A lot of flagship kills I see are very pyrrhic victories, like yeah the ship/crew 100% die as soon as the credits roll up lol.

The first time I blew up flagship 3 I didn't get a victory because I died before the animation happened and it scalded me yet again for not blowing up the flagship :c Like cmon man. This was also before I knew you could pause the game during combat.

Don't forget AJ! He gave his life defending what was left of the weapons systems.

I like the gratuitous artillery laser at 1:59 after the flagship was already destroyed. :) Also, in future, I highly recommend targeting the cockpit or engines, since reducing their dodge means you'll hit your targets more often. There's no sense in keeping shooting the shield system after it's already destroyed.

More than half the player's crew was dead, their ship was going down in flames, one of their Vulcan cannons was taken out of commission and the other was actively being wrecked by the rebel boarders, not to mention the fact that the flagship was about to fire their superweapon. The player was lucky to win at all; in fact, they were about two seconds away from losing, since their cockpit was burning, so every one of the enemy's shots would hit. I mean... fortunately, it all worked out, and they won, but targeting engines or cockpit would have dramatically increased their chance of success.

@@tormuse2916 Fully agree. In order: Weapons bay (or missles) then shield (unless shield is VERY high and you lack Ion/flak) then cockpit. As soon as cockpit is down, change to O2/Engine, depending of your weapon setup (higher breach chance go for O2, higher flame chance go for Engine). That has granted me the most victories with a standard (hulk smash) loadout. YMMV when going for specialty builds (hacking, drones, overall utility and crowd control).

I've been dying to get double vulcans...it'll happen some day.

+Duke Nukem It happened only once to me, and i had two shield drones and cloaking too. Very powerful, i have destroyed the three stages of the flagship suffering only minoe damage.

@@M.F.Hafizhan Yes. Once both vulcans spin up even the final boss is complete toast, although if your weapons control gets hit it takes forever to get going again.

Copy the save file outside of a shop. Quit the game then repaste it when you dont get the item you want from the shop XD

Since he almost lost he showed that just good weapons are not all that is necessary in this game. He had only level 3 engines even though he had more power to use them.

I think the worst play in this game is that they invested in drones, they are so costly and investing in engines will do much more than a defense or shield drone

@@handoverthestromboli6715 Defence 2 drones are worth using, since they’re fast enough to kill two of the flagship’s missiles, and they also stop lasers and I think ions. Good for when your cloaking is still recharging, 66% of the missiles won’t hit you. Of course, combined with 50% dodge would be even better. Defence 1 drones are something I wouldn’t consider competitive for the flagship at all, same for the shield drone. Anti-drones are typically too slow to do any good, and combat drones are only good if you have a good way of keeping shields down. Perhaps some janky build that spams ion bombs on the shield system, or a couple of those fast-firing or charge ion weapons. Repair drones and anti personnel drones are cheap enough that I wouldn’t consider them a waste of power, and boarding drones are cool. Until they get stuck in the laser weapon room. With that build, I’d have definitely wanted to spec into engines and not drones.

Vulcan are not "good weapons", they are low tier. Burst Laser II and 2 Flak Is would perform much better than this for two less energy.

@@Scrogan I had a defense 1 singlehandedly reduce the flagship's hacking and boarding drones to dust. Little bugger shot down all 10 hacking drones and all the boarding drones.

This build can be so much fun But if your weapons systems get hit, then everything begins to fall apart

I love that even when you show an OP weapon setup in this game the flagship battle is still tough as nails

Weapon pre igniter, 2 autoloader. Or if you have stealth system, weapon pre igniter, autoloader and stealth weapon.

Pre igniter only has the first shot charged up, it’s not that useful on vulcans

Cuts out a third of the loading time, which is still better than nothing.

Looks like a really quick way to level up your gunner. Just swap your whole crew through the weapons room before the boss just in case.

I'm left baffled as to how is thr flagship causing so much trouble if a couple good guns can take it down.

I've had some really fun layouts for the flagship. LIke double Ion blast II guns with a single beam combat drone.... and a few others you'd be happy I managed to pull off.

That is because the second vulcan is significantly worse than the first. The smallest damage will not only stop the second one from firing, it will also reset it after it is fixed. Almost any other weapons would have been better. The only reason to get two vulcans is for having two vulcans.

I know what i am going to do.

The person in the video wasn't that good at micromanagement. Poor use of cloak, crew just chilling in medbay at full health not going back to stations. Keeping his shield drone for some reason unpowered even though it was the flagship gotta save up those drone parts. Then at the end running near dead crew single file to their deaths for some reason. Form a straight line! You are all dying today! That all said, it proves how good double vulcans can be, it carried him to a victory that probably wasn't earned.

The Chain Vulcan was his win condition. He was on the final phase of the final boss, there isn't much sense in self preservation at that point. Seemed to me like he redirected the aggro on weapons to his crew instead to keep his Vulcan online just long enough to take down the flagship

He didn't throw crew at them because he mistakenly thought that it would kill them, the point was to delay them long enough to win. And wouldn't you know it, that worked.

This person's vulcans would have been taken out if they didn't do something about the invaders in the weapons room. Look at how fast they were destroying the weapons system; if this player didn't send their crew members to fight the invaders, their single remaining vulcan would have been taken out, they would have no weapons to defend themselves, and they would have lost. It was a smart decision that won the game.
