It doesn't matter how many amazing guitar tones I hear and fall in love with...I think I'll always come back to a Strat's neck pickup.
2 years of watching Captin lee and Chappers. I am happy as hell that I found you two. You both make video hunting and product review fun. Thank you very much.
Just came back to say that the editing on these videos has gotten SO GOOD. Hilarious and a pleasure to watch!! Merry christmas y'all
Some righteous playing from both at the beginning-enjoyed that very much!
Love everything you do Rob and Lee, true champions!!
I just got a Runt 20 with matching cab yesterday, it is indeed a quite splendid amplifier 😃
Chappers your videos have helped me to pick up a guitar for the first time in 5 years I can't wait to buy my own you guys rock \m/
i love these two. they do the best reviews and with style.
Friedman Runt 50 clean channel with pedals .... especially be 100 pedal ... demo .... now .... mind blowing .... yes .... thank you in advance. Cheers to the New Years!
Such amazing amps. Just picked one up last night and was blown away when I put a fuzzface in front of it.
Le Coq Sportif! I've owned a Runt 20 combo and have gigged it for the last few months and it really is awesome!
I have the PT -20....when over driven, these amps you hear every note (chords)....awesome color and tone!

The BE-OD pedal does that too. Very defined, even with high gain. I bet you are loving the PT-20, T Dodak. May you enjoy it for a long time \m/

Yes, thank you!
I own the Runt 20 head and 1x12 cab. It is by far my favorite amp I've ever owned in 30 years of playing. I haven't found a sound I can't get out of it, even up to pretty chunky metal rhythms. I totally get what Rob is saying about the overdrive feeling "real". There isn't that over compressed, almost-plays-itself kind of thing you get from some other amps. You've got to earn the tone with the Runt, and I feel like it's made me a better player.
I have to say that is probably the best sounding amp DI I've ever heard. Now I need one!!
@draper858

I use the DI every show we play where we provide production, it is good sounding.
Love your videos guys, do not change a thing..All the best from Australia..
some of the best tones I've heard
Jezz guys that intro was something else lol like both playing something different, good review... Anyway!
Great jam at the end!
That Keith Urban reference at the end made me smile, Anderton's should do a sound like video next year!, fantastic guitar player and would be cool to see some Country artists get referenced on the channel! :)
This whole time Ive been only looking at Mesa, Marshall, and Randall for a good metal amp head...I cant believe Ive been overlooking Friedman, so far every video Ive watched on almost every model Ive been blown away at how good they sound. Defintley getting a Friedman.
when I first started guitar I thought friedman was some megadeath Marty Friedman tribute amp

Wow! That sounds amazing!
Friedmans are great. I own a Friedman BE-OD pedal and I use it to boost my Fender Bassbreaker, Bluesbreaker, and Peavey Classic 30 combo. I run the amps clean as a bell and the pedal has all the great, toneful gain I'd ever need right on tap. I'll eventually get a 20 Watt Friedman combo with channel switching. Great amps. I'd buy one over a Boogie any day, and I can afford any amp I want.
The Runt sounds fantastic. I've just bought a Friedman Mini Dirty Shirley from Andertons and it is an incredible sounding amp. The Runt is definitely tickling my G.A.S.

Tone Hounds to me,the most GAS tickling amp right now is the Mesa Triple Crown
Rob's got a playing style where no matter what he plugs into he just sounds like Rob. Rock on man!
Hell of a jam at the end!
I have the Friedman BEOD pedal. Can't afford the amps...but running that pedal through a vox ac51C1 and lemme tell you the sound is amazing!! Will be saving for a Friedman amp soon..worth the money for sure!!!
LOL you guys always cheer me up :)
Goddammit! Every damn time! I have to leave for work and you guys and That Pedal Show post new videos at the same time. Well, better call in to say I'll be late.

Holy shit! I thought you were playing an old 80s Squier Bullet for a second, Rob! Love my Korean-built Bullet!
Holy shit, Lee. That's epic good playing! We always see Rob shredding, you normally keep to yourself.
That guitar solo Rob did at the end was siiiiick!!!
Awesome vid guys ! as usual !
I own the rint 50 through my 80s 1960a 4x12 marshall w/75watt celestions. I'm telling you this thing is outstanding!

