"Never thought I could do it." - Tyler Franklin, APC Diploma of Emergency Health Care student.
When Tyler graduated year 12, she became a Personal Trainer, but soon decided that she wanted to do a bit more and help people in a different way.
"I always considered paramedicine, but just never thought I really had the right study side of things, and I didn't feel like I was smart enough for it. The Diploma kind of gave me an option to try the diploma and actually give myself a chance to see whether I did cope with the side of the studies and the terminology and everything that kind of comes into it. I've been loving it."
The Diploma has given Tyler so much confidence that she is now considering doing a Paramedicine and Nursing double degree .
"From there I can hopefully be a paramedic in one of the states in Australia or even head overseas, do volunteer work, or even in the London service as well."
So why did Tyler choose Australian Para Medical College as a pathway to become a paramedic?
"I chose APC because it had the flexible learning as well. So I very much prefer online study. I feel like I can set it at my own pace. I can sort of pick up the computer or books and kind of study whenever I want to, which is fantastic. Especially being a PT, our hours are everywhere, so it's great."
Tyler has been pleasantly surprised by the support she has received during her study.
"Everyone's been so fantastic, [...] even organizing placement and stuff, you're still able to organize the placement and talk to the people in head office and they're happy to help you out. If you are struggling or you need a bit more assistance, give them a call. They're always there."
"Doing the diploma definitely kind of sets you up. So when you do go onto the Bachelor or eventually go onto the Bachelor, then you kind of feel a bit more prepared and like you're ready to kind of tackle the the Big B basically."
