    best comparison video I've seen for any pedals, cause you play ACTUAL CHORDS, not just solo show off stuff, which doesn't demonstrate tone and texture. the be-od is more aggressive, brutal and forceful. the dirty shirley doesn't have that brutal backbone the be-od has. that said, the shirley sounds more versatile, and still gets great tone. ALSO the be-od sounds like a real metal pedal, meaning it wouldn't be used low gain. the shirley sounds like it would still sound good with lower levels of gain. so one is really just for heavy music (the be-od), and one is for everything else (dirty shirley). though I think the shirley would work in heavy music, as someone else said, the levels of gain they are different by aren't really usable anyway, especially for recording

    Great video!!! I own both pedals and love them, great tools. I also own the THR 100H and I would like to know the settings you used for this video. Sounds awesome, with a great bottom end. It looks like you are using the solid preamp model? I have never tried that model to use it as a pedal platform... normally I use the clean channel... Thanks!!!

    Juan Fernández So sorry man, I cant remember the settings..!! I tend to just play by ear with this amp...i just listen and tweak as i go... The "Clean" mode tends to break up like a traditional tube amp would; the "Solid" mode wont do that and has more headroom, perfect to demo these pedals...

    🔴🌎🐸 The beO sounds better than I've heard in other comparisons.. I don't think you could wrong between the two. It seems that you can get some of the same results. Great guitar chord playing I could almost choose the beO on this one but when I take into account of everything else I've heard I chose and just purchased the the dirty as I like the crisp crunch and the bOd has a tad of mush. I looked for that here though it's not apparent . I would have liked to hear the sustain and would have liked to have seen the knobs adjusted the same. A difficult thing to do alone and play that good. Overall he did a great impressive demo of which showed to us it's really mostly all about the player his method of striking the strings and cords and projection of tones, though the pedals seem to be bad ass that's a given and that Shirley helps..

    Dirty Shirley plus an EQ boost (to jump out further in the mix during my solos) and some delay from the Boss MS-3. Going into a clean amp, the Yamaha THR100H. I roughly have the knobs at these settings: Bass - 11:30, Treble 9:30, Presence 12:00, Volume 1:00, Mids 9:30, Gain 11:30 (internal gain trim pot set to max).

    One thing I personally did with the BE-OD when using it live was to stack it with a "TS' type pedal...just so I can get the mid hump from it. Since I was stacking, I trimmed down the gain with the internal pot. That helped to cut through a dense mix....

  • @LCRLive687

    @LCRLive687

    4 жыл бұрын

    You need a tight knob, and badly. Especially if you are plaing metal. And the lower you tune, the more tight roll off you need while not cutting the lows coming through the amp, only cutting the lows going to the distortion. I.e. - amp still lets lows through without distorting them. And the ability to roll that back to get the flubbiness if one really wants too.

    I think if you need any more gain than the dirty shirley can offer, you need to try get used to playing with less gain. The top players use alot less gain than people think, and it's more their accuracy that is making people think they need to turn up the gain

    I have them both and they are amazing, yet different beasts. Dirty shirley makes me work harder. I have to really hit the strings to get the balls of its sister. The BE-OD plays be itself. Easy to get those staccato riffs (and pairs very, very well with delay for melodic solos). One is smoother and one is grainier. In terms of feel I would say the BE-OD=80's metal and Dirty Shirley=heavy metal. Great channel !!
