Do the old GW LotR miniatures work with the official frostgrave ones in terms of size? I have an old Gandalf and Aragon I want to use. I think they are from the Fellowship of the Ring pack from the first LotR movie. Thanks!

Use the rule of cool for miniatures. For Dark Alchemy #1 I do not have Giant Rats, so using Skaven Clanrats. Just use the same stats as per the creature. Same with customizing a soldier type, for example Crow Master uses Blood Crows. If you want something different say a Skaven Rat Master, or Gnoll Vulture Master. Just use the same stats as per the soldier type and pet. For paper terrain, I bought some by Dave Graffam. Try wargamevault.com. At the time of writing this, there is a sale on some of his items. For example the ruined church model is going for £0.80p GBP and RRP is £3.97.

Solid overview. Good to point out all the cheep minis you can use. I use a lot of old MageKnight and HeroClix, which you can find cheep on Ebay. Keep up the good work!

Excellent video, my friend! As you know, I've been interested for a while, but lack someone to play. If I wanted to do a co-op game like you and Harry as a bargaining chip, would I be able to do that from the core book, or would I need an expansion? ~ Wolf-brother Methos

Thanks very much! The dark alchemy expansion has the solo/co-op campaign in it, you can pick up the digital rulebook and the expansion for under £15 (not sure on the $) once you have played those scenarios; its pretty easy to make your own up to continue playing solo.

I got most of the Frostgrave books new for around £25. Main Rules, Into the Breeding Pits, Forgotten Pacts. Dark Alchemy, Sellsword on www.Amazon.co.uk For USD prices on www.Amazon.com , I've seen the main rules for $11.29 +$3.99 shipping.

After getting dark alchemy i would say that is massively essential because of everything that it changes. Cant buy elixir of life so cheap, strength potion dearer and now only f+1. It changes the game so much. I would also say have some paper handy for wall, fog and mud spell to make templates. Would love to see how your warband has grown and challenge you with my skaven lol.

The Great thing about Frostgrave and similar rulsets, is using whatever miniatures you want. Love to see some Skaven running around Felstad.

Hi Kiblams, I don't know if you read these comments at all? But anyway, if you still play Frostgrave (questionmark), I'm just looking into it, and it looks like they have got a plethora of additional books to get, which ones are "needed" so to speak, and which ones aren't?

I do 😀 basically you just need the main rulebook. The others just five small expansions and extra scenarios. A good one to start with is dark alchemy as it has a single player/co-op campaign in it which is great for learning the game.

Thanks man! I think this could be a great game to also get some friends into, who have little to no experience in wargaming because of how simple the rules seem, as well as the small model count. I'm looking at the rules right now... the only thing I kind of miss is the choice to not be represented as a mage, but as a warlord... who knows I can cook up some home rules =) Will rewatch your video's on Frostgrave now, because when I watched them when you released them, I wasn't looking to play anything, just checking what you were keeping busy with hehe.

Try out Rangers of Shadowdeep. A solo game from the same author. Very similar structure to Frostgrave...with a Ranger as the head character...more of a narrative story driven game. Also, Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago takes place in a jungle setting with a new class, the Heritor at the helm.

Ordered the book a box of knights, soldiers and a wizards set to use for main wizard and apprentice. Anything else people would recommend

That should be enough, just make a range of all of the soldier options with those and you're good to go!

Aww man I really want to get into this but I don't think my local gaming club plays and it seems like you have to play on a regular basis. Which I can't commit it 😔

+Peninsula Painting Projects that sucks! It really is a great game, and shares a lot of gameplay aspects with the new Necromunda funnily enough.

I found these tokens when I first started playing and wouldn't play a game without them, pretty good value you get all the spells that have an effect, generic wounded and crossbow empty. It's really all down to your personal choice, and the soldiers you take initially will all be of the lower type because of gold restrictions. In Frostgrave you have to think of your soldiers as expendable, to be fired/hired and lost in battle regularly. And so they will get to be better soldiers are your warband gathers gold through the missions.

***** cool, I'm thinking on using empire and bretonnian peasants and maybe wizardfolk from there too.. for elemetal rute. Beastmen for shaman And bretonnian reliqua dudes as necromancer crews .. need to see and figure out how to make it look good
