    great video, thank you very much. I have a question about the interpretation of "in between" for "intervining terrain" when shooting. I understand that only terrain that lies on the flight line between the shooter and the target counts. So only the terrain over or through which the arrow flies. My teammate understands that terrain that the arrow flies past also counts as "intervining terrain". For example: If the target and the shooter are facing each other on a road without cover, he wants to count all terrain to the left and right of the road that the arrow passes unhindered with +1 for the target. Which view is the right one? In between as in "lying in line between shooter and target" or in between like "on the way between shooter and target passed terrain" I am happy if you can clear this up

  • @bricksblocksgaming8017

    @bricksblocksgaming8017

    3 жыл бұрын

    Good question, the wording in the book is a little vague. My understanding is that only terrain that obscures the line of sight counts. So if you’re shooting through a doorway but can see the entire figure you’re targeting, the doorway isn’t “Intervening Terrain.” Or if your in a tower, shooting over a lower building and a few piles of rubble, they won’t count unless they are tall enough to obscure the figures legs or something. I tried to find support for either view and the best I found is a FB post from Joseph McCullough where he talked about figures as intervening terrain and said, “...every miniature that is in the line would count as intervening terrain.” Stating “in the line” makes me interpret that to mean the figure (or terrain) must be obscuring some part of the Line of Sight to the target.

  • @bricksblocksgaming8017

    @bricksblocksgaming8017

    That’s awesome you’re considering getting it for your library! It’s just the book. It has a “what you need to play” section that explains terrain, miniatures, dice, and tokens you’ll need to use - and encourages players to use whatever they have (boxes, styrofoam, folded card stock, etc.) if they don’t have actual miniatures and terrain. There is an official line of miniatures from North Star Games, but again players are encouraged to use whatever they want. There are a number of expansions/supplements that add some extra options and more scenarios and stories to play through, but the core book has everything you “need” and 20 scenarios which gives plenty of options (the supplements are also all paperback which might be problematic for library books). Let me know if you have other questions!

    hello a swimming question (TN5) what does it mean? who adds +5 or takes away from me -5?

  • @bricksblocksgaming8017

    @bricksblocksgaming8017

    3 жыл бұрын

    TN5 means Target Number 5. So on a d20 you need to roll a 5 or better to succeed. Since it's a Will Roll for swimming, you add your Will stat modifier to the result. The swimming roll is a little trickier than most checks because there are additional negative modifiers based on Armours, Shields, and Treasures being carried. So a Knight carrying a Treasure would roll a d20, add +1 for their Will, then apply -5 for Heavy Armour, apply -1 for carrying a Shield, and apply -2 for carrying the Treasure (so d20 +1, -5, -1, -2 - or d20-7). If the result is less than 5 they take damage equal to the amount they failed by and can take no actions that turn.

    They’re similar enough that knowing one will make it really easily to learn the other, but different enough to offer some variety. Stargrave is more focused on shooting combat and the interactions with Loot is quite a bit different (2 types that have to be unlocked/hacked into). Also spells in Frostgrave are generally much more powerful than the powers in Stargrave.

I noticed you allow yourself and your audience to be trounced by unvetted corporate advertisers, presumably with the hope of getting that sweet, sweet KZread kickback money... so how's that working out for you? Got a few extra lego sets laying around at the expense of your character? No hard feelings, I'm just a friend trying to wake people up to how they get manipulated into having their good intentions perverted to serve the schemes of the unscrupulous. Hi Brian, thanks for the comment; I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I do make a small amount of money from Google Ad Sense, however KZread places ads in videos whether they're monetized or not - I noticed ads popping up in my videos before my channel was even eligible to monetize. So I figured I might as well monetize and get something back for it. I was also kind of curious how much monetization actually pays. I have thought in the past about creating a Patreon account or something, however I don't want to feel bound or pressured into creating something just because someone signed up to give me money, expecting specific content or a specific frequency of releases. I do wish that content creators had more say into what kind of ads played in their videos. Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions - they are something I have and do put a lot of thought into, and your comment has made me consider the subject even more.👍
