I have extra feeders, that I switch every 1 1/2 hours or so at daytime. I bring them in at night.

So precious… we just hit -10 on the West Coast here mines frozen solid. Any ideas on how to thaw quickly so I can feed them before night

👍good idea, keep em warm. I mix about half water & the rest sugar so they can fuel up really fast & their sugar water doesn’t freeze easily. Plus I keep a bright light on the feeders so they can feed at anytime. We don’t get hard freezes here just frost so I tape hot hands disposable paper hand warmers to the feeders. I just use masking tape for easy removal in the morning. We have a big water fountain near the feeders so they can drink & bathe. We get so many. The little miracles move so fast I’m sure we can’t see all their movements.

That's nice. I found out if the feeder food gets to cold in extreme temps, it can give the little guys hypothermia. I don't have a heater on mine yet. So, I had to go and change the food every few hours when it got below freezing. It's good to bring the feeder in at night when sooo cold. I love my hummingbirds. You do to. 👍❣️
