Lovely camera. I also recommend getting the Meike 35mm f1.7 lens. At around $70, it’s a nice addition for great bokeh; you have to select the “Use without lens” setting and focus manually (but with focus peaking it is quite simple).

I have an XE2 and have been wondering about upgrading to an XE4.I enjoy using my XE2, I love the ergonomics, function buttons, dpad, focus selector switch all of which seem superior to those on the XE4 jufging by many reviews I have seen, but I rather like the idea of the bigger 26mp sensor and faster processor of the XE4. In your opinion are the advantages of the XE4 a good enough trade off against the ergonomics of the XE2 to go ahead and buy an XE4?

Started Photography with the X-E1. Love the puristic approach Fuji takes. Served me well and still does. Last year I upgraded to an A7 III which is a fantastic camera that I enjoy a lot and don’t want to miss. However my Fuji has a unique feel to it. It gives Photography a different pace and feel. Overall I love both. The Fuji has taught me how photography works. ISO, Shutter, Aperture. The perfect beginner camera which won’t disappoint even professionals. For me it is not the workhorse, but gives me a very enjoyable experience which is a good thing whenever the job doesn’t require perfection. If it does the higher gear Fuji cameras or (as for me) the A7 lineup will provide that, too. To sum up: Great camera which has improved weaknesses of the older versions. I would pick it up if I was to start all over again. Great camera! The A7 III still overall is my go-to camera, but these two play in totally different leagues. The Sony should be compared to the X-T3/4 which are great, too. X-E4 or Sony A6400 would be my choice In this price range. Paired with the right glass and a capable user all these cameras will take fantastic pictures. Even my good old X-E1. As always: The best camera is the one you are using. Great review as always. Keep it up!

My experiences are quite dated already, but maybe i can relate to this small EVF. First i got the m4/3 Panasonic GM1 and later the GM5 (direct successor). Many reviewers mentioned that the small EVF was better then nothing, and maybe, sure, i can see the point. It's also one of those easy safe things to say for general masses. In practice, i found that the EVF was nice to have, but experience left feeling lackluster. The view was just so small, couldn't be any smaller. And eventually, it started to become pointless because the main LCD screen was that much better anyways. So, i sold the camera because the EVF just didn't feel fulfilling in practice, and they also changed the screen ratio to smaller size because of the EVF so there it goes. The small EVF was good on direct sunlight (but even then, you had to cover the sides with your hand / fingers or with a hat.). The EVF could give better stability, but when you don't want to look through the EVF all that much, then... I still use my happy orange GM1 to this date, with the great big LCD and don't miss the EVF one bit. I rather use better EVF on bigger cameras.

You shouldn’t try to be happy with the G9. It’s fine if you aren’t totally into it. It’s a great camera, I had for over a year when it came out, but I never really liked its quality for stills. In my opinion Fuji or APS-C sensors are superior to MFT and the G9 is not a small camera at all, so getting a Fuji for photography is a good option. Make a round camera? It is like with the original iPhone... every smartphone will look the original iPhone to certain extent. You can't invent the wheel twice. In fact, Fuji is the only digital camera manufacturer with original concepts such as X-Pro 3, X100V with hybrid viewfinder or X-T series with dedicated exposure dials. X100S and X-S10 with PASM dial are definitely the "least Fujifilm" cameras in their line-up. Those look like any other mirrorless camera. That is definitely a move away from their signature styling.
