If the government require an army (which they have underfunded through cuts) then they need to create an incentive to fight in it. That means vast improvements across the NHS to social housing and standard of it. Forcing the poorest in society into potential death is not a sustainable option.

That is what happened in ww1 if I remember correctly. The upper classes tended to volunteer and be officers and had a dreadful casualty rate. On one hand, why should the indigenous youth die for a government who has repeatedly made it clear that they are unwanted? On the other hand, the fact that most people aren't willing to fight and potentially die for their families, community, and nation might indicate that national service is desperately needed. It's needed to reverse what government, academia, and media have sowed. They taught everyone that nationalism is bad, white skin is inherently evil, don't be masculine, etc. You reap what you sow!

I am the eldest of 6 boys, the youngest of which died last year from adn epileptic fit, he was 26, our mother fell down the stairs while carrying him and died when he was 6 months old. Our father was an alcoholic, married another woman with 9 girls and one boy, she was too an alcoholic. He with her now hopefully all that's real. Idk. Think about the dates here, I'm sure yi can with you have my age. Fairly simple math. It was not a hundred years ago or anything. I left school in 2003. For me, I have always fought the norms, the traditions, I day dream about living and protesting in the 60s, what a time of change, my father used to say i was "anti establishment" he thoughy i got in from my mother as she was a weed smoking hippy, woderful woman, you dont know me, but a few words and you think you have me by the balls, Wake up, Do you have kids ? Do you have to deal with kids on a daily basis ,? Shhhhhh My daughter , I'm so proud of, she finished school, big deal for our family, she now had a job, only 17, with qualifications likeni could dream of, I'm a builder, But, I cannot get her to give up money for the house. I don't know Where your from, but in Ireland it's customary for working kids ti hand up money, To contribute, It's life lesson, I was proud to give my dad 100 euro every week , I mean he drank it, but I did my bit. I see the entitlement to what we were happy to have, What you the youth have , is what older generations gave us, What you said about the youth being forward thinking .. People in Scotland, including myself voted labour for decades and then realised that they did not represent the working classes. That’s why there was a surge in support for the SNP. They are a party that stand for open borders, less police officers, soft on crime, and the highest benefits system in Europe. I could go on. Anybody that trusts that former humans rights lawyer sir Kneealot starmer needs to have a word with themselves. Nothing changed under labour 50 years ago and if you vote labour now it will be the exact same thing again. Once they are in they will finish this country off.

Do people think that the people of Sweden, Finland and South Korea are slaves??? Because they all have different levels of national service and they absolutely would not want to get rid of it for multiple reasons. The UK simply shouldn’t have gotten totally rid of it. If we still had it, much like the NHS verses private hospitals, we wouldn’t want to do away with it. It’s just a scary transition, that is all. I welcome it.

In 1918 my late grandad swore there was only one thing he would ever again fight for - his friends (which he essentially had already done.) As if he ever could, by then having lost an arm and a leg. Things he swore he would never again fight for were gods, kings and butchers aprons. He did in fact do firewatching in the next one - but that was for his friends and neighbours. Despite everything, to his dying day, he despised Tories more than Germans. In fact he had, for years, a couple of German penfriends he'd once escorted as WW1 prisoners. ("Buggers smoked all my baccy!")

Well what they do is they create a discussion first so that the idea is firmly in the public consciousness. Then they create reasons to support the idea. Then the idea becomes a reality. In this case, the tories know they're out for a while, so they're taking the hit on this one to get the idea out there and test the water. But it's coming though.