Is it super high gain? I'm considering one. The price doesn't seem bad.
Those Friedman amp heads, along with the Victory amp heads and Randall amp heads are my favourite types of amps (not to say Hiwatts and 60s Leslie amps, which I consider legendary). Friedman and Victory I only know watching youtube (like the myth of the cave). I have played through borrowed Randall, Marshalls, Fenders and Giannini (the later, only solid state, 70s borrowed). Ok... some Staners too (another local brand amp here). Giannini made some powerful valve amps (which are legendary here, but I've never seen one close enough). Staner... only solid state stuff (I guess, but it seems "Fendery" solid state... Giannini sounds and feels more like Vox and sometimes Hiwatt, comparing to recordings). I think I may have used on stage a Roland Jazz Chorus (also borrowed, chosen by county staff production, school band stuff, around 1997) when I didn't know what it was. I already had the Rotovibe pedal at that time. It was like... climb the stage, mount my 25 pounds keyboard quickly (it was a General Music WX2), play 2 or 3 songs with our band and then quickly unmount gear so that the next band could climb the truck stage and use the same amps. (look and feel: scooby doo, american graffiti, cartoon school band) At that time, I didn't have access to valve amps. As soon as I tried the first valve amps, things started to sound a little closer to what I hear from recordings, when played through valve equipment. In the next band I played, the stage was a blues pub and the guitarist had a Fender blackface type amp. Around 70 to 75 songs had to be known for the entire night. Rehearsal hard work. Nearly half of what I know about guitar playing I have learnt observing him. One thing he taught me by speaking: pre-bending notes, pitch down. (but prior to that I used to map the fretboard musical notes with my eyes, sort of scanning). Cheers!!! Luke P.S.: curiosity reference: father Landell de Moura (from the city where I live). A "pre-historical" amp inventor.
4:59 THE BEST SOUND ROB HAS EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think i have found my dream strat its beautiful :D good videos guys :D
Love the amp knobs on the Friedman Tele!
Just ordered my Runt 50W head from Andertons so happy now!
Holy hell, I just finished watching the Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 demo before this, and Rob tells the exact same story about the Haggis, in the exact same way.
i link for the amp n now i want this strat... sounds so amazing man!
If I were ever closer to spending nearly 3k on a tiny amp, the Friedman would be it...and might well be this week! Amazing sound.
I want a Friedman so bad. They sound so good!

ITS WONDERFUL " wonderful time of the year"
Feelful playing, funny editing, and the laying of a (the) Captain. First 6 minutes made my day :) Ps: I now eggspect (see what I did there?) facepaint coming easter.

Gain at 10.5 and the 20 rocks. My oh my its lovely. And the xlr cab sim is just brilliant. The only amp to have in your house or apartment. At low volume it still sounds great. 5 stars the Runt 20. Worth every cent.
I really love that T-type Friedman. If only it wasn't more than what I make in a year.

I do love Christmas with Rob and the Captain!
Nice opening Jam! Keep the jams in, mo chappers mo captain.
I really love the editing lol
Printed circuit boards aren't bad they're just a bit more of a pain for maintenance, particularly if there are a lot of features crammed into the amp. It just makes it a bit more difficult to work on.
@NegativeBodhiImage

Fuck yeah…. have you ever tried to replace an input soldered to a pcb board- fucking takes 5 times longer.. on a non pcb 7 minutes or less incl removing the chassis from the housing and heating up the soldering iron.
This amp does the 2000s pop punk/alternative rock sound perfectly. Throw a pedal/od in front and you're on your way to crushing marshall metal tones. The XLR out is so handy for recording too!
Owned my Runt 50 for a little while now and loving it! Thanks in part to this vid, so thank you very much guys for all the details! Correction for @andertons, the Runt 50 has 2 EL34, not 4 for both combo or head just a little detail for the interested. Cheers! \m/

I have a 40 watt dirty Shirley, I’ve had it for 3 years I’ve never owned an amp that sounds as good as Friedman you can get any rock sound out there now and 2 is loud as you need to play it on a gig , they are unbelievable!!

