Solo seeder is 100% the way to go. A little more expensive than the earthway but very nice to pour seed into and user friendly. I’ve had gear problems with the earthway after very little use. Repaired numerous times and still have problems.

@@northwoodswhitetailsfoodpl2663 Hey john im goin to be planting a screen of the tecumseh this year. I can only do about a 5ft wide wide strip on the width hunting. Would u still recommend walking in the same pattern as you describe when spreading? Straight then zigzag? Ive never done switch so i just want to get it right. Just curious since it was such a narrow width to cover. Thanks john!

For small seeds like brassica and clover, Scott's makes a small green plastic handheld spreader that works great on a 1 or 2 setting. I use a 1 setting when walking and a 2 setting if I'm in the bed of my UTV getting a ride. I also like it because you can actually see the seed while spreading it, so you can get a better idea if your setting/speed is right.

I agree, much easier and accurate with small Scott’s spreader. I like to monitor the amount of seed coming out that you can’t really do with a large bag spreader. Clover seed too small.

The solo white plastic chest seeder is very good and a must for larger seed. Stick with the Earthway 2750 for bag seeder. Have had poor luck with the Chapman knockoff red bag seeder and DO NOT recommend. Chapman gears are fragile.
