Same here. Nothing more boring than watching without a soundtrack. Stian, I hope you take notice and revert to your excellent standard.
Great video as always, Stian. Hope your laryngitis, or whatever is stopping you providing your usual excellent commentary, gets better quickly.😄
Thanks for the video, Stian. I'll add my vote to the contingent calling for a return to commentary, dad jokes and bad jokes. Your insight and warmth was one of the most valuable aspects of your videos.
Miss the commentary but it was still great to watch you bring back to life a nice looking vintage watch. Cheers
Hoping for a quick return to commentary. That is what makes the channel unique!
I miss the running commentary. I always learn something.
Like some other subscribers, I too enjoy the restoration of seemingly destroyed watches. Your skilful repairs are wonderful to see and the final result never disappoints. Look forward to hearing you again 😊
That dial!!!!! Wow, beautiful!
Unbelievable transformation, great skills and I enjoyed the repair work very much, missed your usual commentary and humour, but I never cease to be amazed at the skill required to work on these beautiful micro machines.
Stian, this work is stunning. What you did to rehab a roughly used 80-year-old watch to showroom new, and got it to perfect timekeeping, is a masterclass. 🇳🇴

Thanks for another captivating video. I miss your banter.
Very nice watch Stian! Beautifully restored as usual. I also prefer your insight full commentaries so I wish you a speedy recovery! 🤗
A truly astonishing restoration. The 'silent format' video with captions is an interesting break from the usual format, but I hope you do not make a habit of silent videos. I miss your knowledgeable, informative, and educational explanations of many of the more complex technical procedures that we non-watchmakers are not familiar with. Someday, perhaps, you could explain to us what "lift angle" is, what it means to a watchmaker, and how you determine what the lift angle is. Superb photography, as always.
It really warms my heart when something is given a second lease on life with soo much love and passion! Dankie en ta ta!
Nice renovation! We miss your commentary!
for me the star of the show was seeing the dial come life, absolutely beautiful
I like more with a voiceover ❤
Very nice video. Lovely interesting watch, super restoration. Missed your dulcet tones with some of the history and background. Still, the macho swinging of the powerful watchmaker's hammer in the action sequences was masterful.
This is a stunning turnaround, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the video, and for restoring a beautiful old watch!
Your work is undeniable but your commentary compliments your restorations wonderfully so I hope that makes a return. Great work as always. Cheers!
Respect. You really care about the work you do, it's wonderful to see such craftsmanship in this era of single use throwaway plastic
That's a lovely watch, Stian! I love watching you restoring the old clunkers into beautiful, elegant wrist watches again!
Absolutely stunning dial and beautiful end result. 😍 IMHO the 3,6,9 and 3,6,9,12 dials are the ultimate watches and, yes, I am prepared to die on this hill ! 🧐 The timegrapher at 1:22 had a jazzy beat I could dance too (not a pretty sight I can tell you) 🕺
Gorgeous restoration Stian!! Lovely watch!!
What a lovely timepiece Stian, and a beautiful restoration. It was not lost on us, how manly one would have to be to wheeled that hammer using the staking set, nor how teeny weeny those balance cock jewel plate screws were. Also was very impressed by the nose hair trim (bar one). Disappointed at no dad joke. So here is an old one to keep you going. Pirate walks into a bar with a ships wheel down his trousers, when the barman asks “what’s that all about “ he replies “I don’t know, but it’s driving me nuts. Hope you feel better soon Stian. M

😂 A dad pirate joke for good measure!
Great result looks fantastic. Get well soon Stian.
Beautiful outcome! That turned out wonderfully. Really brought out the beauty of that watch.
Really fine job Stian on restoring that piece to near perfect.. Looks great.. Thanks for the tour...!!
Barry White is still on holiday but luckily Stain was back at the bench. Lovely restoration and no trouble in paradise. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Many thanks for your kind and swift reply
Another watch brand I did not know about. What a beauty she is. Masterfully restored. Thanks you for a very enjoying video.
Bravo! What a change. Nice work.
Beautiful and nicely plated!
What a transformation…a joy to see.
Excellent work, Maestro!.
Always entertaining to watch a master at work. And what a dial-gorgeous!
Beautiful watch! Bravo!
Lovely to watch .... a favourite restoration ..
I would much rather have the commentary. It is a big part of the entertainment!
Amazing transformation!
Wonderful restoration! I'd love to own a watch you have restored like this.
Superb. Love all those cap jewels!
Awesome restoration, what a result!! Thank you for sharing! Talkies ar the best but silent ones can still be great, just look at that watch at the end, hat's off!
Outstanding!
Love watching a professional at work, but l also love your knowledge and (bad dad) jokes and your wit. Greetings from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 Have a great new year!!
Wow, Stian, what a miraculous transformation! Thanks for yet another exceptional video restoration. I genuinely missed your entertaining and informative commentary, though. Wishing for your speedy and complete recovery. 😁
Upload timed perfectly Stian, just poured a glass of red. Time to Sit back and enjoy!
Beautiful watch! That dial is gorgeous.
While I too miss your comments during the work,I think your work speaks volumes by it's self. Pigs ear to a silk purse as they say. Wonderful work, Wonderful skill, Wonderful Watch!! Thanks for what you do!!
That's one of the nicest looking watches I've ever seen. Outstanding job
it's allways better with your comments....amazing job
Its fantastic talent of doing like this, as a watchmaker, with complete modern tools thanks.
Thank you for sharing
Hello Stian, nice watch came out and good to have you back! Health!
With or without commentary always a good exploration of the watchmaker's craft. Best wishes.
Incredible work as always, particularly the repair you made to the balance wheel. But I missed your great commentary, so I hope it returns to your next video!

