used X100S and soon added a used X-Pro1. Over time I bought an sold many used X cameras to see what I like. I finally settled on a set of 3 Fujifilm X cameras, which I bought new. The X-Pro3, The X-T3 and the X100F. Along with these bodies, I have accumulated 11 Fuji X lenses, most of which are primes. I still use my Nikon cameras when I need a real work horse or want to shoot film. But I use the Fujifilm cameras when I want to have some fun. I don’t do video, so that’s not a consideration for me. By far my favorite is the X-Pro3 with a nice compact prime lens. I’ve been shooting photos since 1968. The X-Pro3 brings back the fun I used to have shooting film.

When first introduced, The XPro 1 made me love to shoot again. The JPEGs are wonderful out of camera... I am also slowly adopting the Ken Rockwell jpeg approach, where I have RAW mostly as a backup if needed. I have slowly made Fuji my main camera/lens of choice. I only wish they had more Pro support like Nikon has. I always shot Nikon, starting with the F2as, F3P, and finally made the switch to digital with the D3 then the D700. I now own the XT2, XPro2 and going to buy the XPro3. Besides the JPEGs, I love the mostly metal construction compared to the plastic feel of many Nikon bodies/lenses these days. Having to shoot film daily with manual focus and no stabilization for many years, the lack of this in body feature does not bother me. I would have paired the XPro3 with the 23 F2 instead of the 35 F2 for this review...

Thats another story I have a fujifilm x100s and now x100f that I totally love .. I had an xt2 and loved using it for travel but if honest the auto focus was way too slow for moving birds compared to my d5 at the time and now d500 and I get it thats possibly not a fair test.. but having both it was what I compared it with.. The xt2 to me prob was better at auto focus than me but it was complex . Lots of options and the d5 was bang!!! Continues focus mode and 3d track one selection and your nailing 90% the shots Nd the d500 to me is the same you can trust it.. I am going to buy a fujifilm X-Pro3 love the style and your right. Fuji only guy. I have a T2 w/Fuji's L grip. With that I feel comfortable using the four fast Fuji primes which are a little chunky. And when using them I prefer the DSLR form. I bought the H1 for the IBIS but there's so much more like the quietest curtain shutter anywhere. It's almost as quiet as a leaf shutter. That and almost no vibration. At the price it is now it's the best deal one can find. I had a Pro 2 and liked it, but sold it for an X100F. Really beautiful camera but I found having one fixed lens too limiting. I had the 3 f2 "Fujicrons." already so decided to sell the X100F and get the Pro-3 mostly for how it makes me shoot. (I go back to film days.). When Leica came out with the M-10D with no LCD, exposure comp dial where the ASA selector used to be and even a foo film advance lever I really wanted one but the $13,000 with one 35mm Summi lens was not going to happen. God heard my cry. When I saw the Pro-3 that was it. For X-Pro 2 users there are a couple of what I'd call, "step backs." For one, the OVF no long has the switchable magnification so anything longer than 50mm is getting almost unusable. I miss that. They removed the L and H selection from the ISO dial and replaced it with a C option. I used the L all the time as a 1-stop electronic ND filter and now I can't figure out how to set the C to 80 ISO. One can only use one C setting and there's also one on the exposure comp dial. What were they thinking! The EVF is greatly improved over the Pro2, but if you like using lenses wider than 23mm I would recommend the H1, T3 or even a T2. Since the human eye (at least mine) can't really detect the difference between a refresh rate of 80fps and 100fps I don't see (pun intended) this being something to consider. The EVF on the H1 is the best Fuji has. It's big, sharp, bright, great color rendition out of the box, contrasty and great with my 16mm f1.4. It's better than the T3 EVF. But again, the EVF on the Pro3 is a big improvement over prior editions - which wasn't all that hard to do. Since I almost never hit cameras with hammers or scrape key across them I'd rather Fuji had kept a few other things the Pro-2 had. The camera seems to warm up a bit and I don't do video. I'm wondering how a Titanium top and bottom plate will work with 4K since it does not disperse heat as well as magnesium or even brass. Titanium sounds like something the sale people came up with instead of the engineers. Other companies have used Titanium and dropped it. Since I don't like post processing Fuji's JPEG film simulations are great and complete the nostalgia. In fact, if someone else were paying for a camera and I could not sell it, I would in fact choose the X-Pro3 over the M-10D. And with the Titanium covers and Dura Coat finish not only one use it to smash walnuts but also sharpen knives. Try that with a Leica.

