There are no words that can describe someone as humble as you Chuck. I grew up in Northern Quebec, played hockey and over the years I have met and known some of the biggest stars in the NHL, hall of farmers who played in the 50s on through to present. Have never asked for an autograph a picture or anything else from them. They are just people, some really nice and others not so much. I am wealthy, but more importantly I am rich with wonderful friends and like you I can't wait to go do the outdoors thing. I would be more proud to tell someone I know Chuck Porter than Dave Keon or Wendle Clark and they are good people, but Chuck Porter can touch your heart ❤️

What great philosophy of life. All you need is enough money to enjoy the little things in life, a day on the slopes, a day fishing, a walk in the woods, a hi from your grandchild and most important good health. Life doesn't get any better than this. There is no purse in hearse. Life is what you make it and what you make it is up to you. The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity and the optomist finds opportunities in every difficulty. I went for a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees. There is no wifi in the forest but the connection is much better. Simply put, enjoy the flats bye ( the time in between the highs and lows of life).

Great Topic! My Dad used to say " Well, I'm working on my second million...because I gave up on my first a long ways back" . And I never really thought much about what that really meant until he passed in June of 2012. At his celebration at the funeral home, hundreds of people came. Family .friends, people he knew through his business . And as i sat there talking with some of them , and seeing all of the others, I realized exactly what he meant. I could not think in my whole lifetime ,of 45 years at that point, of one single person who knew him that didn't like him, or didn't have a great story about him. He died a rich man. Anyways, Its always great to hear your insight on these things. Peace!

What , wait you mean I'm not going to get rich and famous any time soon , darn it all my hopes and dreams just flew out the window LOL What a great speech Chuck, you brought up so many points but the biggest the resonated with me is, you rich not because of the money you have but for the people you have in your life. It got my wife and I talking after and my wife had planned on retiring this month , but due to COVID she got laid off three years ago, about the same time our first and only today Granddaughter was born, could we afford for her to give up work early , ...probably not.....but we're not starving , we have a little roof over our head, we are warm, and our hearts are filled nearly every day with that little girl when she comes to visit and to think what we would have missed in those three years money can't buy. I worked from home about 80% since COVID but last May I also threw in the towel and we get to spend more time together with our kids (four of them) all grown up (all have professional careers) , but will always be my kids and I'm able to drop what ever I'm at now and go with them and help them, we don't always get along but they know I'm always here. I will never have riches of money , but I'll always have what money can't buy. From my family to yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Oh my, Chuck Porter! What truth you just said! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I just retired last month from a small Janitorial Business that kept me going most of my working life. As you can imagine I never got rich & famous, but the other small things in life, such as being able to go to my camp, to enjoy the outdoors for FREE! That brings me happiness! I spent most of December down at the camp, going for long walks, cooking over open fires and seeing the little & large animal life. One particular moment was when I was "way back of beyond" and a flock of chickadees started coming around me. What sweet little critters! Chickadees have always been my favorites! In the still winter woods to hear their little chirps makes me "rich"! Most of the chickadees here in Nova Scotia are blackcaps but there was this one particular chickadee that had a BROWN cap! Have you seen a brown cap chickadee Chuck? You probably have up there in Labrador. Well experiences like that mean the world to me... Never become rich & famous Chuck! I like you the way you are, enjoying that outdoor winter!