Thanks for watching! Sore throat issues, I'll upload the video will full commentary on Saturday :)
I really enjoy your videos. You are both skilled and knowledgeable and have inspired me to get into watchmaking as a hobby. I really prefer the voice-over videos though. You're very entertaining, I always laugh while I learn.
Wow, glad you didn’t bore us with any history! Lol and nice, a $10 watch saved by years of experience and thousands of euros worth of tools. Love the diversity of your work and the challenges you accept.
Actually, "Wehrmacht" means Defense Forces. "Heer" means Army.

You're absolutely right! I actually speak German quite well and know that, but I suppose a brain fart :)
Increíble, alucinante... Gran trabajo. Bellísimo reloj.
Anoter time peice lives to fight another day. I have to say, I much prefer your episodes with your commentary. It is just as entertaining (and informative) as the work. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to, Stian.
Beautiful watch, awesome repair
This Tanis watch has lived a tough life. I love the dial. I was surprised to see so much pitting and possibly rust on the movement. This watch will give someone years of enjoyment. Great job.
Excellent work.
Excellent restoration!
Who ever told you to stop talking needs to go somewhere else! Your videos are some of the best on KZread and your knowledge as well as personality are a big part of that. Sharing your knowledge about watches with occasional humor is magic.

That is a great find, and what an excellent end result!
Greetings! I also very much prefer your videos with narration. I find your comments on the watches you work on, and on the watch industry in general, to be amusing, informative, and insightful. You are an outstanding watch maker and I am definitely here for that, too, but I can go to a dozen other channels if I just want to see another keyless works disassembled. Your narration is an aspect of your videos that I very much look forward to--and the Dad jokes, too, of course.😉😆 Thanks, keep up the good work, and I hope you and yours have a wonderful 2023!
To bring such a watch back to life and beauty, outsiding! I enjoyed your vedio, I honestly wasn't sure it could be restored, fine job.
Brilliant result from not-so-good beginnings...
That's a handsome piece. Nice work
that watch is awesome‼️®™️ 🔥🔥
So nice to see you giving this pretty vintage watch a new lease on life! Great result.

As usual, another fantastic restoration but I really missed your commentary. Just not the same without it. Looking forward to another soon. Cheers!
Stunning restoration, yet again! I'm amazed by the case - I thought it was very worn chrome plate. 😅
Beautiful job
Love the look of that dial
Truly a beautiful result. I started out with more of an interest in restoration than watches but this is a gem! Though you know if you say "I make new ones" you have to show it, that's a rule from my mechanics! 😂
Wow. Repairs I’ve never seen before. Well done.
The sound of a master at work.
Wonderful restoration ❣️
Thats surprisingly nice watch and it performs well too.
Beautiful watch
wonderful work👍
Very cool, well done.
Beautiful job, I’d be proud to wear that
When you first showed the watch I looked upon it as a destroyed wreak that I would have looked twice at, after you finished it I loved it and would definitely have been proud to wear it, talk about ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan. You are a skilled magician. As with most of the other comments I look forward to hearing your commentaries again.
I really love that dial.
Incredible
*C’est tre magnifique!* *_ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL JOB and WATCH._*
Beautifully restored! Keep up the great work. Did miss the dad jokes, maybe next time.
Missed you talking about the watch and the corny jokes. 👍👍
so reaxing, sat watching with a coffee.
Very good master work
We need the chat back!! sweet watch as well 👌
Good work.
What a beautiful dial & jeez the steadiness of your hands on the balance work is of surgical proportions & soooo many capped jewels but what amazing results ,very classy looking piece. i have missed the stories & the odd humour tbf but at least you're still showing us the skills .
The work on balance wheel is impressive!
Thanks Stian. Missed your voiceover. Why are different lubricants used for the crown wheel and the square part of the stem?
@VintageWatchServices
Жыл бұрын
Sore throat issues, I'll upload the video will full commentary on Saturday :) There's more pressure between the sliding pinion and the winding pinion than there is on the stem, but you probably could use the same lubricant if you want to.