Peter Lemke Thnx. Another issue l’m trying ti get Fuji to own up to to they can fix in a firmware update is when using a new setting l didn’t knew l needed, CLARITY, the screen refresh rate drops by a lot. I think it is competing for processor time with the screen refresh. Feels like refresh rates drops maybe by half. Try it. Workaround? Don’t use CLARITY even if you can figure out what exactly it does.

Peter Lemke One more issue: The frame lines and focus box in the OVF don’t return to center when the shutter button is released like on all X100’s and two prior X-Pro’s. Pain in the butt since the frame lines stay in the parallax adjusted position even after the camera’s been turned off. So far Fuji is holding the line that this is a new “feature.” Yeah, right. If no one complains (other than me) they’re not likely to fix it.

My review of the RX100 VII is here... kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4qDrLFridfRfqw.html With the Z50, you're gaining a larger sensor and with the ability to adapt your F mount lenses with the FTZ adapter. With the RX100 cameras, you have a lot of focal length range in a tiny package and the famous Sony focusing system. Here's my suggestion... Take your D7200 and lenses into a shop, ask to see the two/three cameras you are thinking about purchasing, use them to make sure you like them, but then see which actually feels like a more compact solution to you.

Simple reason for choosing Fujifilm: the traditional control layout. I've done the dials and DSLR thing, but never really enjoyed the experience. I saw an X-PRO1 when it first came out and I knew the brand I'd be using from that point on. I still have other brands for specific video roles, but the Fujifilm cameras are the ones I pick up when I just want to enjoy photography. I currently use three X-T2s in my fly tying video studio. They're all mounted and use old film glass macro lenses. Here's a video on my studio: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f3aC2s6Onqu4gMY.html The X-T20 and X-E3 in the video have since been replaced with X-T2s. My still photography is done primarily with an X100V or an X-T3. I still occasionally use the X-E3 as well. I also have an X-E4 on a tripod for my "in office" fishing videos as the selfie screen on it allows for easy framing. In this case, I'm using HDMI out to USB to record directly to my computer. I'm dithering about getting an X-PRO3 which is why I found your video. I love the camera, but with an X100V and six other Fujifilm cameras, how much will I use it when I already have an X100V? Why buy an X-PRO3? It's really a throwback to the 35mm film days where we crafted everything in our viewfinders. It appeals to old geezers like me who grew up with having to process our film before we saw the results. For people who have never shot film, I think the form factor of the X-PRO3 makes us focus more on the act of taking a photo and less on the technology behind it. Some people might find the X-PRO3 to be a kind of liberation from the overburden of technology.

I also think the XPro3 is not that bad for Landscape. I mean, its not optimal due to the LCD setup and a SLR-styled body would probably function better for this purpose, but unless you are a dedicated landscape photographer the XPro3 will not be on a tripod all the time anyways so I think is not that big of a deal.

Thank you for an extremely user-focused and tech-light review. And also because your ethos seem to parallell mine so closely; photography should be fun, not a chore. I first started with my father's Diax 1a (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diax) and Agfa Isolette in the late 60's, and he and my mother tought me how to develope film and make prints in the darkroom. We had a darkroom in our house when I was a kid. Woot! When I was 14 I bought a Canon AE-1 that I used for some years until in 1981 I switched to Pentax, and invested in the just-released Pentax LX. I used the heck out of that camera for many years. Actually almost 40 years, as I am still using it, albeit less and less. In the mean time I have been through Pentaxes: MX, ME super, MZ-S, 645n, 6x7, Hasselblad 500 EL/M, 501, Szabad 5x7 (Swedish large format), Canon F1 old, Rolleicord III ... well that's the film stuff. Digitally I got thrust into the pixel-domain with the Pentax d20. I bought it from the money I made from selling a Nikon d90 that I won in a photo competition. Staying with Pentax made perfect sense since I had (have) quite a collection of Pentax glass. I never got really comfortable with that camera. The transtiton from film to digital didn't work for me. Two years ago I bought the Fuji X-pro2 and everything changed. Suddenly I didn't had a fistfull of electronics anymore. I had a "proper" camera. With a "proper" user interface. And suddenly there wasn't anything between me and the image anymore. And the joy of photography returned. And to paraphrase another youtuber: It proved to be the shortest possible distance between intent and execution. I am very happy with my X-Pro2, will I invest in the x-Pro3? Not now, maybe later. But anyway, that is my story, and thank you agani for that review.

