    After talking with Fringe, here's the updates to the Dane (as of 6/8/24) 🔹UHMW on the J-cups now extends on all sides 🔹Weight stack guide rods have been upgraded as have the weight bushings 🔹Now comes with pegboard included w/rack (no longer an additional purchase) 🔹There are a few incremental upgrades as well. This list is not all inclusive (fixing the bolt head and nut sizes to be more consistent, additional pegs including with the pegboard, removing the Fringe Sport logo from the uprights so you can use the hole, etc)

And also why do most reviewers never review body solid and Xmark is it because they won't let the youtube reviewers review there equipment? Great video as always .

    I appreciate the budget options making gym equipment more available to the masses. To be honest, most of the top review guys are constantly drooling over the "top 3" brands: Rogue, REP, and Titan. While build quality and refinement are important, I can appreciate your enthusiasm about it, but it's also good to be realistic. The majority of the fitness community is out here DIY'ing attachments like leg press machines, cables, and storage to save money. I see many people falling into the trap of thinking they need NASA-level quality, machines that will last for five generations, and so on. Most companies, with very few exceptions, get the job done. I'm not saying you shouldn't point out perceived flaws, but sometimes it sounds a bit dramatic, like when you mention a machine being "not as smooth." I do appreciate you mentioning the cable length, especially for the 14% of the population over six feet tall. However, it's not the end of the world-a simple cable extension can fix that for a fraction of the cost.

  • @GlucksGym

    @GlucksGym

    Ай бұрын

    To be clear there's a clear issue with the cable system causing them to have resistance. It's something that should be and can be fixed. A cable system should be smooth regardless of price. I've used a ton of these systems including cheaper ones without this issue. I've even seen some coming from the same fan ctory (Vesta) and it's the same issue. It's a product of the cable thickness and pulley diameters (there's 3 different diameters being used here). Wynie thought I was too generous with this one and not critical enough. It's a review and these things cost a lot. We should be critical as reviewers so people know what they're getting. I leave the sales pitches to the companies selling this stuff.

  • @BasilNaaar

    @BasilNaaar

    Ай бұрын

    @@GlucksGym That's fair. It's also a funny coincidence you mention Vesta-I bought their Smith Machine SM2001 six months ago. While I only have commercial gym experience with cable systems, not with Rogue and other brands, it felt pretty good to me. However, I understand that you try dozens of these machines and equipment and for good reason have a more informed opinion. Again, I appreciate the videos and reviews. I'm always trying to bring my friends and family down to earth when it comes to gym equipment. Some people feel like if they aren't using Rogue water bottles and stickers, their gains aren't coming. And with they economy, sometimes, that $1,000 you save, can help you finish building your home gym.

    Very true. People get hooked on brands and develop a loyalty or whatever and it's hard to convince them otherwise. I love Fringe and they've already changed quite a few things I talked to them about on this but I thought for $2500 there were some over sights I thought people should know about.

    Solid review!! Love the details about some of the cons I didn't see in the "other" guy's video 😉. The lack of a pin slot for the first plate would drive me nuts, and I think a 2:1 ratio plus some plate pins and heavier stack is just a better option since you get the extra cable travel, smoothness, and can still load heavy for pulldowns and rows (so long as the cable itself is also rated to handle heavy weights). I think you should definitely check out the MAXUM Fitness SX2 next, honestly seems like one of the best options I've been able to find with some really interesting and unique features! On paper seems to beat even premium options like Rep Ares/Athena especially for value with all the features and attachments that the MAXUM includes.

    I like the 1:1 ratio, sure it isn't as smooth as other options, but you're getting more weight you paid for to workout with. It would be like me selling a 45-lbs plate, but only allowing you to lift 22.5 pounds of it. Plus, this will work with any rack that is 3" x 3" with 1" holes so a person could choose to make their own Frankenstein power cage with elements from many different companies, which I love. I am sure that something might be better, but I hardly doubt the bigger companies can come even close to that price point. I am curious which other outfits will follow suit and make more improvements.

    @@GlucksGym look at the bright side for having kids, cheap labor for equipment setup. I bet you could do a video just on tips/tricks on how to assemble a rack, cable machine, etc. Definitely interested in the Halo Arms. Griffin 2.0 has articulating arms but with a lot fewer pin hole settings and you can't lock out the arms laterally. If you get a chance to review the Halos would be helpful if you think they're worth keeping on the rack full time, especially if you've got a cable system such as the Ares 2.0 in place and how that would work.

    Hey Gluck, question for you. I don't see any reviews on Fringe's Osprey Power Cage, but you mentioned the Dane is based on the Osprey. How would you compare the Osprey Rack to the Rep PR-4000? I'm just looking to get a power rack and the Fringe is a lot cheaper in price. Would you recommend it over the PR-4000? They seem very similar on paper from a build perspective. Thanks!

  • @GlucksGym

    @GlucksGym

    22 күн бұрын

    The Osprey is the base rack for the Dane. It's literally the same rack. The Dane is the functional trainer add on, the Osprey is the rack. The Osprey is a 3x3 1" rack so it's technically more like the PR 5000 (3x3 1") rather than the 4000 (3x3 5/8"). Anyway. If you're just comparing uprights, bolts, and crossmembers they're incredibly similar. Near identical quality. Rep has better (and more expensive attachments) but they're swappable between the two as their dims are identical and they're both imported. So use our link and buy whichever you want 😉

    I would love to know what the reason is for it not being as smooth as Dialed Motion or Rep’s cable systems. I’ve used a few home gym cable systems and experienced exactly what you said in the video. A tiny bit of resistance in the cable. Thought it was so cool you mentioned this! Wish someone could dig deep and find out what the true cause is: Pulley bearings, cable/coating thickness, bushing type, alignment/tolerancing, design, etc.

  • @GlucksGym

    @GlucksGym

    I believe the primary culprit is the thickness of the cables and the pulley diameters. They're using three different diameter pulleys. This is essentially a rebranded machine and the others suffer from the same thing.

    Can you review the option to swap out the Dane for a Rogue Functional Trainer? 😂 Kidding aside, Fringe Sport has the best customer service I’ve encountered. I’m slowly adding their stuff to my previously all Rogue line up because of a great first impression.

    Honestly, yes. Rep has worse build quality than Rogue and is close enough to the same price now that you literally have to prefer their “features.” This is an actual budget pick. $2500 for everything you get here is a really solid deal.

    Solid overview. I keep wondering how awkward the plate storage is inside the rack. Seems like it would be a huge pia to grab plates from inside with a barbell on the hooks?

  • @GlucksGym

    Correct. You can put weight horns on it too but with any of these that block the sides it's always a bit awkward to get in/out. Like for a spotter for example.

    no wonder his views have gone down he's just trying to be negative to get views but his complaints make no sense it's too heavy for my wife with the weight of the pin well then just do the pin no weights.

    They weight stack starts at 15lbs. It is impossible to start at a lower weight because the pin (which we show) is a part of the first plate. I appreciate the watch though. Our views have never been higher 😁

    @@GlucksGym i don't understand just do the cable no weight it's really hard complaint to justify sounds like you really had reach for that one... sounds like you can't take criticism but you like to give it even if it's a stretch the weight starts at 15lbs so sad.lol

    If you can save up I would go with an Athena. I'm sure Fringe will improve this but it's not on that level.
