Monaco isn't for the audience. It's's about the technical challenge for the drivers. When one accepts that Monaco isn't about your entertainment, then one can accept that it has a place on the calendar.

Wait, whut? If it’s for the drivers, then just do it on a random Wednesday and don’t bother bringing th cameras. Then maybe that Sunday you could bring the cars to a decent racetrack where they could race or something

The real reason we went back to Imola was COVID and trying to squeeze in as many races as possible. Imola still has its grade 1 so it was added to the calendar. It was kept due to its heritage, unlike Mugello or Portimao.

The way some people say there’s not good racing at Monaco. Good racing is not just about overtakes, especially if they are drs induced. Good racing is also taking turns to the limit, strategy, know when to push. You get all that in Monaco.

I hear this time and time again that engine customer teams get old components, which is so wrong. The customer team must have the same spec as the manufacturer or earlier. This year it is not possible to run last years engine because of the required fuel update. The only disadvantage a customer team has is the lack of planning and foreknowledge of upcoming developments/improvements. Which again this season is not much of an issue because of the PU freeze. The customer may just end up caught out by obtaining a new engine because of the need to replace a damaged one just before an update is brought out by the manufacturer. But in most cases the customer teams are aware of developments because they are required to assume the burden/ cost of R&D to ensure proper fitment given said changes.

Nooooo! F1 should come back to Watkins Glen! I used to go (only about an hour from me) in the early 80's and the biggest problem they had at the time was that the race was held in early October which was generally going to be cool weather and often would be rainy.

I'd be happy if Monaco was purely used as a showcase event at the start or end of the season to show off new tech or something like that. I think it's a stupid place to hold an actual race with modern cars

Her opinions on racing are on point, great insight! Monaco sucks, Imola sucks. F1 cars should reflect the tracks they race on, smaller, lighter weight: by reducing the mandatory sizes of the low energy density hybrid batteries, removing the MGUH and MGUK. More engine freedom design: only restriction is 1.6L liter size. Turbo and supercharger design is up to the engine manufacturer, cylinder configuration free choice. Ferarri 1.6L V10 Supercharger, Red Bull Honda Porsche 1.6L V6 Twin Turbo, Mercedes 1.6L I6 Twincharger, Renault 1.6L V8 NA.

Ahhhh Monaco, that track from the early 1900's. That certainly has held a race every year.

So we're just not gonna mention that Stuart has said multiple times that teams have to be below 80 mil but the team she picked is currently worth 90 mil?

Stuart thought the game would force your team to be below 80 mil if you swap stuff around. But with most fantasy games, if you manage to do well than you get the benefit of carying that money over. So if he wants to do hard mode than he will need to manually make sure that they dont spend more than 80

21:50 as an F1 fan on the American west coast, the races I can watch live are Canada, Miami, Las Vegas, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and if I stay up really late, Singapore. Otherwise, all of the races including the middle eastern ones are so early in the day that it's just unreasonable. I would love a race on the west coast personally because while people complain that America has too many races, I can watch only a handful live because America is bigger than people think.

That's what DVRs are for. I watch every race without getting up early, just have to make sure to avoid looking at the news before watching the race, to avoid spoilers.

@@jayt8784 Yes, but a DVR is increasingly uncommon in a world of streaming services. And spoilers are hard to avoid with social media. A DVR is an incredibly outdated solution. Plus, having a race on the west coast will be really interesting because I'm not sure if anyone realizes in Europe that on the west coast, racing mostly an eastern US thing. Most of the notable circuits are further east.

I'd reccomend using it at either Austria or Brazil, later in the season and sprint race = more predictable and more available points

Clearly the issue is that the news and table suggests Mercedes is doing a lot better than they really are so based on the table etc the predictions seem right. Time will tell

Respectfully disagree with your takes about Imola and Monaco, not every race needs to always be 350% exciting in obvious ways like overtakes. The calendar needs to be a diverse challenge with all sorts of different tracks and losing tracks that are difficult to pass on forsake those different tracks for straight entertainment and for that you might as well watch Nascar

You can’t overtake on these cars in Monaco. Some years ago, Ricciardo lost 25% of its power at the beginning of the race and nobody overtook him. That’s pretty bad.

The problem with Monaco is that, during the race, the track doesn't measure the drivers' skills against each other at all (ie no overtaking possible). So you're losing a big, important chunk of "motor racing". I agree that we need different challanges, but we shouldn't sacrifice the namesake of the sport for it. (Also, if it wasn't a historically significant venue, probably nobody would care about Monaco in the "different kind of challange" way either. It'd also be a different challange to see who can slalom around cones the fastest, and nobody wants to see that.)

Not at all.. He costs pretty much the same as Verstappen but is in a much slower car. If you really wanted to do the reliability thing then you should pick Russell since he’s much cheaper and pretty even with Hamilton.

My God, I'm not even close a Max fan myself, but she is far from being an "F1 expert" worthy to be a writer. Sorry, but I would advise choosing your guests better. She doesn't know F1 that well. She claimed that if a customer team uses a (for instance) Ferrari engine then they get last years model, not what the main team is using. This hasn't been true in F1 for a long time now, in fact the FIA specify that customer and manufacturer team 'engines' have to be identical in spec and power output.