I always have the X70 in my pocket 18mm (I am sad they discontinued it). I use the XT30 for video only on a tripod (never moves). I had bought it as a gift for someone, but they do not use it and gave it back. I will most likely sell the XT3 as I don't use it. If I did it all again? X70 and X Pro 3 with 23mm, 35mm, 50mm. The best camera? That's easy...the one you use. I travel and I want to go light and tight. If I had only 2 focal lengths it would be 18mm and 50mm. The one big downside for me on the x100v is the fix 23mm. I would much prefer the 18mm. Now I know there is the WCL for it taking it to 19mm, but that seems to defeat the point if a fix lens. So. X70 in my pocket Xpro3 with 3 primes 25 35 50 Note...the 16mm 1.4 is the best lens I have ever shot with...but it is big and that means if I can't fit it in my coat pocket...it doesn't get much use. I am not a pro...but have been shooting since the 80s and was a gear collector...getting older...I learned my lesson...the camera you use is the best camera...and to use a camera...you have to carry it... So ...small...light...easy...fast... Until I get the xpro3 ...it will be the XE3 with 23 and 50. Thanks for the video... Helping make up my mind in the xpro3 and sell tge xe3 and xt3.

The only downside is the battery life when compared to the xt4 I don’t use a screen, I rarely ever do. My Leica m3 doesn’t have a screen or a light meter and I use it all the time with great results. I don’t even shoot raw for documentary work. I just use JPEG and go. My advice to others; Learn to compose a picture, it’s more important than screens.

I’m interested in what the camera can produce, not what Paintshop can do. Besides, all of the manufacturers put considerable money into developing an image processor engine, it’s a shame to waste their work. Thanks for your honest reviews.

I'm a hobbist and just use a X100F, previously I had a Canon T6. I'm learning photorography so it's really cool to have all the physical dials and the hybrid viewfinder is helping me to find "my way" of using a camera.

I don't understand your Fahrenheit-story. I always use Celsius. My own experiences with low temperatures are bad. Still use my dslr in low temperature conditions.

First i decided mirrorless. Than i decided APS-C because of size and weight. Than i decided Fuji because the best selection of APS-C specific lenses. I don't give a howl in hell about user interface. I love my Fuji cameras and lenses. The prime really gets the maximum out of the sensor.

A lot of reviewers rag on Fuji because of that screen, but I think it's kind of unique for the reasons you listed. I don't think I'll ever own a Fuji, but it's not because I don't think thy're good cameras.

I was surprised to find that that I didn't mind the screen. There are certain types of work I do where I wouldn't enjoy it, but mostly it was nice to have the big LCD tucked away!

I have shot with the XT3 for the last year, and it made me so comfortable with shooting in manual mode. It just so easy to make adjustments with the dials. But Santa brought me a Canon EOS R. I have played with it since Christmas Day and I have to say if I had to pick a camera on the way out the door, at this point it would be the XT3.

That's a really good point. Those tangible, labeled controls probably make Manual easier, or at least more approachable, for a lot of people!

I see Raymond is working with a Nikon, mirrorless. @ 8:39 secs. Also, that 1000 or so photos, were they in Jpeg format?

I typically shot both raw and JPEG because I had to send the camera back and I wouldn't be able to use X Raw Studio to apply film simulations to raw files. :)

@@LeighAndRaymond So set up to shoot every minute I believe you said you were able to get that many files into a card or even a back up card I'm assuming, in that cold air on one battery. That's pretty darn amazing. I'm seriously looking at the Fuji X2pro. Like the 3, but that flip thing is killing it for me. Any videos of you discussing the X 2 pro ?

cozywithsarkozy If you are deciding between the x-t series and x-pro, YOU HAVE MISSED THE POINT!!! They are designed for completely diferent markets. The x-pro series are a cheaper alternative to leica cameras, and if you knew how much the leica cameras are, you would NEVER call the xpro cameras PRICEY!!! Lol
