I have been listening to this Silent Planet for only about 3 months now. I've been an opiate addict for 15 years with the last 5 being pretty much excessively heroin. I've seen numerous interviews with Garrett, jam his band and I've read through his lyrics a bunch. He also puts references for a lot of the lines he writes in his lyrics so when you read them you get a deeper understanding of what he is saying. I have been really trying to listen to what Garrett has been saying to me and I just have to say that God has been speaking through Garrett, using his words, and using those references in his lyrics to speak to me when I was far from wanting to hear what was being said. But then when I started to listen to what God was saying through Garrett's writing then all of the chaos in my life calmed and God's grace and love poured over me. I began to read God's word, almost by accident, when reading through Garrett's lyrics and he would reference a Bible verse I would look it up. I began to dig deeper and I began really feeling like I was reading God's word for the first time. Even though I was raised in a Christian family and went to a Christian school I have always hated religion especially Christianity. I realize now that I never truly understood what Christianity was, who Jesus really is, and what He has done for me. I have a long way to go in my recovery from opiates but my new walk getting to know Jesus and finding out what Christianity truly is about is the best thing that has ever happened to me. My life finally has substance and meaning now. My heart was hardened by the world before God softened it by showing me His grace. Now if you knew me then you would understand how insane that sounds coming from me but I'm a new man. I'm not the same anymore. Jesus has changed me and I believe that I'm a child of God and that Jesus died for me so that I can truly live. Without sounding ridiculous and cliche (that's even cliche) but I'm struggling to put the right words together to explain what God has done for me through Silent Planet during these 3 months of my recovery and brand new walk with Jesus. Idk if Garrett reads any comments from these old interviews on KZread but if he does and he is reading this then I just gotta say that: God has blessed you with a beautiful gift of expression. The words God puts on your heart and the talent He has blessed you with truly reaches out to get the attention of His lost children. Thank you for expressing yourself and your faith in God with us. Your words give me an insight into what God has placed in all of our hearts. It helps me to understand myself a bit better. I've begun a truly amazing journey and relationship with Jesus now and I've never felt this free and happy. God Bless you guys. Y'all are awesome and I look forward to catching a show this year when y'all come through TX. (Sorry this comment was so long but this has been a long time coming) 😂🙏

Thank you for these deep insights into your personal journey! I can just adivse you to look for a christian community (Even a group of 3-4 people, who want to go in the same direction, is so strong and they can really hold your back). Sharing our storys is one of the most powerful weapons we got. Just hearing your story about getting touched by this music opened my eyes, becouse i think alot about evangilation and this just gave me courage to go my way and try to touch people in my style (Not in a cliche way like you said "Hey do do you want to talk about god?", but in thoughtful and intelligent way through media or my personal story.

I know we’ve never met, and I’m not religious by any means, but your story inspires me, man. I don’t believe in God specifically, but I believe in faith and I believe it’s important to have faith no matter what it may be or where it may come from. Faith is going to get you through the darkest days of your life. I’m happy for you that you found your faith my dude. Like I said, I know you literally have no idea who I am lol however I’m inspired by your positivity and I hope all is going well for you still, if not better than it was when you first wrote this.

This is amazing & something similar happened to me! I was a pagan & hated Christianity. I had a life changing experience & finally understood God is there, Christ was there all along. I was on the wrong path, although I still considered myself "good". The band For Today helped me through that transition a lot! Then I started looking for Christian metal & music has never made me so satisfied! I love Garrett's mind & how he pulls inspiration from so many places. I love all his citations & finding scripture in the lyrics. Thank you for sharing your story, it's so beautiful! I hope you & your loved ones stay safe & well! 🙏💖

@@0blivvy8 Wow! Thanks for commenting! I haven't seen that comment in a long time! You replied and I read it again. I'm almost 2 years sober now. I actually think I relapsed shortly after that comment was posted. Still listen to Silent Planet and I do listen to For Today. My walk has evolved and I am going to A Course in Miracles group now. Which I believe is what Jesus was really trying to teach b4 the church got ahold of his words. I also study I Am Ra The Law of One and Law of Attraction which has helped me tremendously on my journey. Aaron Abke is a guy on KZread that puts all that together in a way that I can understand and follow. He has playlists for The Course and The Law of One. Check it out sometime. The Course was a game changer for me tho for sure. Thanks again 😋✌ One Love 💚

@AllGTG lol still in recovery 😄 God has had me doing a lot of emotional healing lately and doing shadow work for like 2 months now. Life has been uncomfortable and intense lately in the best way. I know it's all for my highest good. Learning more about who I am and who God is. It's been a wild ride and tbh it sucks sometimes but God is giving me exactly what I've been asking for which is a deeper understanding of God and myself. A Course In Miracles has been helping me a lot during 2020 with forgiveness and what forgiveness truly is. It's been amazing cuz I'm beginning to see what Jesus was really saying and processing it through my heart and not my head. Pretty wild. Idk if you have checked out any ACIM material but it's beautiful and I feel gets to the true essence of who Jesus really was and what he was trying to teach us. Aaron Abke is a teacher on KZread that has some beautiful insights and teachings on ACIM, Law of One, and Law of Attraction. Def check him out. One Love 💚✌😋🙏🦋

Incredible story. I've met this fantastic guy, and seen SP live a number of times! Living such a privileged life, I never really thought about the global struggle for survival millions of other people go through. After I went on a church missions trip to Haiti this previous summer, it has seriously opened my eyes to so much more in the world.

Dylan Mortimer Depends on who you talk to. You can say I made it, but God was a major reason for how it was done. In the end it goes back to God creating the music and a God given skill. So it probably can go both ways. God is always the foundation for a Christian's beliefs. A gift. A blessing.. Etc..
