Fuel poverty: Can Tories hang onto seats as energy bills fall?

Energy bills for the average household are set to fall by £122 a year from July under the new price cap set by regulator Ofgem.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
That's the lowest since the invasion of Ukraine two years ago, although household energy debt is at a record high.
The former Labour heartland of Stoke on Trent North -which covers three constituencies - has one of the highest levels of fuel poverty in the country.
We’ve been to find out if the Tories can hang on there, with their promises of falling inflation and lower energy prices.

I'm confused. The people of Stoke voted to be poorer and have fewer rights back in 2019 when they chose the Tories. Now they are poorer and have fewer rights why are they complaining?

They voted to leave the EU & the Tories made a massive hash of it. They voted for a populist conservative in 2019 & instead ended up with a nanny state neo-liberal government... Not our fault the Tories decided to waste the opportunities handed to them and pander to the people calling them racist, while prioritising playing hero on the international stage at the direct expense of the people they claim to represent. Doing the exact same thing Labour would do in their place... Except Labour would have betrayed people like me by forcing a rigged second EU referendum to force this country back in to that corrupt oligarchy.

My family and i believe its been the best decade ever. Especially for our business. My parents own a small consultancy company and we applied for the furlough scheme, It was great we didnt have to spent a single penny paying our employees. The money that we saved as a company helped my sister to buy a small 5 bedrooms villa in turkey. It comes with swimming pool, jacuzzi and all that jazz. We are thankful for the Great Britain Government helping us out. This is why this country is GREATT

To those refusing to vote because they think nothing will change, you are doing exactly what the Tories want. The fewer people that vote, the more likely they are to remain in power. Voting for the Tories in 2019 changed a lot of things in the UK for the worse. So yes, voting does bring about change.

It will likely be a hangover from the winter we just had in which the cold weather dragged right through to April. Some people with very young children keep their houses heated permanently out of fear, even though the kids would be fine in a cold house. And that would cost a fortune at current prices if you let it mount up. We have to be careful we don't let news clips like this have us direct our contempt at the victims of fuel company greed and government compliance.

In a first past the post system, there is a massive chance that your vote will count for nothing. The two major parties rely on this and are now virtually indistinguishable in terms of policy. What we have is a political oligopoly with an illusion of participation. When you add to that the fact that both parties are cheerleaders for gen*cide, it is entirely legitimate to not vote and to complain. I hate this attitude that people owe starmer their vote, despite his lies, his betrayals, his authoritarianism, his abandonment of all policies which would make a difference to the country. If he wants peoples vote he should offer a real alternative, rather than just saying ‘I’m not Rishi’ as though that’s meant to impress people.

😂😂😂True true she should have voted for the Commiefornia model / Venezuela 2.0 upgrade. Glad I left that state years ago due to the highest fuel, gas, electricity and taxes due to radical energy policies with the added luxury of rolling black and brown outs. Remember CA is wealthier than the whole UK alone. Play stupid games win stupid prizes lol.