Just ordered a Runt 50! Can’t wait.
"I shall turkey back up for the final jam." …Oh, Captain, my Captain… ya'll are such good fun
this one sounds... brilliant
Rob, pls do a cover of Stone Free. I heard you playing a few riffs from it in this video, and you killed it! 🤘👍✌️️👊
So great looking and sounding amps as these Friedmans are begs the question.. do these amps make the Fender Bassbreaker series look like the most ridiculously amazing value for money valve amps on the market… I seem to remember Chappers getting even more excited about those….
Sounds Fabulous..
Since Andertons started selling Friedman I am depressed every time I watch a video. I will never afford that beautiful, beautiful sound!
I didn't even know I was disappointed about the lack of a turkey hat until after he put it on. Instant gratification.
holy crap Robs guitar doesn't look relic, it looks more like it was run over by a car

that is one beat up guitar... it looks so good!
Love the frankinstortion!
The editing guy needs a fucking medal, like seriously.
'Oh Mother' at 17.01 says it all!!! Cheers
Hey Rob! I love your videos, I was just wondering what amp (and guitar) you recorded your intro that's in all the videos?
great show guys! can you comment on the volume ability of the 20? I'm just wondering if it can keep up with drums and bass on stage.
you guys should do a challenge where you have to pick a guitar, amp, leads, pedals ect. And pick different brands, then leave them in the boxes and have a race to see who can setup their rig first and play along in tune and volume with a drummer
@rcaction9358

^^^^^^^you would see who can get them out of boxes the fastest^^^^^
Best amp with cab sim shootout??? Runt vs Mesa vs Bassbreaker vs etc? There are lots of guitarists out there that need a good direct signal!
Lmao 12:05.. Rob's face when Lee played after engaging the boost pedal. Metal hands just had to go up !! Rock on Rob and Lee \m/

Same. So much atmosphere and spaciousness. I re-watched it just last year and had a serious nostalgia trip. I also forgot how Charles (and his infernal 'harhar, what!') and 'Chubby' Joe reminded me of Steve Davis and John Parrott.

Rob Chapman hello Rob may I ask why do u have a fender telecaster neck on your stratocaster
Informative and funny. My preference would be to lose the reverb for the demo, or at least more A/B with and without. Not a complaint really, just like to hear the amp dry.
I want everything in this video. Both amps and both guitars. No need for pedals with these amazing amps. If only I had extra cash
Sooooo any chance of doing the friedman pt20 and dirty Shirley mini? A comparison / shootout would be awesome. Coz no one does vids as in depth as yours ;)
These sound 🔊 awesome
I own a dirty Shirley and a Pink Taco. I plugged in a Runt 20 and lasted 5 minutes, it was ratty and had a hard upper midrange at I hated. I know lots of people love the Runt series but it does have its detractors
North of £1300 for a combo :O wow...I bet it's probably worth every penny, but shit that's expensive
6:17 "4 EL34s" that would make it 100W!...more like "2".
Its the MOST WONDERFUL time of the year...
Liked at the turkey hat.
At this day and age you should shoot for combining the classic rock Marshall tone but also. be able to do modern hi gain great imo. This is where Friedman is missing the boat especially at their asking price. I'll admit it though, their modded Marshall tone is beautiful as well as nice cleans.
monster tones for a monster price.
That high-pitched "gobble" cracked me up so much that I had to pause watching.
I have a question guys. If I crank the master volume or turn up quite high, will I get more power tube tone and start getting power tube distortion with these amps, or will it just simply make them louder and nothing else? I absolutely love the tone and response of cranking a Marshall tube amp even with a master volume, but I wonder if these amps are designed in a way where I can still get the power tube magic too.
Nice!
Lovely hat captain! Hahaha
Is that a brown chicken or a red headed vulture? The Friedman Amps are great. Out of my price range but maybe when some come available on the used market. Love the Runt 20.
trying to decide this or Friedman Runt 20. This seems to have more of the mids I like
"It's like a tonal chameleon" Oh Chappers, how I love thee
Blues On , My Captain Lee oh Captain.... Hi Rob.
I thought Rob's hat said Bam-bukah at first. Would have been even better!
Would be cool to do an ultimate beginner rig for each genre
