FTX Outback Fury 2.0 1/10th Crawler - Unboxing and first thoughts

I have been thinking of a new FTX crawler for a while, I had looked at the Fury Pro 1.0 but needed all the electrics. I noticed this the other day and its has not been out long. But for once it ticked all the right boxes, Not a bad servo or ESC, anti torque twist transmission, metal gears and other good features. I had looked at the Outback 3.0 and just did not like it, the Bronco style I have and the Paso looks like a toy grade body to me. It does have a Etronics servo as well but only 6Kg to the Fury's 15Kg and this was only £30 more a very much the better buy.
This video is for 14 years old and older. These Rc vehicles are dangerous as there are fast moving parts and hot parts that can burn.

Thanks, it's nice just hoping it will stop raining to get out as the ground is terrible. Plus had to rush Daniel to the hospital this week as the eyes flared up again. 7 weeks drops again and then constant until it sorts out.

Over the the Outback 3 this new Fury is a much better truck for £30 more. It has so many options I missed as so much to point out. Looking forward to running if the weather breaks.

Very nice. Metal wheels will definitely help because these are top heavy with the cage and rack on the body. I like the way FTX back their top coats with silver. You don't see that very often on RTR's.

I had been thinking of a fury Pro for sometime, but the tyres looked glued. This simple to change when I want to, but the tyres are just better. I did consider the V 3.0 but have the v.2 Bronco and the Paso looks like a toy. The extra £30 you get so much more, better electrics, 540 motor and the new transmission with all metal gears. The silver backed paint good and clear windows a lexan body as some can be a funny material like on the older Fury but only guessing.

@@BasBoyRC It looks like a another great deal from FTX for the money. My Fury Xtreme is a used Pro Spec Trail Roller Kit version I bought from eBay and came with two bodies which have been painted by the previous owner. The top coat of paint is good on both and they've been backed with black. The lexan is very thick on the bonnet, the cab roof & pillars, and the rear bed walls and bed. But it's thin and flexible on the sides all the way round. I assume they've used the same one on yours. My version also came with a spare wheel screwed to the back of the rear cage. I noticed yours has the bracket and the fixing hole but no wheel. That's a good thing because it obviously doesn't help with the weight distribution. I took mine off. I just watched Phil's (Tomley RC) video and it looked really good when he was running it.

@@hollyhillrc Then they are the same, I have the mount for the spare so will see if I can do a fake wheel or something. It's a good deal for the price, I would have got a V.3 but no roller kit as that was so much cheaper on the V.2. But this was a good way to go as it's larger. Just wished more did a clear body version.

It's a pretty capable rig. You should have a lot of fun with it. My only complaint for the most part was I wished they had made the back bed a little deeper for scale goodies. Hope to see it on the trails/rocks soon! 👍

The battery at the back did not help the bed depth. I expect it to be as good if not better then my Outback 2.

Nice truck, Mal, I must admit I've been impressed by most FTX gear I've had, the quality looks good on this one! The chassis looks very similar to my SCA1e except the battery is at the other end! I reckon you'll enjoy this one! :)

I have always loved my Outback's, the fury is larger and much better. It is a little like the Sca1e but more the V2 version. The electrics so much more when only £30 extra than the Outback V3 that has poor electrics with the terrible integrated esc/rec. Also hex screws now.

Should I go for this or the FTX Geo ? Which is better ?

  • @BasBoyRC

I do not know but I have had a look, first the body looks a lot more detailed over the Fury. The transmission is different and a larger motor 550/17t over a 540/18t. The Fury motor for me was a little to fast and have changed mine to a 45t. But if the 550 is a 5-pole it would be smoother but no information to say one way or the other. The Geo does seem to have more lights and the electrics ESC and servo seem the same. It has better shocks as they are more adjustable and other upgrade parts. I would say it a personal choice, FTX crawlers on these type chassis always seem to perform well. I have had a few runs out now and pleased with the Fury. I hope this is a little help otherwise look at other reviews as I cannot say more without a side by side comparison.

@@BasBoyRC thank you for your help & detailed comparison, another thing i am wanting to do is use other 313mm body shells & the fury looks like it has more user friendly body posts 👌🏼

  • @BasBoyRC

    @BasBoyRC

    Жыл бұрын

@@shaunescarlett.1 The body posts are more user friendly but would not take much to add front ones to the Geo as their shock mounts are the same style as the rear. Any 313mm chassis to me is a good choice as there are so many bodies you can choose for it. One thing where I watched the video of the Geo its lights having 3 plugs can be a pain. Out on the trails if you pull them out changing the battery a pain to get them all back in.

@@BasBoyRC that’s a very good point on both counts tbf, whichever i went for i think i would upgrade the ESC as i have a couple of new options awaiting a new home, the iSDT esc70 & the HW 108.
