This sure brings back memories. Growing up in Canada in the 70s. This and Mr Dress Up were on daily.

I still tear up when friendly says goodbye. Guess he was the ONE friendly sole that was part of my miserable childhood

We didn't have a colour TV yet, my memories of this show in Canada were entirely in black and white.

My dad used to watch this when he was little and he told me about this show...I loved it so much I learned how to play the songs on the recorder! I’m so upset I wasn’t born in this generation.

The Friendly Giant is the best TV show ever. I've talked to dozens of harpists across Canada and they all tell me the same thing... that Early One Morning is always their most-requested song. And that's simply because, for kids from 9 to 90, it's "The Friendly Giant Song."

This was the show that inspired me to be a harpist. Not this particular episode, I remember it from its black and white incarnation from the 60s, but it was good ol' Rusty with his miniature gold harp that impressed itself on my 5 year old brain

i was lucky to grow up in the Detroit area. Watching this makes me remember how great the 60s were to be a kid.

I just watched a rooster, in a sack hung on the wall, play the harp. I never thought I'd write that. Ever.

R.I.P. Bob Homme (1919-2000) And Rod Coneybeare (1930-2019)

When Jerome dances, it fills me with joy.

How could anyone dislike Friendly Giant! My love for classical music began here!

Who would ever give this show a thumbs down?!? Like, really? Friendly Giant and Mr Dressup were awesome.

The Friendly Giant was and is an icon...one of the only CBC shows ever worth watching. Bring the original show back...we need it now more than ever.

In fact this brings me to tears of a better time.

I loved the miniature town they had on this show.

The ending is so incredibly sad... it like those old days when you were having such a good time you didn't want to leave, and you would cry when you had to go.

Loved watching this as a child every morning.

Great show for kids. This is what they need to see more of. Real people making real facial expressions and gestures and having conversations. Not all the digitally animated crap they put out there these days.

We were still connected to our past then. There were still wholesome influences.

I like "The Friendly Giant"we used to watch it here from Niagara Falls,NY it's a shame they don't make programs lie this anymore.

How many shows for kids exposes them to such wonderful classical pieces...answer-none!

Funny how there was too much snow for Angie and Fiddle, yet Gerome had no trouble break dancing outside the window.

I had forgotten that they could change the seasons on the way to Friendly's castle! Love the snowplow clearing the road. Rusty played the harp; I had completely forgotten...Jerome was such a character...great, beautiful music...where are today's shows like this? Ones that appeal to all ages, have cozy live-action, never talk down to the kids, and make everyone feel that there's still beauty, fun, gentleness, and security in the world. Perhaps a second or third wave of children's TV will come to succeed Friendly, Mssrs. Rogers and Dressup, Frightenstein, et.al.

Fun fact, our giant, Bob Homme is actually a fairly talented Jazz musician. He and his combo would often do the music for these sort of episodes.

Thanks so much for uploading this!. Years ago I wrote to the CBC asking them to release "Friendly Giant" to DVD so I could show my daughter. Never heard back. Too busy cutting programming and jobs, i suppose. Nice to see this again after all these years. Thanks again!!

In what turned out to be the final episode, Gerome became insanely angry and ate Rusty. After that, they couldn't get insurance coverage and shut down.

I MISS THAT SHOW...UNLIKE THE TECHNOCRATIC MODERN CRAP WE HAVE TODAY..😔😑😑
