Anna feels more socially awkward yet charming and genuine in this (via the actresses’ facial expressions and visual gags), while her movie version feels like a watered-down version of that.

@@mesa8680 It’s my opinion, you don’t have to agree that one’s ‘better’ than the other. The movie’s more canon, but the deception (conflicted ice Queen, socially inexperienced and wacky Princess) seem more exaggerated in the play. I like that, but I understand if you don’t see it.

You can just see how happy the actress who played Elsa was at the end. As someone taking theater classes currently, I just know how much those cheers meant to her.

I love in this they hinted at Hans’ evil side. In the movie the plot twist made no sense. When he first met Anna he had a sincere smile when she left. Not a “this is my chance” smile. He also could have let Elsa kill the other dudes and it would make him have a reason to arrest her.

I love that we already see Hans real intentions in the way that he replicates Anna’s awkward behaviours and sometimes looks like „Omg I‘ve caught a weirdo, keep going even if she’s annoying“. Don’t know if that’s just a nuance, that Ryan added to the role but I like it.

Because having to painstakingly draw a different face made every few frames and animate it, plus proper shadowing of facial expressions is extremely difficult and tedious so, for the sake of the creator's&everyone else's sanity, given the insane deadlines given for the creation of the show, I forgive the slight lack of extreme expressions

cartoons are absolutely capable of being more expressive than real people (one reason why people deride disney's live-action remakes, amongst other reasons) BUT that's the wonderful thing about theatre: being super expressive and making sure it's seen and *felt* is like a huge part of performing onstage. so serious props to stage actors. so much strength and power and thought goes behind their every little movement, particularly when they have to do it almost everyday (depending on the production), live, and they deserve *all* the praise.

A lot of people don't know it, but I LOVE that they indirectly included the outtakes (the songs that were originally made for the Disney animation film, but didn't make it) here in the musical. The air and the spare, what Anna says, is a song and for example also the handclap of little Anna and Elsa. That song is called We Know Better. I love Frozen.

I literally love how the song's name Love is an Open Door is literally what love is to both of them. Hans wants an open door for a new place to live and stay, maybe even rule. Anna's love is someone who won't push her away and is by her side. Took me forever to figure that out.

I mean if you think about it, frozen was set in old Europe. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that the olay has poc but I feel like it would be fine if it didn't.

@@nothanks6738 it wasn't strictly historically accurate, but when u set a film in a certain place at a certain time, straying away from that would make it obvious and well, it would seem off. if the world is entirely imaginary or mythical you can do whatever you want, but in cases like most disney films it would be weird and wrong to go against it. but i see that in Frozen II they did add at least one poc in a more protagonistic role, so ig they did liberate a bit from that on this case? either way, we shouldn't be trying to change films that already exist and are established as major influences throughout the years, but instead just push disney to make new ones, meeting those standards. same goes for the live action adaptations.

This took my breath away and it wasn't even the full musical. I didn't realize it was a thing until seeing this. On my list of must watch movies/musicals

i've stood on stages a few times and every time before i went on stage i had so much stress and anxiety that i forgot some of the words on stage but i was lucky enough to save my self buy saying i what i understood or skipping some things

As i go through seeing the musicals I see Ryan (who played Hans) in everything and I’m not even mad he’s so good at his roles

Seriously? Someone is hiding in a hole in the stage and rips it so the velcro comes apart. They are hidden by the fog machine and as soon as the dress is ripped, the hole closes up. It's so basic, yet probably their best. Just ashame Disney stole that staging idea from a smaller stage show......their original was horrible

Here to add what I noticed last night on the tour: when Hans is using the girls’ absence to take a leadership position, he’s started wearing their father’s coat. I noticed it and it made me so furious I gasped 😂

As someone who has done a production of Frozen and has literally helped with the dress transformation, that still made my jaw drop! That was flawless!

I swear people only hated on this show because it's Disney but you cannot tell me for a second this is not first class theatre

Nobody hated on Beauty and the Beast or Lion King when they went to Broadway. So it being Disney isn't the reason. Little Mermaid was so difficult to make actually work and I don't think it ever really got ironed out (I don't have any solutions for it either). I don't think Frozen's a bad show, but I don't think it's as good as Beauty and the Beast or Lion King as a whole. This cast is crazy talented though.

Nobody hated this show because "it's Disney". If that were the case, then the Lion King, Little mermaid, Aladdin, wouldn't be hit shows. People hate on the Frozen Broadway show because it has a ton of flaws.

@@aanyaprasad6120 very possible! Frozen had such a crazy amount of hype in the first few years. Let It Go became my generation's version of the My Heart Will Go On phenomenon. Good song becomes incredibly overplayed and people just get tired of it. In either case, they will always have their fans. Stans, I guess they say these days.

Dear Lord, that woman can SING!!! The transformation gown change is awesome. This is the only version of that song that made me cry.

"Let It Go" now has a three octave range. Only the elites can sing it.

Kristoff is so much funnier in this than the movie, I love it.

One of my favourite things I've noticed in these musicals is Disney don't give a fuck about the colour of your skin or anything, you got the voice and the talent they want you

hey, fun fact, Hans could never be king. king is a higher title than queen, and since anna is the one in the royal family, he couldnt outrank her, so he'd stay a prince. also, if she died the crown wouldn't go to Hans either

Yeah! Considering that Elsa could inherit the crown, is likely that Anna would too, and he'd be a prince-consort. I'm not sure if he really wouldn't inherit the crown in case she died, though.

@@CorHellekin Actually, in a monarchy like Arendelle has, if the queen dies and doesn't have any sisters or daughters the crown automatically goes to the closest female relative (niece, aunt, cousin, etc etc. Pretty much long as they'refemale and have a drop of royal blood they can become queen) so even if Anna died Hans would still have 0 chance of getting the throne! You'd think he'd do his research before trying to slaughter the royal family and take over, but thats on him lmao
