Fried Squash from Frozen Squash
Is it possible for frozen squash to taste garden fresh? My squash recipe works for frozen squash eaten in the winter or summer garden fresh squash! My family loves to eat fried squash all year long! It doesn't have to just be enjoyed in the summer!
This video also mentions eating peas on New Years. Do you eat peas on New Years? Did your mama put coins in the peas like mine did or do you have other New Years traditions?

Mrs Joan. Thanks for this!! I am going try zucchini this way...Been looking for this for a long time. Hope it will work. I'm in NC born and raised. We had such a big garden last year and we have so much in the freezer and I didn't know what to do with it except bread and we don't eat a lot of it. So thanks again for this idea. We do eat this meal on New Years also. But not with coins when small. My parents had so problem with us eating anything.out of the garden. God Bless and hope you have a Wonderful and Blessed Day!!

Thanks! I'm so thankful this helped you. I also have a video about canning squash you can fry. We were just in Mt. Airy on vacation 2 weeks ago.
Mrs. Joan, you are a gem! I was mixing cornmeal and flour together for fried squash but this looks soooo much better. Thank you

Thank you so much .
Thank you again for this information. I grew up in NE Texas and that’s pretty southern. Maybe not Deep South, but most of our grandparents and great grand parents came from SC, GA, TN, etc. in my family blacked peas are a NY tradition and to this day, I cook them. I’m 80 and just love them. So glad and blessed for my Southern tradition.

Me too! I don't need meat every meal, just give me those good old vegetables, slaw, beans, and cornbread!
This looks like my mom’s squash. My husband & I are growing squash & preserving it for the first time. Thank you for your videos. They are a bigger help than you know. And my generation needs help! 😂

Yummy! I'm coming to your house for dinner! Our family always put a penny in the black eyed peas. We were told that whomever finds the penny is going to have great wealth in the new year.

Yes, I freeze them uncooked. When our garden comes in I'll try to do a video on how we freeze them!
I wonder if this will work for store bought frozen squash.
I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for sharing. Do you blanch your squash before freezing it ? Or do you just slice it and freeze without blanching?
@AtHomewithMrsJoan

No blanching. Just wash, slice, and freeze.
I miss eating like this

We like scrambled 1 lb. fried sausage, (can use hamburger) block of velveeta cheese, and can of rotel with green chili's melted in crock pot. If you meant dip for fried squash then I love ranch!
My friend always added one dime to the black eyed peas on new years! It was supposed to bring good luck to whoever found it in their bowl. 😉

Is that all purpose flour or self rising?
