    Hey Robert, Thank you so much for your helpful videos and instructions on doing home repairs on the 850 Volvo! I used the taillight video a few weeks ago and just yesterday, the seat recliner (cable) repair. Without your step-by-step instruction, it would have been a task I would be hesitant to tackle. Getting a replacement driver's seat, even at a "Used Auto Parts" (junk yard), would have been really expensive and a bigger job. I owe you, at least, a debt of gratitude and will recommend your great, helpful videos to everyone who needs assistance. THANK YOU SIR!!

    Was able to use this to help me fix the same problem with my 940. The motor on one side, I had thought died, but after seeing the cable in your video, I was able to fix it no problem. The cable had simply fallen out. Fortunately, it was on the side of the chair too, so I didn't actually have to move anything. Took me less than a minute. Thanks a bunch, Robert. I'd read a whole bunch of mumbojumbo on different forums, but none of them actually spoke directly to this problem of a chair stuck in recline. You explain the issue and solution quite clearly.

    Hi Robert: Your video helped me repair the recline/incline cable on my '93 850. It works, and I got the seat buttoned up with the zip ties (saved so much time). Thanks Robert you are a genius. since my seat upholstery is in poor condition I saved a lot of time and hassle by cutting the stitches in the seam that is between the left side bolster of the seat and the vinyl seat back proper to gain access. Instead of shortening the cable housing I noticed that the cable is of the same type as an ordinary speedometer cable. It is 27-1/2" in length. I had a longer one made that is 28-1/4" in length. Do-it-yourself kits are also available to make inner Speedo cables but I couldn't find one readily. Anyway, this solved the problem of the defective design or implementation of the design for this seat. The slit in the back of the seat is hardly noticeable and will be covered by the seat covers I am going to get any way.

    Does it click or anything when you select the other directions? Sounds like you have a problem with your control buttons. • @RobertDIY

    10 жыл бұрын

    jarvon holmes Sure, swing by. LOL Just kidding. The seat issue is like this seat problem but much easier to fix. Under the seat you can see 3 motors. These motors have cables going into them with maybe 8 mm bolts holding the cable brackets in. You find the motor that moves the side of the seat you are having issues with, pull the cable end out, trim it like in this video, put it back together and you're good to go.

  • @RobertDIY

    @RobertDIY

    10 жыл бұрын

    jarvon holmes As for the AC issue, you likely have a vacuum like loose behind the glove box. You have to pull the glove box out, find the vacuum cluster in front of the duct system, find the one that is damaged or loose, connect it and you should be good.

    +Robert DIY no prob. been checking out those forum and Maval seems be mentioned in a good light quite often. getting it done on monday. $700, plus one stabilizer bar link. learned a lesson. repair leaking steering rack, or the ps fluid will destroy stabilizer bar link rubber, hence destroying the link. ps fluid also destroys control arm bushings. so i'll have to replace my right control arm bushing and right stabilizer bar link. Total $1000.

    Has something to do with the controller calibration. Try unplugging the controller, plug it back in and see if that helps.

    The only part that really concerns me is those clip rings coming through the foam. I guess it will make more sense when I'm actually doing it, but I really don't wanna have to rip the foam. Sort of confused on how those clip rings can come out without ripping the foam

    Does this fix the issue if your seat will not incline? My seat is stuck in complete recline, it will not sit upright at all. Thanks! (Temporarily fixed it by getting another seat, but I would rather have my original back, as the spare seat is not powered)

    Does it move in any direction? The seats usually have an overload circuit, silver looking thing in the fuse panel. Either that or a relay has gone bad. You will have to have someone test it to see if power is going to the motor.
