It took me three days to get through this long episode but I knew it would be worth every minute and it was! Whitney and Jim are so in sync with each other it is uncanny.
"we just want to see people we respect and admire being as miserable as us" she gets it
Great conversation! I loved when Whitney was being so compassionate about little babies crying on airplanes, and then saying "...their little ears." ❤ It's shocking how many jerks get annoyed.
"Hey, your shoulder is bleeding!" ...I almost choked on the smoke from that joke!

I really enjoyed the honest male/female views on topics which show the real difference between how we assume the other sex feels about things and how they actually view things. More of this sort of this please. Especially in this friendly and decent way of discussing things.........So refreshing for conversations not to be hostile from the go.
this conversation is captivating, and they feel like a couple of mates. i like it

35:00 It's called "practicing medicine" for a reason. but, on the off chance you do read this comment, what happens is the newbie surgeon goes in the operating room numerous times with a pro, and they watch, and little by little the pro lets them do small steps in the surgery. at first you might just be holding someone's leg (for an ortho) then you get to hold the clam that's keeping an artery closed, then you might get to do the first incision, then you get to suture, etc.

There's an amazing story begind a Sally Mann portrait of one of her kids. I can't remember which one. She had a lot of pictures of her kids nude because they were use to being like this in the summer, running around and just being how they were. She is an amazing photographer that captured a very real life with a lot of emotion. She got a lot of backlash for some of her pictures. But the point is this: the portrait had a title along the lines of "the day he/she (it was the actual name) said it was the last one (nude picture)". This is just a memory of the title, I can be quite far off. And the whole statement of this image is that it captured the day her little boy/girl decided that he or she wasn't comfortable anymore with being seen nude by its mother. It's an amazing picture. For real. The point of this is that there is no age as long as you listen to your children. They'll let you know when it's not ok anymore for them. And it's up to the parent to respect it. BTW, she did respect it.

Sounds good to me. I never understood the stigma with nudity. I still find it absolutely bonkers that most households have at least one pet, where the dog/cat is walking around butt ass naked with their junk hanging out, and their ass in full view and no one bats an eyelash, but when humans are seen naked its somehow an affront to god, and traumatizing to everyone around them.

@@manuele.itriagom.728 Yooo, thats awesome. I'm currently living in ontario canada. And before I moved here, I heard that it was legal for women to go topless here! Well, I've lived her for almost 10 years, and I have not seen ONE topless woman, gawd dammit! I really like the way things are in europe, as far as censorship goes. Over there, it seems like they're more concerned about violence then nudity, which makes a lot more sense, as violence is actually dangerous. Nudity is just not having clothes. For some reason in the west, they are really backward here.

"back in the old days a political disagreement was an interesting conversation" People would literally be locked up or killed for holding certain political views. People fought and died for political causes. We live in a very accepting time when it comes to discussion around politics, and there are more political conversations than ever before.
@MatchesMalone1183
4 жыл бұрын
That it's safer to have political discourse now than it was in Soviet Russia or Nazi Germany for example, is hardly a laudable thing when it has been getting more a more difficult over the last five, ten years. Pretty much since the woke anti free speech, cancel culture, "hate speech" is literal violence, fucking nonsense has taken hold. We may be on the downslope from that, but then again it could just get worse.
@yelir4904
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is so true. I find that anyone who bemoans how hard hard it is to have a "civil" conversation "these days" do this a lot. They complain about PC culture overreaching and killing conversation when they're using "the old days" as the pinnacle of culture to overreach and exaggerate, thus killing possible conversation. Things have been much worse (especially for people who "PC culture" and "identity politics" are just their day to day existence).
@jhondo4417

I agree to a point. But It seems like things are pretty much reverting to the days of old. I could be wrong though, with the algorithims nowadays just feeding you things. Who really knows? For example I googled the "Proud Boys" out of curiosity because I like to hear all sides. Maybe I am just being fed all the cases of censorship because I search out ALL points of view and I am only seeing that aspect.
