My cucmbers that I had started from seeds were looking ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and I planted them in a VERY LARGE POT but within two days for some reason they died. They had enough water and were in the Sun also. I don't have any understanding as to why they would have died overnight. It's beyond me. All of my perennials are doing GREAT. I was rushed to the Emergency Room because a Specialist Accidentally cut my Spinal Cord open and could not stop the fluid from pouring out of me. So I have to be extremely careful not to bend a lot until it all heals on the inside. I have another appointment with a different Specialist this Wednesday. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed that I will be able to get out into my little garden to finish planting what I need to put in the pots or ground. GREAT JOB Frugal Mommy with all your gardening.

bury your used steel wool pads around the hydrangeas. This will result in blue flowers. Digging crushed eggshells into surrounding soil should pink up the flowers. So no money involved in amending colours. See how you go, depending on what colour your are looking for.

Amy you could make that old shed into a little greenhouse to start your seedlings in for your garden. I love the decorative items you have in your garden area. I think frugal daddy is a hoarder 😂 . I know it must be very frustrating for you. I love your front yard looking out over the river plus all your beautiful flowers. Do you still have your senior dog ? I think she is called Darma? I haven’t seen her lately. I also love your iron fencing . You have a really nice size yard with great shade trees. Love to you and the family ❤❤

When I lived in Indiana I discovered Mulberry trees, so many, by my apartment. After I moved back to Michigan, I found 1(!) on during a walk. I knocked on the homeowner’s door and asked if I could pick them and the owner jumped with joy-PLEASE DO!!! So now I get all I need! Nice video! I love blue hydrangeas. Mine has been blue but turned pink the last 2 years. I have acid spill and acid water that is from a well so I was/am confused. This year I found this soil acidifier and used it and one turned a deep purple, two are blue. I treated them all with the soil acidifier. In SE Pennsylvania and they updated us from 6b to 7a. I'm glad your tomatoes are doing well right next to the potatoes. My cucumbers were accidentally planted where potatoes are growing, turns out the potatoes starve cucumbers, tomatoes etc of potassium. I am about to give up. Enjoy when you have your harvest

Why "about to give up" when you have realized your errors or "what went wrong" AND what went right? Gardening is a continual learning process. Keep going with your gardening/growing and learning😃keep a lil notebook and jot down what you have learned. Next planting season just refer to that notebook and make adjustments. You'll be glad that you didn't give up. 10 yrs from now you will look back on this time and laugh at yourself and shake your head with "I was suchhh a newbie back then"..

Heartworms aren't caused by drinking pond or dirty water they are caused by a mosquito that carries the parasite which in turn transmits to your dog when bitten. There are other diseases that can be transmitted through dirty water but heartworm isn't one of them.

Hi Amy, one of the easiest ways we have found to amend the soil is by mulching with something like sugar cane mulch. We do live in an area where we can obtain this easily, but during a hot summer it breaks down well. Maybe something like pea or Lucerne straw would be available in your area. I am in Australia by the way. It also helps to water with beneficial bacteria to improve the microbiome of the soil which in turn aids the plants with their nutrient uptake. 🙂

Your potatoes need to have the soil hoed up around them as they grow. You may need to add loose soil if you don't have enough. The tops are all you should see by harvest time. The potatoes will continue to produce higher & higher as you add losse dirt around them. Potatoes grow bigger & produce more when you keep the soil losse around them. I'm not trying to be a know it all. My father taught us to garden our entire lives. He always had award winning potatoes @ our state fair year after year.

Lovely garden and yard. My variety of roses are feeding the deer. Cherry trees are loaded. Blackberry bushes are over six feet tall. Berries are black, but the plants take over the ground. Chestnut trees, two varieties have bloomed and now forming nuts. Abundant rain and high winds are doing some damage, but it will soon be very dry. This will be our fifth year for draught in WA. Imagine it with all the rivers but it is the snowfall that keeps the salmon habitats going. Have Logan berry bushes that are quirky--they don't ripen until late fall but want to keep growing over and under the ground. Have spent years on mulch, nitrogen bearing plant and tree foods. Apple trees and chestnuts did not bear much last year. Growing season this year is weird. Some things seem to have lost their way for when they should bloom or bear fruit. Wils elderberries (red) that are poisonous have fruit ripening already. I plant l English laurel for the blue/black berries. Everything is for the wildlife. Deer, raccoons, squirrels all come for food. WA, Puget Sound, Whidbey Island, Deception Pass, rain, mist, wind, cooler temperatures, 60's.😊
