+vaibhav patil I think to differentiate between the generic word 'friends' and the show name. So when you say friends, you mean dost but when you say F.R.I.E.N.D.S you are referring to the show.

Can you imagine todays actor on a show saying "no one gets more money than others, we are a team!" ? That's one of the many things I love about the show - the cast. They really sticked together for ten years. That means so much to me, altough I don't know any of these people, but it really feels like I do. Thanks for the memories, guys!

This is so interesting to find out! I feel this helped seal the chemistry the group and in effect quality of comedy/show. The writers and the chemistry between these people is what made this show incredible. What a great group of people. I feel the same! Such great memories! hahah

During the first season of the show the main cast were paid $22,500 per episode, but during the second season, only Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer were given a pay raise, to $40,000 an episode. For the third season and onward, the cast decided to conduct all salary negotiations in unison to ensure equal pay, an unusual practice at the time. By the final two seasons the main cast were making $1 million per episode. Lisa Kudrow, who according to an Entertainment Weekly profile was "the group leader", stated, "The six of us are far stronger than just one person."

Part of the reason why they could act as one was because they really were an ensemble. I can't think of any show where there wasn't a series lead--Raymond, Fresh Prince, Frazier, Cheers has Sam, Seinfeld, etc. The writers really gave each character a full life, though some romantic relationships did seem to be a bigger deal. Friends is so special because the chemistry of the actors was like the perfect lab experiment-take one out or give it less juice and the show collapses.

In season one of Friends, due to the enormous popularity of Rachel & Ross' relationship that began to grow as the season went on, their salary was higher than everyone else in the next season. It was eventually Jennifer Aniston who went up to Courteney to compare their salary and said they should all get equal pay. NBC and WB agreed on their terms, including that they would all receive the lowest amount of an actor, which meant $22.500 per episode. So both David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston took a $17.500 cut in their pay per episode. Demonstrating their serious effort to commit to the show and their co-stars as much as possible. Then after the end of season two, with the enormous success behind them, including getting great offers for movie roles, it was David Schwimmer who said they all should bond and renegotiate together for a higher wage that they did deserve. After all, it was their friendship and talent that made the show into a such a huge success. Of course NBC and WB agreed, since Friends was No. 2/3 in the weekly ratings. So beginning in season three, they all had a salary of $75k per episode and it would eventually steadily increase with each season. Culminating with the $1 Million per episode in season nine and ten.

Great work David schwimmer. He doesn't get enough credit for initiating the equal pay for everyone thing. You gotta be a very good person to do something like that in a scenario where you are the highest paid

You shouldn't forget the role of Jennifer in it too. Due to the success of the romance of Rachel and Ross in season one, they got the biggest salary, and in season two. However, it was Jennifer who suggested that all actors should get equal pay, no matter what. Happening after she was comparing her salary to Courteney and seeing she was paid less. Feeling and thinking a different salary would lead to jealousy and arrogance perhaps. Not wanting to threaten the unity and chemistry, they all went, including David for equal pay. It was in season two however, after David had his major role in Band of Brothers etc., he suggested that they all should get a higher pay, so they all went in it together. His mother is an attorney, so that did help.

Agreed but his parents are, both, famous lawyers, so he learned well, from them! They’re all awesome and really love each other, and I don’t think there’s ever been a cast as astounding on the screen with such great love for each other, off screen, as well. This is how the workplace should operate! I was so blessed to have a job like that, and we are all still really good friends, today, but more than that, we are family forever, 30 years later! 💜🎁🥰☀️🌈

Friends was and will always be the greatest TV show ever created! I cried my eyes out.

In 2018 Courteney Cox have normal face. She said that it was an unsuccessful operation, but now she is glad that she has come into shape and regained her appearance.

It was the best show.. its has become a part of my life.. i really cried out at the last episode for two days.. n just hv never watched the last season again..!! Miss the amazing FRIENDS

"Giant heart with head and feet" :) That was so sweet :) I watched every single episode many times and I still love it. That would be great if they could make a movie. Friends 10 years later.

I'm here May 6th, 2020. Yesterday, a reunion was supposed to air, but it's postponed due to coronavirus concerns. Today, at 8pm, I will be watching the last episode, same as people did when it aired. Edit: Filming due to start March 2021. Even though I won't be able to see it when it comes out (because it's on HBO Max and we don't have that in England, friends is still in Netflix here), I'm happy for the American fans who get to see it :D hope it's good!

Dear Class, Courteney Cox was in such great form here in this video, she's a Classic. She has a bubbly yet keen sense of humor and a good outlook on life, lol. It's great to see the Cast in such great form out here man, it cheers all of us up. During some of my travels I found a bus stop bench with a Courteney Cox photo on it in an Ad..and someone had put dirt purposely on her Classy face, so I bought a bottle of water and worked for a bit there, in the Austin, Texas area or possibly in the Los Angeles, California area, to get her beautiful face clean, lol. I was pissed, what a vicious move dirt on her Classic good funny face, it just wasn't right. I went back and cleaned it several times, lol. I felt better afterwards, lol..The true story of our life, Class. Good things that never change.

