Seems like a good thing on the surface, but it is more government policy on our "free" market. Talented salespeople should seek careers with companies that do not have non-competes, or negotiate it out of their employment agreement. The direction we've been going for many decades: people are too stupid to govern themselves, so let's leave it up to the stupid and reckless government to determine how we should do business. It's an oversimplification of a bigger problem, but in my opinion, you have to be careful not to advocate for these 3-letter agencies creating "rules" that we all have to live and abide by.

If you run your company like you should, it won’t be an issue, but this is great for the workers, so they can get out of terrible situations and stay in their field of work.

I think that's a great thing. I have declined several roofing offers because I ain't going to sign any BS noncompete. It is bad unfair practice and not ethical and that's why the FTC had to get involved. Its all about understanding the difference between Force vs Power. Are you always trying to Force yourself up the stream or are you flowing down with the Power of the stream. When you get this, you will never have to struggle with anything or anybody anymore!!