I wish I could not cry by watching these interviews but I can't, just can't.

Now I fully understand why Lisa Kudrow seem so down whenever asked "Do you and Jennifer still see each other?" The answer was simple : "No...no, it's been so long this I saw her." Tough break for 3best friends but that's how life goes, saddly.

At summer my family gets together and we watch all of the seasons from start to the end. On the night I was born my parents were watching friends so that could be why I ike the show. I'll miss the show :(

2:00 The reason why friends is so loved and is so loved even til this day, eventhough some things they say or/and talk about are outdated, the show is timeless and always have a theme and undertone that resonates with almost every age group of people. When I was a teen, I looked up to the and was like "I hope my life will become like this and have this good friends and fun". When I was in the same age it became "Hah! That's me!" and now when I basically have surpassed then (allthough not by much) it is more a fun way of looking back at life. Another thing is also that the show always brings up real life issues that they - and also we irl - have to deal with. Friends is a perfect balance between reflecting real life yet brining in that comedic touch to certain situations but knowing when to stay serious when something actually serious is heppening - something most other shows fail to do. So even if the 90's might be a complete alien setting for most new comers, the different phases of life and their problems will always be relatable to everyone watching the show. That is why it is successful and why it will be staying here for a long long time still.

awesome show still remains one of the best to this day. in the pilot episode its already a café but in the early episodes of season 1 it was a bar

The saddest part of the last episode 4 me was the fact that everyone was married or in a serious relationship except from joey and that's heart breaking because again 4 me joey was the reason friends was what is was

They did only one thing wrong with the last episode and that was the very ending when they are going down to the café for one last time, and we see them go down the hallway to the stairs; after that it just cuts to random shots of new york city with the names showing and music playing. What they should have done instead would have been to show them all sit down together that one final time inside the coffey shop with the music playing, have them say good bye to Gunther and then have the camera film from outside through the window and you just see them laugh and have fun together. And then camera slowly zooms out and pans away and then you can start showing random skylines. I just always hate it that we leave them in the staircase. Then it would be even better if they had either showed some highlights from the ten years, or just the best bloopers.

i dont understand the pilot ep, when monica is introducing rachel to the group she says: this everybody, that's phoebe, chandler, joey and u remember my brother ross. but didn't rachel already know chandler, she met chandler when she met ross right, in tow all the thanksgivings they show monica rachel ross and chandler in monica and ross' house right?

You're right. When they got into all the Ross/Rachel stuff they decided to create a back story about Monica being fat and as Monica and Rachel were already friends they decided to show that Ross liked Rachel even when they were in high school, which was a big mistake where they forgot to go back and look at the pilot to see who already knew whom. Sitcoms often end up having revisionist history. Remember that in Happy Days Richie had an older brother who simply vanished for the rest of the series.

***** You're mixing up episodes here, the back story where Chandler kissed Rachel at the college party is real, in "The One Where the Stripper Cries". You're thinking of the episode "The One Where It Could Have Been" which is all fake.

I don't understand why people are trying to explain this lol.... Google it, there are A LOT of things that are screwy in the Friends universe. Here's is just one tiny example (of many)... in the show Ross has 3 different birth dates. You might first find that people say he has 2... but there is an episode where it's Oct. 20th (in the show) and Ross says his bday was 7 months earlier. But then there is another episode where his bday is Oct. 18th and another episode where his bday is in December. Ok, one more example... the apartment number (on the main apartment) changes. There are a lot of things... and Monica introducing Rachel to Chandler is just one of them. Simple as that. People need to stop trying to explain it. It's just a mistake in the shows story line.

You have to give concessions to TV shows. Especially pilots when shows establish relationships throughout the length of shows. BESIDES, TV is about letting go of reality and delving into an alternate universe for a half an hour or an hour at a time, not for nitpicking. If you want to nitpick, pick up a textbook (or some other fact-based book or show). Fiction is for fun.

Fun facts: 1)Every studio in LA doesn't have a stage 13 including WB because the guys who started this back in the 20's were superstitous Jews. 2) Central Perk is now a gift shop. 3) The sets, props and costumes are stored in an airplane hangar in Burbank that's not labeled. I used to work security for WB for a couple of yrs. That goes for all the movies, too (Casablanca, Streetcar Named Desire, etc.

yeah, that's how popular FREINDS is and how much money they are making on the show. They are always on the Top 10 shows of America. I heard the rumors that once a show have the same timeslot as Friends, no one almost watches that specific show.
